Nick.B, 02 Jun 2020There are 65W powerbanks but your phone tops at lets say 25... moreThey have kept the panel at lower brightness to conserve battery.
They have downgraded from 4k to 1080p regularly at various instances to conserve battery.
They have requested Gsmarena to not reveal battery results. (which Gsmarena agreed to And yet Brand boys say, Gsmarena is biased)

Still this shameless company doesn't want to put 5000mAh battery and gives piss poor 21W charging in 2020 which takes 2hrs to fully charged.

Inferior technology at 1200 dollars.
Some ppl simply want the best when they are spending 1200 Euros.
Not gonna settle for year 2016 fast charging.

I think this phone is looking unrivalled. Has a complete balanced package. Cameras look good to me though I'd prefer they put focus on the normal camera app - would like to see the comparison tool though GSMA. 3.5mm is uncompromisable for me, as are front-facing stereo speakers and there is no way I'm getting a screen with a notch. There is simply nothing else on the market.

The listed criticisms seem merely a silly box ticking exercise rather than looking for anything pragmatic.

I don't care about >60Hz and never did on my PCs either. It simply isn't possible with the current gen Qualcomm chipsets at 4k and will guzzle even more battery. Maybe Sony could offer a way to lower the screen resolution?

I don't want an in-screen fingerprint reader as on the side is more convenient and the current in-screens don't work well.

I don't want an ultra ultra fast charging rate as I prefer a battery that lasts years. The current fast charge rates are more than good enough.

I also want a screen that lasts so don't care about the ultra high brightness. That's one of the limitations of OLED that will hopefully be fixed in next technology generations with microLED. If anything I wish they hadn't rounded the corners of the screen - a silly trend started by Samsung.

I also liked Sony's Album app and wish they would bring it back, or at least open-source it especially bringing back the places view.

Will be interesting to see the battery result. Should be better than the mkI with the bigger battery so would expect mid-80hs in GSM Arena's tests at least.

                  Almost 600 comments damn

Nick.B, 02 Jun 2020There are 65W powerbanks but your phone tops at lets say 25... moreYou don't seem to realize that you don't get the reality

                          1. People who have powerbanks to charge phones don't care whether their phone charges to 100% in 30 minutes or 60, they usually just need 10-15% to get home with their phone on.

                          2. How OLED screens work, affects color representation at different brightness level; I see you don't understand why people who care about color disregard high brightness

                          3. Burn-in is an issue that will come to you eventually; I've only had 3 phones in the recent 10 years (Xperia V, Z5 Premium, XZ Premium) and that's not because I am poor but because there's better things to enjoy in my life than my phone's display; I plan having the x1m2 last at least 2 years and while I admit Chinese phones to have improved a lot you don't seem to realize that companies like Sony care more about user experience in certain situations than giving you the hardware with raw antutu numbers.

For example install mcpro24fps on your smartphone and tell me what's the highest bitrate you can shoot in 4k@30fps? Can you shoot on all your camera modules? Does it shoot without frame drops? Even my 3yrs old xzp can do up to 240 Mbps with no drops, can your super duper flagship? As far as I know Chinese companies don't even seem to realize there might be 3rd party software to access their cameras in Camera2API hardware access level

4:47 ..... You can see it has two batteries. Two batteries at 32.5W will charge faster than using one battery and 65W.

Dash (OnePlus) and Vooc are same, just different commercial names.
                            OP8 Pro has 30W.

Fi... moreThere are 65W powerbanks but your phone tops at lets say 25W it will not "fast charge" in this extreme situation because 25W is not pretty fast charge in 2020 is it :) With phones like mine at 65w. And most of them at 40w :)

There is not a single smartphone maker that wants you to keep your new device 2-3 years and in this line of thinking the maker will never look after you about your screen or battery.

All phones date with time and you change them. Most people do it at 1 year some people even 6 months. That's the reality. Sony will go bankrupt if they tell people use your Sony 2-3 years before upgrade :) In this line of thinking they cannot make 800 nit screen and excuse with "we look after your screen longevity" Let me tell you, this 800 nits are used 0.00001 of the time I or someone else uses his phone having 800 nits. This is direct and strong sunlight at it. If it's average sunlight it will not go 800. Or if not in Auto as well. So my longevity of my screen is 99.9% same as yours. Except you see nothing in direct strong sunlight. I have had phones with 500 nits. Don't tell me apples, It is very bad. :)

like the curve of g4, i see it as more practical than the side convex curve(?) of s6 edge etc...

First, you should stop blabbering your mouth about 400 nits top; it's in manual while in auto phones always show more, X1mII tops almost 550 nits in auto.
Second, when you manually move the brightness slider to the top on a Samsung, it warns you that the screen is likely to degrade with a much higher rate at this brightness, so don't keep it there for too long.
Sony basically does not allow you to crank it up that high so you won't have to worry at all. It's a bit Apple-style - "we know whats best for you" but I'd rather have my phone serve me 2 years without having to replace the screen than enjoy using it on the sun for a few times and then have to replace the screen in 6 months like these Samsung users.

                                        >>I don't use 65w to save battery life long term, but I have it per needed in extreme fast situation.
In extreme fast situation, people use powerbanks with quickcharge and have their phone recharged on the go.

                                        >>Your xperia 1 mark 2 don't have these and other things like 4K or even 3K
All oled screens have less resolution in RGB than they claim because of RG BG instead of RGB RGB pixel layout; Xperia has 4k screen and it's the highest resolution out there.

It seems you just repost other peoples ideas without understanding them, which results in you embarassing yourself by posting rubbish like this.
Someone buys a car to get to work while they live 5 blocks away; they can walk or even ride bike, but they think buying a car was a good decision. I can't judge them but there's at least 3 other options - bike, walk, or not buy a car at all. And you have to admit that some people don't need HRR and to some people keeping same color representation at all brightness levels is more important than having top brightness.
