They'll fix it. And my friend in Norway has an Xperia 1III and his zoom lens is tack sharp

joe nodden, 16 May 2022Pay $1600 for a phone, get something that thermal throttles... moreAnd which will only get like one OS update, two at best if you're lucky. Sounds like a rip-off, but apparently that's just the Sony experience for you. :)

LOL, 16 May 2022The point is: there's just no point getting a flagship... more"In Japan, about two thirds of the people use an iPhone. "
Is it tho? Because this statistic shows otherwise where they share 50:50 of the market, with android having the slight upper hand than iOS:

YUKI93, 15 May 2022I have friends who did own flagship phones but later ended ... moreThe point is: there's just no point getting a flagship Sony phone. The software support, after sales service and resale value are all terrible.

You might want to get a midrange phone, but even then, there are better options compared to the offerings from Sony. It all boils down to brand loyalty and the willingness to pay a premium for what is proven to be an inferior product.

In Japan, about two thirds of the people use an iPhone. Sony is fighting for scraps on what's leftover for Android.

Anonymous, 15 May 2022In AUTO/BASIC mode it is. They've made a lot of improv... moreLight gathering capability of Xperia Pro-I is hindered due to sensor's high base ISO, and further reduced by significant cropping and lens' slow apeture. There are many midrange phones that perform similar to Xperia Pro-I in terms of amount of light intake.

Raw pixel pitch is for modern high resolution mobile sensors are not strictly relevant as under normal circumstances their pixels are binned to simulate the effect of larger pixels anyway. Mi 11 Ultra with 1.4 micron pixels still dominate whatever Sony has released when it comes to signal to noise ratio, why? 2.8 micron pixels after binning, along with better sensor technology to further reduce sensor noise are the answers.

At the end of the day, Sony failed to deliver to its promise of continuous optical zoom by using a clearly diffraction limited lens that suffers from moderate to extreme softness across the entire frame for Xperia 1 IV tele camera. Hyping up a new tech then letting people down with a terrible execution is what other Android phone manufacturers had often done in the past, and now, Sony is following their steps but 5 years later.

joe nodden, 16 May 2022Pay $1600 for a phone, get something that thermal throttles... moreSony can't sell many Xperia phones these days, so might as well price-gouge the remaining handful of super loyal Sony fans who cheerfully pay the premium for a Xperia phone.

Pay $1600 for a phone, get something that thermal throttles down to half its performance in minutes.

AnonD-1039478, 16 May 2022I've just seen a review of this on YouTube and the rev... moreIf that happens to be true I sincerely hope they will fix it, Xperia 1 III also had a similar lens QC issue and Sony never addressed it until the end.

AnonD-1039478, 16 May 2022And how do you know?? Have you got one?? Stupid commentAre you kidding me? How rude and negligent are you??
It even said the previous brightness was 570. Now its 600. Manual brightness may have gotten a bump but actual brightness barely was touched. The 50% is a HUUUUUGE lie. Not even a small one.
They say creative mode gave like 650. And they got up to 680 in specific cases but not normally.

Not to mention that 650 was stated here on gsmarrna to be more like being in Google in photos app rather than throughout the ui.

So if you have enough read the article or been familiar with the previous one you would know.

The only one thats close to 50% is if they compare it to the pro which had a pitiful brightness of 460ish nits. Matching the 8 year old galaxy s4.

I've just seen a review of this on YouTube and the reviewer mentioned that Sony told them all review samples have an issue with the zoom lens where it's not working properly and has focus issues. Which explains the rather fuzzy looking zoomed shots

Anonymous, 13 May 2022I don't think those who care about a dedicated camera ... morexperia cameras are focused on capturing fast and in focus, unlike what you get with hi res sensors. Depends on what you shoot, but capturing eyes sharp is better on sony.
New xperia is also sharper than last gen and details are not just about pixels, there are 12mp full frame cameras too.

well, 13 May 2022Super fast focus makes no sense in that phone with relative... moredid not see that lie anywhere...

Anonymous, 11 May 2022By justifying Sony's actions, you are opening a Pandor... moreIf you got charger why there is a need. I bought one device with even 3(!) chargers. There is just too many of them.
