Tann Hauser, 06 Jul 2021CinemaPro which has it. You don't make any sense. An app doesn't prevent an option from existing in basic mode.

It makes sense that they're struggling. They're doing nothing to differentiate themselves. Sony used to have the Compact line, which offered consumers something no other manufacturer did. Now they're just like everyone else, making phablet after phablet after phablet.

I love how in the "cons" they mention it can't do 4k and 120htz at the same time, yet iPhone has neither of these yet never gets listed as a con

GSMarena: We've been in contact with Sony to clarify this and we've been explicitly told that, indeed, 120Hz is achieved in 1080p resolution, while in 4K the refresh rate is always 60Hz.

His readings from other phones seem very off as well, which would make sense given his misunderstanding.

If you see all the other companies doing the good job with it then you can safely assume that it's not really that hard to achieve good results as long as they actually care about the quality.

He clearly stated nits, doing ... moreHe VERBALLY stated nits but his digital LUX meter clearly showed that the display is 1361 Lux - so yes he actually got it all wrong. 1361/pi = 433 nits which is slightly dimmer than what GSMArena measured, but of course I'll take GSMArena's lab testing over a tech Youtuber's not-so well controlled quick test any day of my life.

Afcourse Sony is doing poorly there with just 560 nits. It's hardly better than Xperia 1 II last year which had 540 nits, same for the Xperia 5 II.

Great review at least from Arena, but:

                              1. Top camera adaptation for smaller sensors and perfect HDR in such a device (will be upgraded and will be perfect to test after camera updates Arena!).
                              2. Still best screen over anything that now exists!
                              3. Best durability
                              4. Lightest!
                              5. Top battery backup its weight and size and performance!
                              6. Cheaper at first compared with Crapsung (or any top device) and more refine built!
                              7. Fastest in most situations, compared in YT by few testers than Icrap 12 pro and Crapsung S21 ultra!
                              8. Cleanest Android on the market!

So shut up trolls and swallow that! It's best in every regard, updates will make it perfect!
                              Thanks Arena!

Yeah, and that won't excuse for the fact that you *still* can't find an option for 4K60 recording outside Cinema Pro app, will it? I'm not criticising a lack of feature but a general usability issue here. There is no reason why they can't possibly offer it in the basic mode, and yet you're defending that because it was the case with Xperia 1 II too and people should be complaining about it? lol Ok, what a great reason.

Tann Hauser, 06 Jul 2021No, dont disinform people. He clearly stated nits, doing ... moreThat 1300 nits of brightness is only accesible in HDR content for a few pixels on the screen.
Even budget phones which cost 1/3rd the price of Xperia can reach 1200/1300 nits easily in that mode.
But their display isn't dim indoors (they reach 700-800 nits easily with manual slider) while Xperia topping out at 560 nits which is indeed poor. For comparison, S21 Ultra and MI 11 Ultra are scoring above 900 nits with manual slider

[deleted post]You didn't read what I said and make no logical argument whatsoever. There's nothing to dispute in the first place, end of story.
