I'm so hyped with this phone! Can't wait to get my hands on it. It looks like a fantastic phone for that price! The build quality (software and hardware), the specs (im not a gamer so i dont care much about the medicore chip), battery life etc...
Maybe the camera gets some software update. Its not unusuall for Sony to do this after some time. This will give even better results.
I cannot get why all people want no headphone jacks. For me its a KO criteria. I hope that Sony will stick to this and be the only ones in the future who remains with it

There's nothing wrong with plastic, reviewers have brainwashed the public by saying that it's "cheap", "tacky", that only applies to "glasstic" (shiny plastic).
In Q4 2019, 1.3 million Sony smartphones were sold. Bare in mind they only sell their products in specfic markets, e.g. Europe. Here in the UK, around 1 in 55 smartphones sold are from Sony. On par with Motorola.

Despite the lukewarm camera review, the daylight shots are fantastic! The photos have natural looking colors and detail! They are not cartoon-like or oil paintings like Samsung or OnePlus. I think I saw something like that to the Xperia 1 II samples. I prefer detail any other time rather than a photo destroyed for the sake of noise removal. Nice job SONY. I just wish it was more complete as a phone, with stereo speakers and with a non-abysmal ultrawide snapper.

Love the design and the phone as well as the 21:9. My wife´s motorola one vision has the same format and it´s excellent to hold and operate with one hand.
This phone is different, good display, good battery life etc....350€ maybe to much for some still I think it´s a solid choice, clean Android OS. After Motorola this is my favorite brand

In the +-100euro range - Realme X2 pro, Mate30, NEX3 or minote10 with less contrasty colors, all with premium audio, hi res great color cameras, mid to near hi end processor.
If its not for sony color science and dsee+ldac, there is a little to no reason to buy this.

Damn, I was really planning to buy this phone, I wouldn't mind paying 360 eur for SD665 since I'm not a gamer, but the camera just broke the deal for me... Plus it's Sony so likely no Gcam to fix the photos at least... What a gyp, it had me really excited.

And of course, the first people to comment on Sony thread are the Sony nay sayers, this is becoming predictable and odd, hating on a smartphone brand lol, i have came through many smartphone brands which i didn't like never had to declare my dislike let alone as hatred.
It looks like this website is being crowded by the people of limited budget, don't get me wrong, i am with limited budget especially nowadays but with a deferent perspective of saving money, my perspective is to pay premium for high quality for longevity and thats where Japanese industry shine and where Chinese industry ranks the last, and as GSMa said "for each has his own".

4gb ram, mediocre camera performance. High price. Another DOA phone from Sony. With all the Sony fanboys mindlessly defending an inferior product, like with Motorola, you would expect Sony to a lot of phones. But they dont.

Odd aspect ratio?
New phones this year have 20:9 or 20.5:9 and this is 21:9.
So the difference is minimal and your point is not valid anymore.

I am still not convinced if 21:9 is ideal despite the compact 69mm width. But reading the description about the light weight and most importantly, the weight distribution warms my heart. How many manufacturers think of these things instead of throwing the kitchen sink and the kitchen platform on their 220gm, 6.7-inch, ungainly and un-ergonomic behemoths. It's a pity Sony can't market the engineering and aesthetics behind their construction.
Also, kudos to GSMa for making things clear about the positives of plastic. I think it's the best, longest-lasting and most durable material for phones this side of kevlar or carbon fibre. I wish more review sites note these things rather than calling them non-premium. That said, still not sure of glass -- however tough it may be -- as a backbone for the plastic. If it has to be glass, at least a matte finish would keep the fingerprints at bay.
Yet, overall great aesthetics from Sony, bezels included. Now, if only it were available.

Are there people that care about gimmiks like stereospeakers? If so, they really must not have something better to do then use the mobile 24/7
