Sony Xperia 1 vs. Samsung Galaxy S10+

Theres no doubt new Sony RAW noise reduction working well. Less noise than before, with great details preservation, great natural color reproduction. Never a fan of plasticky image algorithm that Samsung used. But S10 got the upper hands for its dynamic range.
Sony camera still has it flaws of course. Oversharpen, overblown highlights, weak dynamic range. It needs to improve their Auto mode point & shoot to include more Auto HDR implementation to certain situation. Put a better camera hardware as well, stop playing it safe. Will be interesting how its stack up against the low light king, P30 Pro & Pixel 3.
The screen? Both are great. One got the crazy brightness level, the other provides new 21:9 4k one. I lean more towards Sony's approach, & believe that starting next year, other companies will follow. Audio? No doubt Samsung is superior.
Design & UI? Sony for me (although it can be greater if use the full screen gesture instead of that pill gesture).
As per overall aspects, S10+ is the more complete package, for the price given. But glad that Sony finally catching up & on a level that i called, 'flagship worthy'.

You can't go wrong for both world. Both are outstanding smartphone to date. Both comes from great brand, it just the matter of taste now. I'll take Xperia 1 design because no punch hole and slender squareish design. Xperia 1 for near stock UI. Camera is better on S10+ for overall use.

I think that Galaxy S10+ is the ultimate winner. It is better that Xperia in everything: design, camera system, battery, sound... 4k screen is a pure gimmick for me. I'd never notice a difference with a 2.5k one.

There are many little irritating details a... moreSamsung UI aka one UI might have some bloatware, but there software supports and customer services actually the best behind Apple now and there phones are more durable than any android phones around including Sony (this coming from my experience with some Sony flagship I used in the past that has even issues with IP rating!). By the way I’m a fan of iPhone, but I’m using Samsung Galaxy S10 plus as second phone and let’s be honest Samsung improved a lot since Galaxy S7 there are in different level now.

I used to love Sony, but since one of my friend bought Xperia Z5 premium in released date for almost 1000$ and phone died within 6 month of use nahh thanks Sony.

Daylight photos: I'd say Samsung's better with clarity, sharpness. Colours are probably closer to real life on Sony.
Lowlight photos: Sony way better, hands down.
Selfies: Difficult to say but both are pretty pleasing overall. The background's better on Sony while faces are not overly smoothed out on the Sammy.

it was a tie on selfie cam, look closely at the depth of field, sony is way ahead, the low light also, teh sony has more detail.

I've just switched from the Galaxy S10+ for the Sony Xperia 1. Top reason is near stock Android coupled with top of the line specs - Sony has been excellent with getting Android updates and security patches to its devices. Secondly, the 4K display is incredible and is unique on the market. I'm very quickly getting used to the aspect ratio which is great for multitasking. Thirdly, Sony has finally got its shit together on the camera front. Fourthly, I've purchased a Razer Raiju mobile game controller and it turns the Xperia 1 into the ultimate wide-screen mobile gaming device. Fortnite and PUBG look fantastic on it.

The 21:9 screen looks ridiculously ugly, but the holes for the front facing camera looks even more annoying than a notch, so I would not waste my money on any of these phones!

The one ui pie is girly, pg (or g/disney) rated garbage software for little kids or something. I am going to give the phone to my girlfriend, get an S9+, and! I WILL NOT ADD ONE UI PIE ;-) .
