TTB, 10 Jan 2022I love Android it's just not consistent. On iPhone EVE... moreNot sure what Android your referring to that is inconsistent and clunky.
It sounds like your comparing a brand that only makes 1 model (flagship, flagship plus, flagship premium) to an assortment of other brands that make phones that start at $100 and go up to $1500.
Have you compared iOS to any flagship (vanilla through premium) iterations and did a comparison? I'm not a fan of Xiaomi or Huawei but if they cost the same as Samsung Android will surely be polished quite nicely.
iOS is just plain garbage.

perhaps it is not important but all my wifi access points have disabled DHCP and all share single gateway and DHCP server (wifi access points have cables in LAN and not using WAN ports), yep that makes 3 routers in total :)

in general with Iphones/ipads you are getting used to not care about some things like android users do, eg.
    closing apps,
    disabling wifi,
    disabling bluetooth,
    disabling NFC,
    disabling GPS,
transfering data to and from phone via cable,
messing with SD cards, which at best suitable for cold storage of video, audio and photo archives.
cleanup for system (just look in file manager how messy system gets after long use)

I am on Mi 11 Ultra now, changing phones every 3-4 years (went through HTC Touch Pro 2, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S5, Mate 10 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra).

I too find a few quirks in Xiaomi's MIUI. Ironically, I feel Huawei's EMUI is a bit more polished than MIUI and maybe even more than Samsung (I occasionally get to play with a Samsung S21, too, so I am not talking here about the ancient Android version that I had on my S5).

George, do you recall what things you didn't like about Mi 11 Ultra? I am just curious :). Thanks!

It's not like we aren't aware you can do this - it's that you HAVE to do this kind of stuff to get your smartphone working the way you want it to. Most people just want something that works, not a headache.

The fact that I can't put apps to the bottom of the screen just makes me laugh. Sorry, iOS, you're just terrible. I've read the I don't like parts and was astounded to find some vital functions are absent. It's not done for users, it's a disaster. I'm silent about trashy navigation system with far close buttons

I love Android it's just not consistent. On iPhone EVERYTHING works as it's intended. I don't have to force close apps because the developer didn't make it to specifically run on my phone. I can use my thumb to effortlessly glide through menus and apps. Androids rendition is clunky at best. When the new iOS is released Everyone with an iphone gets it. Can say that with android. The iphone is connected to my macbook for seamless transitions. Google said you'll need a Chromebook. How about no.

All of that and I'll never see myself with just an iPhone. I currently have a LG V60.

Torq, 05 Jan 2022I have iPhone 13 mini and I completely disagree with you. F... moreThere are more than hundred different things that iOS can't do but Android can. List will be too long to list...
IOS doesn't even have always on display that existed on Android a decade back

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2022Yes sideload aps on a phone I use for work and banking , go... moreLiterally no one has had their data stolen because of sideloading apps.
Besides, it's an option to choose from (turned off by default) instead of the locked restrictive mess of iOS.

Anonymous, 31 Dec 2021Which bloatware on iOS? Among all apps that come instal... moreYou can already remove Facebook, Google photos etc without root using adb app control, but a tech amateur like you is busy playing expert when you are far from it.

DMX, 03 Jan 2022Well, I would never pay more than 500 dollars for an Androi... moreI ain't gonna pay 1000 dollars for a smartphone. I would rather spend 3000 for a laptop but not more than 750 for a smartphone. S21FE 5G looks like a good phone, maybe after half a year, its gonna be in retail for 550-600. I guess that makes it a very good deal. I don't wanna buy those Ch craps so only Apple/Samsung/Sony for me.

I had moved many years ago from iOS to Android and the initial years of Android had been very frustrating. Late last year I moved "back" to iOS because my silly car system did not support Android Auto only Apply CarPlay. I bought a used iPhone 11 Pro Max and ran iOS 15. After two months I moved back to Android as my daily driver and bought a used iPhone SE for my car's entertainment system.

What I like about my iPhone
                      - Build Quality
                      - Phone & Weather App
                      - Nice Screen
                      - Facetime was scary fast
                      - Keeps its value well but also a lot more expensive than the competition
                      - Some apps look nicer on iOS only just...
                      - Updates are very quick

                      What I got frustrated with:
                      - Facetime was useless outside as we had to wear masks and ended up keying in all the time. I began to appreciate the S21 fingerprint sensor a lot more
                      - Handling and engaging notifications was not as intuitive as my S21
                      - Widgets on an Android phone so much more intuitive & functional. On the iPhone some of them felt like big icons
                      - To change a setting like my Wi-Fi AP (have 3 Wi-Fi APs at home) took too many steps on the iPhone. With my S21 it was done in 3 quick steps - I have to do this often when I move around my home
                      - No Back or Return swipe
                      - iPhone Keyboard is basic, it's too simplistic. I loaded Gboard but did not appear to work as nicely as on my S21 and too much space is eaten up under the keyboard
                      - If I wanted to close Apps, I could not do a "close all" but individually on an iPhone unlike my S21
                      - The Gallery app on my S21 was a lot more functional and better sorted out. I could also easily organize or view my pictures any way I needed it to
                      - My S21 calculator had additional functions like a handy conversion tool nicely integrated
                      - For almost the same screen size the S21+ did not feel like a brick that the iPhone 11 Pro Max felt like - the iPhone was just too bulky for the screen size I needed
                      - Google Assistant is miles and miles better than Siri. Bixby is lousy
                      - I am on a Windows and Google eco-system so better if I stick to Android
                      - Finally, iPhone and the lighting port/cable - even the Macs have moved to USB-C
                      - Update releases are getting better especially for the newer phones

I wanted to like the iPhone but it was too "basic", restrictive and was not as intuitive and functional like my S21+. Not too bothered about the "fragmentation" in the Android phones- it just adds alot of "flavour" and choices.
Android has come a long way .... I feel (repeat "I" - my opinion only - I am entitled to my own opition) Android is the better operating system for phones

I'm an iOS user for the last 7 years, used Android before, and this is a great article that showcases what's good and what's bad about the iOS experience. I do miss some of the features and customization capabilities of Android but, and this is just my opinion, the things that iOS does well make up for it in my daily work and life. Both great OSes in their own right.

i would literally switch to iphone ONLY if they add back gesture from both sides of the screen. i find the current back gesture on iphone completely disqualifying it from using with one(right) hand.

Given a choice, i want Andriod phone. my ultimate decision in purchasing is small and of course within my budget. hence Iphone SE 2020. wrote to a couple of Andriod phone maker would like to see their flagship or medium flagship small phone but looks like all are trying to compete for larger size.... a few new "small" Andriod phone launch in 2021 but nothing as small as SE 2020 yet. am still waiting, hopeful 2022 would find an android flagship.

Although the screen has grown, it is still most inconvenient to be able to use the back gesture only on the left side. Also, the album's photo management method is very inconvenient.

I'm reading and re reading this article.
I seriously don't know how many such articles are there on the web which really shows these differences and the fallacies of an iOS running phone.
Seriously, I've seen Android fanboy articles smashing the iOS counterparts to bits, but believe me, this is how an article should be written, with actual experiences.
                                        I'm overwhelmed. Kudos.
