1) it's 21:9
2) it's got high resolution, not refresh rate
there are comparisons on youtube where you'll find that 4k gives more detail even when just watching youtube.

there are many things a display can do, but there is no 4k@120 with accurate color reproduction at all brightness levels up to 1100 nits, so Sony chose what they think their target audience needs, and I am one of them - I am happy with 550 nits and high resolution, considering that I own an XZP and I play VR games on it I see no problem with 60hz refresh rate even on my IPS and lots of people do not too.

Just like lots of people don't notice difference between 4k and qhd, and even between fhd and 2k, so let's just agree that different people need different features and this phone has a very clear targeting and all its features have purpose.

who was talking about an oppo with 800 nits as if it was something outstanding? Pffff.

I have seen the this phone's camera samples here and on dpreview. They all look as oily as photos produced by all other small-sensor cameras.

->So is it an onlyfans page where only brand loyalists come and extol phones? the loyalists are primary reason brands get destroyed. This phone is pretty good, not gonna lie, but sony prioritizing higher resolution over HRR seems weird choice to make in 2020. Even a 90 would be fine for all it is QHD +90 with 100-150 lower price tag would get this phone lot more praise and sales besides panels being cheaper to make en masse since they are already being made

Well, there are brands that charge way over 1000 euros and give no gift with the phone.
Not even counting the fact phones with no sd slot, no Qi charging, bad speakers, no 10bit recording, poor updates (if they get new android), photos look like wax, useless waterfall screen and do not bring anything new to mobile tech community.

Sonys battery management seems to work pretty well so i a smaller battery usually works for them.

Android Master, 02 Jun 2020Huge difference between TV Oled and smartphone Oled display... moreIt is a fact.

Any oled phone or tv will have burn-in soon or later.
There is no way to prevent the organic compounds from oxidation.
                          This leads to burn-in.
Also Blue will die first, giving the reddish aspect to the screen.

That is main reason is pretty rare to see laptops with oled. Menu of softwares like Office and Games will made it worse.

This is why Sony and Samsung are investing in microLED bigger panels, to keep the infinite contrast without the many weaknesses of oled.

                          Oled is a failure ......

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2020Even expensive oled tvs have burn-in. www.reddit.com/r/... moreHuge difference between TV Oled and smartphone Oled displays.
They are designed to work in different conditions. The power they require, etc.
                            Can't compare the two.

Besides even their the quality of panels arguments still holds true.
Cheap panels will get burn in early.

I am definitely interested in this device. But I am not gonna buy it for 1200 now. I would rather wait a few months when the price would come down to 900. I am willing to pay 900-950 for it.

They have downgraded from 4k to 1080p regularly at various instances to conserve battery.
They have requested Gsmarena to not reveal battery results. (which Gsmarena agreed to And yet Brand boys say, Gsmarena is biased)

Still this shameless company doesn't want to put 5000mAh battery and gives piss poor 21W charging in 2020 which takes 2hrs to fully charged.

                                        Inferior technology at 1200 dollars.
Some ppl simply want the best when they are spending 1200 Euros.
Not gonna settle for year 2016 fast charging.
