Extremely disappointing phone:

- sh*tty low-res display
- very bad cameras (all the other phones take better photos, except with the ultra wide cam)
- no stereo speakers
- last year, sh*tty chipset
- probably the worst cut-out in 2020
- the price

This phone is not a flagship - it's a fracking mid-ranger with a flagship price tag!

    First time i've seen the ultrawide easily beat the main camera. It's a little oversharpened but the main camera still can't match it when processed similarly. The 50mp shots are very impressive and, of course, moreso when downscaled.

      Kirin 990 is counterpart of SD855, not 865.
      Not enough power.

          It cant display HDR10+ content unless the footage was recorded using HDR10+.
          Something only cellphones have.
          It means content will be HDR10.

              I still take the S20 Ultra with 8k recording, normal SD card slots, 120hz refresh rate.

                my next smartphone.

                  -Pretty dim panel with awkward resolution and no HDR10+ support for video streaming apps.
                  BTW, do these streaming apps work on Huawei with lack of Google Play services?

                  -Decent Wired and wireless fast charging. Battery life looks above average but with terrible standby time.

                  -Weak single core performance and Gpu from last year. But good to see Huawei providing some dedicated cooling to prevent throttling of the chipset.

                  -Image processing is much more natural compared to p30 pro.
                  Selfie camera is a good improvement.
                  Instead of focusing on 720p@7680fps, they should provide 4k@120fps.
                  4K60 bitrate need to be increased along with an option to turn off AIS with a SW update.
                  Images from Main and Ultrawide cameras are great irrespective of lighting conditions.
                  S20 ultra still better in terms of detail in low light and less softer images compared to P40 Pro. As predicted by so many people over here, low light shots from telephoto lens are not that great despite the RYYB 12mp upgrade. Not waiting 8 seconds just to get a usable image in low light through telephoto.

                    Everyone bashed it when Samsung did it, lets see how those same haters will now like it and enjoy it more than a massive notch.

                        I dont know where others are looking. But I am personally slightly disappointed with camera quality. In daylight I like p30 pro and iphone better, only s20 ultra is worse. And in many photos "staircase" artifacts are clearly visible - for example on building lines...

                              I get the impression that the big three, Apple, Samsung, and Google are asleep behind the wheel. If Google would throw in a third camera, and up their computational photography game they could conceivably beat Huawei, sad as it is to say, we in the US will never see Huawei's best.

                                Don't want to ruin the party but this is a complete rip-off of the S20 series

                                Nothing was designed here
                                Jeez even the flash is in the same place
                                Still, love that curved frame

                                  Is it me or do P30 Pro's pictures look better? P40 Pro has jagged edges.

                                    P40 Pro camera should be compared with S20+, not the Ultra. That should be save for P40 Pro+ review.

                                    S20+ camera setup are like mid ranger when compared to P40 Pro lol.
