I am using this phone from last one month. At this price range j think it's a very good camera phone. Good battery life, and amazing audio quality. Display is ok. The Camera is little bit struggling in the night mode and needs to improve via updates. It is a quit good phone for normal users only, not suitable for gaming users.

Not all phones from this price point can´t record ultra wide angle video , it´s not true GSM Arena.
The alternatives you mention have horrible OS skin inside (MIUIs and Color OS) seriously?!
I think this is one sensible choice still if forgot to mention the most obvious competitor , the Xiaomi Mi A3, which packs the same processor , inferior HD screen but an Amoled Unit-
It´s expensive yes i can´t argue with that, still it´s pretty neat, Clean Android skin (thank god moto you´re still among the few who cares) good camera altough GSM says otherwise, and finally good batery life. The G8 Plus could simply be the G8, why the Plus? This is the only G8 model (the play was quietly released for other markets that don´t have the One Macro).
The only problem now the way I see is, motorola is launching too many similar models for no reason.
Still this is an execelent upgrade for the G7 plus, improves a lot the batery life and that´s enough for me.
Moto could have fitted an Amoled screen and a 128 Gb version too
