Poco X3 NFC review

the ghosting you mention is in comparison to OLED pixel response times which is faster. Hhigh refresh OLEDs are expensive and not as sharp as LCDs.
I so want this phone because of its value but I have an old Samsung flagship which is as good except the high refresh display😔

I just recived POCO X3 and i like it except one thing. Battery live isnt great comparing to Redmi note 4X (with SD 625) even though it has 1100mAH bigger battery.
It doesent lose much battery when offscreen but onscreen watching films drain battery much faster than in my 3year old RN 4X. Genneraly if you are active onscreen(im not talking about gaming) you have to charge this phone everyday.

Can anybody with an X3 explain how much its screen "ghosts"? Does it ghost like a cheapo TV VA panel? an overclocked monitor? or like a cheap IPS display?

OLEDs are mainly used because they have higher yields at less materials needed (less cost) but can still be sold at higher pricing compared to LCD. There are existing statistical data that shows that OLEDS have lower costs to produce in terms of material costs for production. OLEDs became costly when you factor-in depreciation costs, it depreciates like hell as soon as you own it mainly because its organic and the market acknowledges that well enough to take that into account.

I almost missed that Bluetooth CODEC limitation myself but decided to do some Googling about it before buying. Perhaps Xiaomi will add it later via software update, but I doubt it. I think it's a chipset limitation, but I could be wrong.

Expecting IG... moreUnless I am mistaken, the Miezu M2 Note I had back in the day had an IGZO LCD until I smashed it, and I must say that for a cheap entry level phone, and even for a more expensive device, it was the best LCD display I have had or even seen so far, perhaps surprisingly. I actually miss it even today. Better than my Poco F1 display, that's for sure.

Then, think of people in the world may not be as rich as you are or just don't need the best for top price. How much on global market you pay for other phone packing this. (even though switching Hz seems functional) Still it's a cheap phone not perfect but this is why.

Expecting IGZO's performance at X3's pricepoint and standard IPS display is just not possible. You have to adjust your expectations somehow. Well, it's not that hard to search in Youtube from actual gamers themselves whether the ghosting is a big deal or not. It's actually more on the nitpicking side when they highlighted that, even on their writing they acknowledge that it can happen on IPS panels and it's a fact. In the end, you're not locked to 120Hz all the time so that ghosting part is just nitpicking.

OLEDs are just way faster than IPS LCDS in response times whether its a measure of Black to White or Grey to Grey. Notebookcheck has much more detailed hardware review when you're into that kind of articles but they're kind of slow in releasing smartphone reviews unfortunately.

i have decided to push through with the order anyway, albeit the issues. turns out the ghosting per new reviews is negligible. it is to be delivered by tomorrow or the following day. i definitely will post a new comment once i get my hands on it.

DroidBoye, 16 Sep 2020Wow, you had a good deal. I just bought mine at 11,990Php f... morei used a PHP1K voucher code that xiaomi gave me when i bought the poco x2 several months ago. it was the same price as you got it for.

i had both the razer phone 1 and 2, which had IGZO IPS 120Hz LCD but did not have this ghosting issue. OLEDs actually are slower until recently, that's why they were late jumping into the fast refresh rate. see, individual LEDs often retain the light's glow even after power is cut off, so OLEDs are actually more prone to ghosting.

I have Sony 1000xm3 and if this phone doesn't have high end audio codecs it's pointless to have good pair of Bluetooth headphones.

MrMing, 17 Sep 2020One more. Viewing angles on a OLED are usually better than ... moreAgain, it's better, but IPS screens are still PERFECTLY FINE.
My Sony Bravia TV has fantastic viewing angles, remaining high quality even at the extremes, and definitely about as good as an OLED screen in terms of image quality, but AT A MUCH LOWER PRICE.
Why thrive so much for brightness when all you really need is a visible screen outdoor, which pretty much all IPS screens can easily achieve? If you're after for brightness, Sony has the successor to Z9D, which can go as high as up to 10,000 nits, and guess what? It's an IPS LCD panel!
OLEDs can't even go beyond 2000 nits, while IPS screens can shine up to that level without consuming too much power, especially with whites.
