- What kind of achievement? Care to explain?
'The MI Note 10 is a shining example of how gcam is pulling out the real potency of the 108mp sensor'
- Some of the parts improved, but some of the parts worsen as well. Stand by my point. Not a fan of GCAM image processing.

Gcam producing oil Painting, crushed shadows, over contrast? Looks like you never used gcam in your life.
The MI Note 10 is a shining example of how gcam is pulling out the real potency of the 108mp sensor.

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2020Photos from the p40 series are just too unnatural.
Huawei ... moreFunny i found Samsung image processing the one that always looks unnatural looks with it plasticky details. This time around P40 got one of the best color accuracy on a smartphone (go check it on YT, compared with others), while Samsung, as usual, very far from it (color cast on shadows still emerge, oversaturate like always). Details are still best in Mate 30 Pro (BM3D raw noise reduction), which for sure will be fix on P40 newer firmware updates.
No comments on the video part.
It does not need Night Mode (dont care fix or not). It literally leave every competitor out there to dust (even they use night mode) by just using Auto single take. Basically Huawei's recipe on lowlight still untouchable.
Huawei needs GCAM to fix things up? Lol. GCAM cant handle RYYB color pallete, nor pixel binning accordingly. So no, Huawei's own image processing tuned by Leica is wayyyy better than GCAM (oil-painting, overcontrast, crushed shadow madness).

Photos from the p40 series are just too unnatural.
Huawei seems to be copying the oversaturated, oversharpened approach of the previous years Galaxy series. Every photo comes with sort of a filter look, way different from the actual scene in real time. Also don't bother pixel peeping as you'll see loss of details.
Details and noise is well controlled but completely distorting the scene where there is huge difference between the image and what your eyes see is unacceptable.
Lot of artifacts in low light videos.
Focus hunting issues with 1080p 60fps mode with smaller Fov.
AIS turned on by default with no way to get rid of it spoils the overall stability and gives smaller FOV than other devices.
Also The RYYB sensor causes lot of chromatic aberrations around light sources in low light.
Night mode still hasn't been fixed.
Plus no gcam to correct these issues. Have to rely on Lord Huawei to bless you with updates.

YUKI93, 08 Apr 2020I'll be happy not to use HDR. All it ever did is increasing... morejust compare 12mp and 50mp in detail, denoising on 50mp make it look worse, it actually captures less detail, even if its sharper.

P40 has better main camera shots than P40 Pro even though the hardware is similar. How can this be?

Throw an IP68 & wireless charging, it could be competitive. Camera quality are indeed great, but cant deny the device is indeed overpriced.
Agree with GSMarena, older P30 Pro will be a wise choice. Its crazy cheap now, with 1 year ahead camera setup, so its still flagship level in 2020. GMS included as bonus.

Both seems to have the same level of detail. It's just a personal preference. I'll go with the sharper default one.
But in the direct comparison photo, the default has more detail.

Its better to avoid Huawei at the moment without GAPPS installed.
Also the cloneApp is not always working, and you need to be lucky that your bank especially in Europe will develop a app for the Huawei store.
Also with the Kirin SoC no ROM community available for in the future to have better ROMS with GAPPS etc.

"If these 50MP shots are downscaled to 12.5MP - they won't exhibit more detail compared to the default photos..."
Seriously GSMArena, you really need to get your eyes checked! I can clearly see much better and clearer detail with the downscaled photo instead of that over-glorified oversharpening mess in the default photo.

It really annoys me that to have high end features across the board means buying the physically largest device. And no stereo speakers on any of them?

Am i blind?
Downscaled 50mpx to 12.5mpx are so much better than deafult 12.5mpx. And full 50mpx shots obviously have much more details.

The fact that it uses the same primary camera as the Pro version is somewhat admirable. Hopefully the disparities will lessen even further in future models.
