Anonymous, 09 Jul 20224 years since the introduction of quad bayer sensors, yet S... moreBecause they are not meant to be used at full resolution.

It cannot give the results of Bayer sensor because full res mode is 100% software, unlike the 12MP that is hardware/software based.

This will never change. It is limitation of this tech that cannot be overcome. This is why iphone 48 MP is Bayer CFA.

Raffel, 09 Jul 2022How is tjis a downgrade? Just go compare it with last gen, there are tools to do it.

Same SoC as last year, SD card removed, 5MP from telephoto to 2MP.

Only main camera is up from 64 to 108MP, faster charge and on screen scan.

There are some aspect downgraded from last gen.

Fredwinia, 09 Jul 2022I always have problems with xiaomi devices. Yellow spots on... moreI have the opposite experience from yours. Realme devices (Realme C3, Realme 6, Realme X3 SZ) in my family all have their own issues such as lines on display, poor wifi connection, display ghosting and horrendous battery life. No doubt that Realme has better software but quality control seems kinda lacking. Security updates also not as timely as you said, with some updates taking 3 months in between.

Conversely, Xiaomi devices been serving us pretty well. Among my family members, we used Redmi Note 8, Mi A3 and Mi 9T. We are still using Poco F3, Mi 10T Pro and my personal incoming X4 GT. We also use Samsungs and Iphones, so we are not really the loyal to 1 brand type.

This might have the best screen (atleast, in paper) at that price range

They replaced the telemacro camera with a crappy 2MP one, that's a no buy for me

Pumpino, 09 Jul 2022It seems like Xiaomi skimped on the battery size to keep it... more870 is much more power efficient than 888.

Anyhow Motorola Edge 30 is thinner and with smaller battery, yet it gets mostly same battery life as this Xiaomi, I assume MIUI needs some fixing under the hood battery wise.

4 years since the introduction of quad bayer sensors, yet Sony and Samsung still cannot figure out how to produce good quality full resolution images out of them. Nonacell is making it even worse, more noise, more color artifacts, more worms, these 108MP photos look just as bad as Fuji's x-trans raw files rendered in lightroom.

Plz bring back true bayer high resolution sensors asap, the future of smartphone photography is not lookin' well!

It seems like Xiaomi skimped on the battery size to keep it thin. It's not a great idea with the higher end SD 7 and 8 chips. The SD778, 780, 870 and 888 don't seem to be as efficient as earlier SDs, or as efficient as the new Dimensity chips.

I don't know if it's just me, but I always seem to prefer Sony camera sensors. I've had Samsung sensors on the Redmi Note 11, 11 Lite and Galaxy S20 FE, and they don't do it for me.

Also, the flat, boxy design is so iPhone-like. Hands and fingers aren't flat.

I'd be inclined to choose the Realme 9 Pro+ over this.

I really like the design, and the color choices, HOWEVER, it's ridiculous to even compare Realme UI with MIUI. There isn't a "preference" because even their flagships suffer from occasional stutters or random UI reloads. I'm not a hater, I just want to see Xiaomi revamping their god-awful software.

Edit: Speaking of software, I just noticed that this phone is still on April's security patch. Major yikes!
