Anonymous, 08 Jan 2022Yeah of course you noticed stutters apple fan boy...I had the same "issues" with Exynos S20FE. Bought it as an intended upgrade over hubby's A70. However the day I gifted him he complained it would heat a lot more. Then, he installed Genshin Impact and we both noticed it would stutter a lot on medium settings. The retailer refused to have it returned, claimed Genshin Impact wasn’t compatible with it.

Two days later I gifted him an iPhone 12, sold the S20FE online weeks later. While he despises certain Apple restrictions he encountered, he’s more than satisfied with performance and stability.

For video I use VLC, just need to enable http server. WiFi transfers are pretty fast and convenient.

I had the iPhone 13 Pro for 6 weeks coming from thr Exy 21 Ultra, almost immeditate regret. Now running the Pix 6. Havent looked back! Had the 12 Pro max, got rid of it for the same reason as the 13 Pro. The night photos of stars and lightning are absolute rubbish. Even against the Z flip 2 i had, the 12PM was shocking. Long live Android and decent cameras

Just curious, what do you do to circumvent the annoyance of not being able to transfer files easily from the iPhone to a computer?

I switched from Android 2 years ago, and recently replaced XR with 81% degraded battery to 13 Pro.
Not having as many UI tweaking options isn’t a bummer. Not being able to plug it straight to a PC and copy/paste files is the only major annoyance I have dealt with so far. But it doesn’t take much effort to circumvent iOS restrictions.
Definitely not a fan of certain Apple practises, like omitting the charger and still employing lightning connector.

Goximus, 06 Jan 2022Main problem for us - android updates... The main proble... moreI have also noticed battery drains on my wife’s Samsung phone after the Android 11 and 12 updates (Android 10 being the release OS on her S10e), but it stabilized with a reboot here and there and after some usage.

Perhaps the system just needs to relearn to limit background activity of unused or seldom used apps and processes.

Still, I agree that the performance of iOS 15 on older devices such as the iPhone 6S is impressive. I’m still hoping for Android phones to follow suit eventually. I still have an old S7 as a secondary phone that works okay, but the battery life is abysmal and it’s been over a year since its last security update.

IpsDisplay, 31 Dec 2021On Android I can Get APKs for apps that are region locke... moreI’d say that this is precisely the point of owning an iPhone:

It’s for the user with average needs - often owning other Apple devices which flawlessly integrate. So no need for a sophisticated file management, third party apps and professional camera settings.

The average iOS user doesn’t seem to understand the appeal of Android, and why would they? They don’t need nor want deep customization options.

Personally, I have always used Android devices of various manufacturers, but also own an iPad and got an iPhone 11 from my employer. The limitations I notice on iOS/iPadOS are something that my boss wouldn’t even understand, never having used an Android device (and being clearly prejudiced against them). But I have to admit that the iPhone just works well with very few hiccups and good battery life. Isn’t that what most professionals want?

What tech enthusiasts need to understand, IMO, is this:

People have different needs - what’s right for you may be different from what’s right for others. My wife, for instance, only cares about the camera, size, battery life and the colour of her phone - and that the photos transfer to her PC easily. That’s literally it! She is the typical Samsung customer, but would probably prefer an iPhone if she used a Mac.

The constant debates over iOS vs. Android are IMO often childish. I appreciate the author’s perspective and would agree with much of what he wrote.

But reading this make me re-evaluate my decision. Also may I ask, what do you think of your S20 FE now? I have used iPhone 5s in the past, then moved to S7 Edge. Both works fine just, Samsung is very laggy after 2 years of usage while my iPhone was hot after 2 years of usage (but not as laggy as android phones). I am considering to get either S20 FE or iPhone 11. Your answer here would weigh a lot on my decision. Thanks before

People always forget that android smartphones are a linux machine in essence ... and it means that you are not forced to keep the original oem software.
For better experience, we install a custom rom just like other linux distributions for PC !
If you are not familiar or not comfortable with customization, it's better to stick with a closed source like iOS ... Simple as it is !

The main proble... moreLastly, I tried lately S20FE for a few hours, and immediately noticed constant stutters in applications, system and cameras. Nothing big, but noticeable because there aren't any on my Iphone.

For now I still miss some things from android, but as time goes on, I find it missing less and less. Now it seems to me that Iphone pros (stability, fluidity, no problems after updates, long support) far outweighs its cons (and cons, for me, turns out to be just annoyances with adjusting to iOS way)

Main problem for us - android updates...

The main problem that Android has is that after updates (especially big ones, e.g. from 10 to 11), more often than not your device would start to misbehave, from unknown battery drains, to all sorts of system unstabilities, and only way to completely solve it is to factory reset your system...

In our firm we use Huawei P20 and Mate 20 pros, Samsung notes, and F20FEs, Xiaomis and Iphones, and ever now and then somebody on Android devices have problems after updates (most often battery drains), no matter the manufacturer.

Yes, iPhone could have some bugs after updates, and is often solved after next update, but on iphones we never had the need to factory reset it.

And I think that nobody likes to factory reset smartphone, especially if you have all your life on it. For e.g. some bank applications that we use - you need to go to the bank to get new code for reinstalation, it can't be done from application...

I'm also new iOS user, after 10 years of Android usage. Last I was using Huawei P9, then Mate 20 pro, and then S20FE, but now I'm giving chance to iPhone 12 pro - on it for a few months.

My reasons for switch was that cameras are now good enough on newer iPhones as on other Android flagships (that wasn't the case in the past) and to also familiarise with iOS, but I think that main decision came after I bought iPhone 6s for my mother, and saw level of fluidity on it that is on another level compared with my old P9 (that my daughter uses), and P9 is a year newer device. Also some applications arent supported anymore on P9, it had 2 android upgrades, and that's it, while Iphone 6s is on newest. (We were using Life 360 app for family tracking, and it doesn't work anymore on P9)

I'm still getting used to iOS. At first it seemed like simple os, with limitations compared to Android, but all the time i find out new things on how to do certain things that i thought was missing compared to Android, and i find a lot new more that I wasn't able to do on any of android devices I had ( e.g. for my daughter film class on school she had to film video in PAL format, and none of android devices support it, but Iphone does)

Lastly, I tried lately my older S20FE for a few hours
