Anonymous, 18 May 2022yeah boy the 3.5mm jack thank you! There's phones like the rog 5 or v60 for that which costs dramatically less, actually have quad dacs so much better support that 3.5mm, and even dedicated amps on the rog for the dramatically better speakers.
All the while the still go head to head or even surpass in speakers, camera, battery, brightness, etc.
Just to name those two.

Anonymous, 17 May 2022What do you mean by 1.5x?5.2/3.5 ≈ 1.5. The periscope camera itself is capable of optically zooming in 1.5x, which, IMO, isn't worth it given how much sharpness the lens loses as it zooms in further. Last year's implementation on Xperia 5 III was much better image quality wise.

vrvly, 17 May 2022What about saving the planet instead, Just buy 120W charger... moreBut it still makes more sense to put a charger in a £1300 phone
We all know that the first time u buy a smartphone u need to charge it before use and also using first party accessories for smartphones is more hassle free
Nd u said something about saving the planet but if u buy a separate charger it is one extra packaging instead of just one coming with ur smartphone
Buying one charger to do all makes sense but not all charging speed tech are the same
No charger in the box or even cable is not a dealbreaker for me if the smartphone is worth it, but still it doesn't make any sense

It seems more like the competition going backwards than Sony moving forward. Apple didn't have foliage issues a couple years ago for example. As for this Sony, the maximum brightness is both disappointing and concerning, IMO 700nits is the minimum for summer sunshine, and was already achieved in smartphones over half a decade ago, the throttling is also a major issue that seems only worse compared to previous models. As for the zooming periscope.........who needs x1.5 optical? What's the point? This is not UWA territory with dramatic perspective changes where fine tuning FoV matters a lot, they should go 2x or go home. And a continuous zoom is no "feat" either, in fact non-continuous zoom is in the solid minority, the first ever consumer zoom lens(Voigtlander Zoomar) was a continuous zoom, and only Leica fiddles with non-continuous zooms because of limitations to their archaic rangefinder system(Tri-Elmar), and even one of the Tri-Elmars actually renders proper images without notable quality loss if intentionally zoomed to in-between FLs, meaning it was designed optically a normal zoom, only with clicks at certain FLs added to the housing, so if you dismantle the lens and remove the click mechanism, it would be a continuous zoom for all intents and purposes.

That's why the price ... moreNope.
Check this video, at 12.30 you'll see stabilization go off after setting 120 fps.

Rotciv Ikias, 16 May 2022But it makes more sense to put a charger in the box What about saving the planet instead, Just buy 120W charger and it will last for years with sony. My 2.5year old phone can do 33W, for this new pricy xperia is 30W maximum.
How many chargers you need, it depends on person, not everyone needs slow chargers and load of cables.

Really? Damn.. The sensor is definitely capable of fast readout and surely the write speed of the UFS 3.X storage of 1 IV surpasses that of the fastest SD card supporting the UHS-II standard. I'm surprised to see that Sony never implemented the feature on it.

Anonymous, 17 May 2022I really don't know what to say to this. You got all t... moreMi 11 Ultra doesn't stack frames for video recording, in fact it reads out pixels at different gain settings to create two versions of the same frame, then combines them together to improve SNR. So far, none of the video samples I've seen from Mi11U looks hazy nor lacks contrast - they look fairly balanced even under harsh lighting, and it's impressively free of noise at night while maintaining the "look" of the night without crushing the shadows or blowing out highlights.
"when you are talking about noise have you taken a full res file with Mi 11 Ultra"
You just said it. It's "full res", a mode that is supposed to be used during the day where the increase in noise level would be somewhat irrelevant compared to the resolution gain. The noise seems to be very well controlled on the full resolution samples on GSMArena, at least.

Idk what took Sony so long to pull off this terrific camera performance. No sugar coating here, but the previous Xperias (XZ, Z5 series etc.) were just trailing behind when compared to other flagships during their time. But this Xperia 1 IV is on the opposite end now. I do agree that its camera performance this time is absolutely stellar. Outstanding performance is now legit for a flagship-grade phone. How I wish they'd done this in the recent years. Albeit late, hats off to Sony this time. Marvelous!
