DroidBoye, 16 Sep 2020Wow, you had a good deal. I just bought mine at 11,990Php f... morei used a PHP1K voucher code that xiaomi gave me when i bought the poco x2 several months ago. it was the same price as you got it for.

i had both the razer phone 1 and 2, which had IGZO IPS 120Hz LCD but did not have this ghosting issue. OLEDs actually are slower until recently, that's why they were late jumping into the fast refresh rate. see, individual LEDs often retain the light's glow even after power is cut off, so OLEDs are actually more prone to ghosting.

I have Sony 1000xm3 and if this phone doesn't have high end audio codecs it's pointless to have good pair of Bluetooth headphones.

MrMing, 17 Sep 2020One more. Viewing angles on a OLED are usually better than ... moreAgain, it's better, but IPS screens are still PERFECTLY FINE.
My Sony Bravia TV has fantastic viewing angles, remaining high quality even at the extremes, and definitely about as good as an OLED screen in terms of image quality, but AT A MUCH LOWER PRICE.
Why thrive so much for brightness when all you really need is a visible screen outdoor, which pretty much all IPS screens can easily achieve? If you're after for brightness, Sony has the successor to Z9D, which can go as high as up to 10,000 nits, and guess what? It's an IPS LCD panel!
OLEDs can't even go beyond 2000 nits, while IPS screens can shine up to that level without consuming too much power, especially with whites.

Go buy that OLED screen with burn in all you want. Not everyone needs the deepest of blacks or the highest contrast in this world.

Shanti Dope, 16 Sep 2020IPS LCDs can shine brighter and be more power efficient at ... moreOne more. Viewing angles on a OLED are usually better than IPS LCD. Again, this is why sometimes a IPS LCD panel suffers in bright lighting. Some laptop/monitor makers can mitigate this with matte displays, but this decreases the effective brightness. Apple uses nano-coated displays for some of their monitors (iMac/iMac Pro), still reduces brightness a bit.

Upon further investigation, this phone does not support either LDAC or AptX-HD BT CODEC protocols, so if you use a halfway decent external BT DAC, or any headphones that support those HIFI Bluetooth standards, you are out of luck.

For me and for anyone else that wants a high quality wireless audio experience, this is a deal breaker.

My old Poco F1 does support both of these CODECs however, so I guess I'll not be upgrading to this new X3 model any time soon. I'll hold out for the Poco F3 I suppose and hope that they get it right this time.

                    Lost the AR Core

Can't believe people are getting excited over this. This is the sort of phone you buy your elderly parents.
I wouldn't want to stare at that cheap screen all day. Especially once the refresh rate is turned down to reach that battery rating.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2020oled is better than ips. that is why 90percent of flagships... moreThat's a perception but not necessarily true. If you Google ips or tft LCD v OLED or AMOLED, you'll see a list of pros and cons. You can't just say that one is factually just better. It's not as simplistic as that. Cost or value doesn't always denote what is better. Better viewing angles, darker blacks and more vivid colors overall on amoled. Better whites on ips with a more yellow hue to the whites on amoled. Also, better sunlight visibility on ips and the display is generally more durable.

Shanti Dope, 16 Sep 2020IPS LCDs can shine brighter and be more power efficient at ... moreoled is better than ips. that is why 90percent of flagships and mid tier mobiles use that.

MrMing, 16 Sep 2020Many OLED panels (depending on quality of course) are brigh... moreIPS LCDs can shine brighter and be more power efficient at the same time compared to OLEDs. And IPS screens are better for sunlight visibility due to higher brightness attainable (some only prevent higher peak brightness due to power consumption constraints and to avoid too much black illumination). OLEDs specializes mostly on blacks, but using dark mode in direct sunlight would be useless, and whites are better handled by IPS screens, where OLEDs would typically consume more power than an IPS counterpart at the same level of visibility. Plus, longer time for OLED pixels to shine at their brightest means faster degradation, while IPS screens rely on a backlight, so they can last much longer.

Response times are indeed better on OLEDs, but it's not like such problem is so massive. Heck, we don't hear HRR IPS monitor owners complain about it even though their units definitely suffer from the same problem as well. It's really just because people are looking specifically for it. If nobody tries to find it, then nobody would notice. Simple as that.
I can now tell that my phone also indeed have some ghosting, but only because this comment section told me about it. If not for those comments, I would still be insanely inloved with the fluidity and smoothness of my 120Hz panel.

Laptops with OLED screens are generally more on media consumption than anything else. Gaming laptops, or productivity ones, however, still trust IPS screens more, not only because OLEDs are significantly more expensive, but the maintenance is ridiculously high for the slightest improvements. Picture quality goes to OLEDs in a 60-40 manner, but reliability goes to IPS big time in a 75-25 tally.
