Poco as a brand lasted for only one smartphone and I am afraid this one by Poco would be added to the huge heap of smartphones.

Nice specs planning to buy one.

Paul, 04 Jun 2020Here in the Netherlands this phone Will cost 599/649. That... moreFlagships cost 1000 eur or more sadly.

Hyper inflation is really my friend. Everything you could buy with 600 eur 10 years ago now need 1200 eur.

What they did is decrease people's salary by deflating the value of money by printing way more. And the madmen continue doing so we are f@#$ed ...

While it's good but not that remarkable for me. The lack of high refresh screen and telephoto are serious minus for me.

It's a bit out of the topic here but with Huawei P40 Pro at around 820 usd or 720 euro at the current exchange at my country, I would rather grab that despite the lack of GMS.

OIS, 06 Jun 2020Nothing written in the whole review about the lack of OIS o... moreI think the reviews are based on the phone mounted on a tripod which makes it an inaccurate review. It nullify the disadvantages of not having OIS. By mounting the phone on a tripod, it makes all their phone camera reviews as if they have OIS. That's why the studio test is not reliable. Some of those cheap phone make great photos in their studio.

This is 2020. Flagship phones and high-mid range phones are now expected to have OIS. Mi Note 10 has two lens with OIS.

Both the K30 and Poco F2 Pro use the same IMX 686 sensor, yet in the image quality tests, there is huge difference. I think something went wrong. Please consider doing the tests again.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2020 1. No, all phones are not excellent (or even near excellen... more1. But even DAC's are active and passive which raises a new levels of achieved quality. In the end, you can't say all phones are excellent in this regard.

I know how Equalizers work. They modify frequencies, but they're also a part of sound quality analysis. Isn't a good audio device supposed to give close to linear frequency at default? if one device is giving unnecessarily more bass (or treble or any frequency) by default, its not good.
And wait, what do you want me to tune as audiophile? A 5 band equaliser with 10 step equalisation? That will make the frequency curve perfect? No sir.

I was listening to an old song, "Video" from Electric Dreams. Its a good test song.
Redmi note 7 pro just sounded distorted by a very minute margin. it wasn't bad, but difference was definitely there compared to Redmi 2.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2020Would this phone work in America? If so, on which carriers?Don't buy it. It only supports few bands

For me, audio quality (analog output to headphone) from phones are good enough. Most people can't definitely differentiate the audio quality difference between phones. I would argue that those LG phones with excellent DAC and amp are useless for most people. Unless it needs to drive a high impedance headphone or something with a planar driver, the current phone audio quality is good enough. I also have a DAC and amp combo that I used mainly to drive some hard to drive headphone, but if I'm connecting a low impedance headphone or average iem, then I don't use it. Of course I also try to A/B it with a high quality sound source (DSD) and still couldn't hear a noticeable difference. Also I noticed that some device might have different eq, as in a device might output a slightly warmer sound which can be used to identifiy which phone which but in no way indicate one has lesser audio quality than the other.
I'm not saying that there are no phone with not good enough audio quality. I imagine some mid-low to low tier phones probably skimp on it. But I don't think it will be a problem with mid-high to high tier phones.

Now about OIS. OIS is important. Yes, the sensor size and aperture are important but I personally would be happier to have an older sensor (like 48MP sensor vs 64MP sensor, assuming the only difference is the pixel count and not the individual sensor size) and have OIS. Also most telephoto implementation in most mid-high to high end Xiaomi phones are useless as they used a lower quality sensor for their telephoto, thus on my Mi9T, I can get a much better image quality from the main sensor vs telephoto. So in Mi9T, I prefer if they change the telephoto to depth sensor and have the extra money used to bring OIS to the main cam. I suspect that the main use of telephoto is for portrait mode only and on indoor shot, the majority of the time they will use the main sensor for telephoto. I actually have to point a flashlight to the sensor so it will use the telephoto sensor for... telephoto. I tried to crank my monitor to 100% brightness and it still won't use the telephoto sensor when aimed to the monitor.
Anyway, why OIS is important is that it can potentially saves you from blurry pics. I see too many blurry pics from people, especially if they take the pic one handed. Imagine you need to take a pic quickly, thus OIS is very important in this case. It is the difference between you take a sharp usable picture vs a blurry one. Basically if you have used a camera/phone with OIS (I've used Mi6 before, which has OIS) and moved to something without OIS, you will definitely want the OIS back.

As for this Poco F2 pro, the 5MP is for macro even if it uses 50mm lens. You definitely can get better a much better picture using the 64MP mode vs that 5MP sensor for telephoto. Like I've said before, 48MP mode produced better quality picture vs 8MP telephoto sensor/lens on my Mi9T. That 8MP sensor is basically a more expensive depth sensor for the portrait mode.

I will totally disagree if someone is saying that removing the 3.5 jack is the trademark for a flagship phone { this is only for Apple fanatics who pioneered this stupid design}. It should not removed as an option for users.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2020The 2x crop is not from the 16Mp image, it's from the 64Mp ... moreThe 64mp sensor uses pixel pinning to give 16mp image... Yes, you can crop from the full 64mp, but u will not get nearly the same result as a 16mp or even 12mp with 2x.. Actual resolving resolution of the 64mp is more like a typically 35-40mp sensor even on good day light. And it get much worse at low light without pixel binning.

Samath N8 808 owner, 05 Jun 2020You may be right, but its not about what they've concluded ... more 1. No, all phones are not excellent (or even near excellent) in Audio quality. Its a blatant lie. LG flagships are awesome, some others range from good to ok-ok and even bad.
Ans. You are correct. But that's the thing, most flagships don't have a jack, so the audio solely depends on quality of DAC in type c to 3.5 mm converter
the 2 phones you mentioned had jacks and could possibly be tuned differently at factory. Did you tune them to same EQ settings? tune and compare. If you are an audiophile, you should know tuning, if not, you aren't an audiophile to begin with
