I think Realme spent a lot of time optimizing the JN1 for their phones, unlike Xiaomi. The same sensor on the Realme 8i and this phone, blows away Xiaomi's implementation of the same sensor on both the Redmi 10 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro

The display would break up and fragment. Changing screen resolution and refresh rate didn't help.
Other issues were that Chrome pages stuttered and froze and links didn't work. At the same time the same page worked well on another, older phone. It may have been due to the heat of the phone as it would heat up occasionally. Maybe that was contributing to throttling the performance?
I returned it as I didn't want to risk being caught with a faulty screen. I may have just been unlucky as I haven't seen any other reports of the same thing.
Call quality was also very poor with a harsh tone.
The camera seemed very good, except for night shots which were too overexposed and looked unnatural.
The feel and size of the phone felt quite premium. It didn't feel too heavy or large in hand. The grey case looked and felt really nice when attached.
The software was fine.
I was very disappointed with this phone not working out. I like a flat screen on my phone and that limits the options available, especially with a good camera.
I'm now considering the OnePlus 9, Galaxy S21 FE and Vivo X70. And perhaps the Galaxy S21+ and Google Pixel 6 although they're both quite expensive here.

I think the GT2 pro is better as a regular phone, while the ROG 5 is better if you do heavy gaming(mostly because the side USB port makes playing while charging convenient). In terms of picture quality, the GT2 pro takes much better with the default cam, but the ROG takes better pics with GCAM(the gt2 pro doesn't have any dedicated configs yet for GCAM, so it's not very good yet). The screen on the GT2 pro is much much better than the ROG. In terms of standby and battery performance, they honestly feel about the same, meaning they drain faster than you'd think. The GT2 pro lasts a bit longer when watching videos(thanks to the ltpo 2 screen), the ROG lasts a bit longer when browsing (thanks to the bigger batt).

Was really interested in this phone specially at the local introduction price of about 610 Euro for the top model. BUT, after seeing the terrible selfies and the 1080p video on that same sensor, i decided against it. I want great camera's at this price, not a bad selfie cam and equally useless macro cam.

I could ask the same thing, where... moreSome people slap FLACS and other hi res audio files in their phones tho, so the using a phone as a dedicated music player argument is legit. That said, I do not buy the whole headphone jack = no waterproofing argument at all. Sony's xperia, Asus's Zenfone 8, and Samsung's A series all manage an IP rating with their jacks. What the 3.5mm headphone jack really compromises is battery size, and I'd make the argument that a fair amount of people can use a bigger battery vs a headphone jack. That said, a good dongle DAC(USB C to 3.5) easily blows subpar inbuilt headphone jacks(tested on A52s and Xperia 5ii) out of the water, so unless your phone has an unusually beefy internal DAC(like the ROG 5), you're better off using an external headphone jack anyway.
