Huawei Mate X2 review

It's extremely weird to see that this FOLDABLE TABLET is reigning supreme over every single other smartphones, including flagships, in GSMArena's Photo Comparison Tool with its AI 50MP mode.

The only one that comes close in terms of detail rendition is S21/+'s 64MP "telephoto" camera, edging Mate X2 out in the natural rendition of texts on the subway map as well as in corner to corner sharpness. But then Mate X2 shows better resolved patterns and lines except around corners, and in low light it completely demolishes S21 which turns the entire image into a horrible smudge to in a desperate attempt to hide the noise.

THIS is how far a Quad Bayer sensor can possibly go when a company utilises its extra resolution information properly through clever image processing algorithms. Recently Xiaomi and Vivo have also joined the club and managed to improve the digital zoom quality in a very similar fashion.

Now Samsung, OnePlus/Oppo, take notes.

They do share the same dimension and resolution but differ in brightness - and usually when manufacturers decide to increase the brightness of the panel, it's an indication that the panels they use are newer generation ones with more power efficient materials.

      The display is the same, made by BOE. They just used different calibration and added better electronic part (different cable) to get 90Hz.

The one on the X2 is 90Hz (vs 60Hz), and it has higher maximum brightness (542 vs 448), and it is also more color accurate. You would've known all this if you actually bothered to read the review...

            If you see both devices side by side, you will see what i mean :)

              If you read the review of this phone, you'll find that the display on the Mate X2 is really good. And it has higher resolution (hence higher PPI), which greatly improves on text sharpness. Browsing content on the web would be far better on Mate X2 compared to Z Fold2.

                  This phone is the epitome of smartphone tech to date. I think it is worth its asking price. Not only are you getting a fine piece of tech, but you're getting a piece of history.

                    PPI is really important :D

                    Samsung has much more better display. Better colours, HDR support, much more better brightness, adaptive 120Hz etc.

                    Power of chipsets...ok in a syntetics benchmarks could find a better results for Kirin, but SoC 865+ has better optimalization and more consistent power.

You must say "GMS doesn't matter to me". GMS is everything in a Androids phone. For tech savvy you can always try to install software via unconventional methods but not the general mass.

All reviews show the mate x2 is better in almost everything. BTW, I would never never buy again a Samsung device. Very shitty service. Now I use since 2 years a Huawei and I am very happy with my phone. Waiting for the new OS to get finally away from Google.

                                  Would like to see huawri fan to praise inward folding design instead of outward from now =). Huawei fan is same like apple now. What apple doing must be the best.

                                        You should also consider the fact that SD card used by other manufacturers is a proprietary format too. It's double standard and stupidity that people accuse Huawei of being greedy for using a proprietary format while they have no problem with *proprietary* SD cards and they even want a slot for a *proprietary* SD card.

                                        Other smartphone manufacturers ditch proprietary SD memory card slot to save space. In contrast, Huawei continues to provide expandability with a NM memory card slot thanks to the fact that NM card format is smaller and most importantly, the same size as a nano SIM card, therefore an NM memory card can be inserted on the opposite side of the nano SIM card tray, without having to increase the dimension of the SIM tray for an additional slot.
