DantE O2, 04 Jan 2020note 10+ costs twice as much as mi note 10 , do you really ... moreYes. You did not get the reason for the comparison and it is not a comparison for which phone is better. It is to compare two flagship Cameras and Xiaomi is the only one with 108 mp sensor.

Of course we need a 108MP camera. The noise had been drastically reduced in low-light conditions.

DroidBoye, 05 Jan 2020You know what you're talking about? That's NOT Bokeh.Bokeh is a term derived from Japanese that indicates blur produced in the out of focus area within the frame, so that IS bokeh.

It's not mandatory too. Plus there isn't a definitive version as there are >4 creators/programmers of GCam so they don't know who to pick.

Normal people unlike you and me don't care about GCam so leave it.

As for all machine learning applications more data gives better results. Quad Bayer generates much more data in a single shot and can be much more versatile than traditional sensors. Single shot hdr is just a beginning of that.

But other thing is that Galaxy phones loose their value faster than newer, more powerful and attractive phones are popping up :). Overall Note10+ is much better device anyway.

It is quite apparent that xiaomis lens is very soft in the edges and corners. If they had better lens things would have been a lot better.

I like the foliage rendering of the xiaomi though. It doesn't have the overprocessed look found in current hdr computational photography phones, instead it resembles the initial stages of huawei leica partnership. Very pleasant

Thanks for this test it is very insightful of what may be coming with the next models. I know this was just comparing the main cameras but I would assume if you were needing extra DOF in an image with the Xiaomi you could use the wider angle camera which I think in the review suggested was very decent. There would also be nothing stopping Xiaomi or Samsung from creating a focus stacking mode too if needed.
It would have been interesting to see what a processed raw image may have looked like side by side. Also with the lowlight images if you had exposed for the highlights you probably might have fixed the exposure issues?

With the pixel binning system, each pix size in the 27mp mode will have the size kf 1.6Mm. So i guess the reason why pmcamera manufacturers haven't make the 24mp with 1.4+ Mm pixel size is because of marketing

Thanks for the article. I was wondering how they stacked up. Bought a Galaxy Note10+ unlocked, no contract, no trade in on Cyber Monday from Microsoft for $699. So that's a good price. But I will eventually be interested in acquiring one with a larger sensor. But I'll probably wait until the next models, the S20 Ultra and Note20 Ultra come down in price.
