Anders, 31 May 2020Sony don't want to you test the battery life because they k... moreYou Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and other chinese phone fanbois should either shut up either base your rubbish opinions on facts.
As you will see from this table I carefully collected for you, 4k does NOT affect battery life as much as you all think.
Samsung Galaxy S20, 2k OLED, 4000mah: 71h
web 10:48h video 9:09h
Xperia XZ Premium, 4k IPS, 3230mah: 72h
web 10:04h, video 8:04h
OnePlus 3, FullHD OLED, 3000mah: 66h
web 8:03h, video 13:15h
Xperia Z5 Premium, 4k IPS, 3530mah: 66h
web 9:29h, video 7:14h
OnePlus 6, FullHD+ OLED, 3300mah:76h
web 9:19h, video 14:27h
Xperia XZ2 Premium, 4K IPS, 3540mah:77h
web 9:23h video 7:56h
Samsung Galaxy S10, 1440p OLED, 3400mah: 79h
web 10:10h 12:56h
Xperia 1, 4k OLED, 3330mah: 79h
web 8:57h video 11:10h
More than that, due to its technology, OLED screens always only have half of the claimed resolution in Blue and Red, because they cheat and calculate the resolution in green dots, which they always make twice much of. So, because they claim 4k, only in 2k it will actually be true Full RGB resolution of the panel, which on IPS screens has been a standard since 2011. Yes, OLED screens are THAT much behind IPS screens, and YES they had to cheat because nobody would buy Galaxy if they knew their real resolution is 720p.

"We... moreYou instead of doing a lot of reading what others think and then forwarding their opinion should get Xperia 1 and then talk about what it can do and what it can't. Every locally stored video on Xperia 1 gets upscaled to native resolution and gets HDR enhanced. Every game you play today renders in native resolution (unless the game is capped with resolution but all major releases go beyond WQHD pretty much). I don't know what's going on with YouTube it could be false test result read out much like how it reads out the wrong tele sensor or it could be they used YouTube app instead of web. You can play YouTube on any screen at any resolution but you can play 4K YouTube on Xperia 1 in native resolution. Netflix and Amazon cap their video resolution for mobiles so there is nothing you can do about it which means that you would get Amazon 720p even on your favorite phone.

that is not just on that phone
I do not use my phone for gaming or even watching movies, I do not watch my netflix on my phone either (why should I, I have a great 55" TV), I am mostly using my phone for photos and some business stuff.
Will non-gamers even notice magnificent difference between 60, 90 or 120 Hz during using the phone? In these case I think this is just marketing gimmick, I am using S9 and when I compared it to S20 ultra I didn't notice any difference because of using 60 or 120 Hz.
But what do I care is screen resolution, colours and brightens. I would like to compare my phone to this one and see those 1B colours vs my 16M.

It would... moreAccording to other reviews, it does support micro SD, and the camera app has an option to store the photos direct on SD card just like a regular camera.
But yeah, it would be great if they can mention the micro SD card support in their review.

Does this phone have adoptable storage enabled?
It would be useful if you could mention this whenever you review devices which have SD card support.

saved, 31 May 2020>>So much for these guys bragging about viewing 4k co... moreHRR is turned on all the time except content consumption where you get option to turn on or off the ultra vision engine.
It's funny how you have to resort to lies about HRR smartphones.
While Sony downgrading from 4k regularly in variety of tasks is well documented in the review by Gsmarena that we trust.

Should be a great buy in a couple of months when the price tanks like a rock. At €1200 only die hard fans and people looking for something specific are gonna pay for it.

"We were able to play HDR content from all major sources like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. Netflix in particular served HDR10 but was capped at 1080p, and we were expecting 4K. We did get the UHD resolution on the Xperia 1 back when we reviewed it, though it's limited to FullHD now as well.
As for Amazon Prime, that remained in 720p.
YouTube, on the other hand, could go all the way up to 4K60, though the phone continued to report it's rendering in 2560x1096px"

Samsung Galaxy S20 series are not a viable option in Europe because of the crapy Exynos processor which performs 20% lower the SD865 according to many tests. LG V60 unfortunately not available in Europe. We have OnePlus 8/8 pro, Xiaomi Mi 10/10 pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro.
