AnonD-1061512, 22 Aug 2022Well, I am not saying that my assessment was 100% correct, ... moreNo, you can't really use a 5 year old flagship to compare to a current phone. If Nothing Phone 1 had a Snapdragon 8 Series Chip, it would be no worse on paper than something like a Xiaomi 12 Pro or a Realme GT series phone. So you are purely calling it a midrange phone cos of the chip, while you call 10T a flagship purely cos of the chip even though it has the same Camera set up as a Realme 9 Pro+ which costs less than half it's price and lacks the extra features that characterises all proper flagships in recent years. My problem isn't with calling Nothing Phone a midrange phone, it's more to do with how you think 10T is a flagship and is leagues above the Nothing Phone when all it has going for it is the chipset and charging. And a Snapdragon 778G+ has more performance than you need for any user who is not a gamer with the added benefit of extra battery life. And if gaming is a priority then you wouldn't be looking at a Nothing Phone anyway.
I am not sure what country you are from but a Nothing Phone 1 is significantly cheaper than the 10T in India. Infact, in India it competes with the 10R in price and thats a phone that is practically identical to 10T apart from the chipset being a 8100, which is still a high end 2022 chip.
Also, I have been a loyal OnePlus user since 2016 starting with 3T and then a 7T which i am still using. But the current OnePlus phones are so mediocre and the software especially with Oxygen OS 12 and 13 has became so bad and riddled with so many bugs and stability issues, and the software support in general has become one of the worst among premium Android phones. So, in this day and age, I wouldn't call OnePlus a better brand than any other Android brand, even Nothing deserves a chance and probably won't be as bad as OnePlus is right now.

why is everything glass (hello shatter) front and back with every reviewer saying how premium it feels in their hand (I sure hope they mean the phone) while then saying how slippery it feels. Then because they are so easy to smash are supplied with a silicon condom to eradicate the premium hand feel.
Are we aiming for 250g next? Should it be too big for any pocket so must always be held in the hand showing off its owners status?
Sadly its been same same for about 5 years now

Syn, 22 Aug 2022You really call this phone a flagship level device and rele... moreWell, I am not saying that my assessment was 100% correct, but by your judgment, the iPhone 8 should be considered a flagship device nowadays.
Anyway, I still think the OnePlus 10T is more of a flagship phone than the Nothing Phone. Even the Nothing company promoted the Nothing phone as a mid-range device.
And yes, chipset is very important in a phone, especially when the differences are high. I mean SD8+ gen 1 is probably the best chipset on the market right now (from Android side).
If the Nothing phone would have used a SD870, or SD888 (which by the way, they could easily done), then yes, it could have been more a flagship.
And I still do think that the Nothing phone is overpriced for what it offers. In my country it cost almost double the price of some SD778 phones (like Xiaomi Mi Lite 5G NE or Realme GT Master Edition). And I am certain that some IP rating and wireless charging doesn't cost that much to put on a phone.
Not to mention is from a new company that hasn't show us anything yet. Just hype.
I am not saying that OnePlus is a super company (especially nowadays), but if I had to choose just between this 2 phones, I will never choose the Nothing phone.

AnonD-1061512, 21 Aug 2022Dude, it is a silly question. You are wondering what to get... moreYou really call this phone a flagship level device and relegate the nothing phone to midrange? You do realise a phone is more than just a chipset right? That guy asked a very valid question.
If anything Nothing is closer to a flagship phone than the 10T. It has Wireless Charging, reverse wireless charging, IP rating, glass and metal build (unlike the plastic frame on the OnePlus) and even a better camera set up than the 10T. It even has better battery life. The only places where OnePlus 10T is convincingly better are charging speed and Processor speed, but that hardly makes it a much better phone, forget acting like it's a S22 Ultra vs Poco X4 Pro comparison.

They have become mainstream. Putting nice specs on paper, with fairly decent prices, but the phones are usable for 1 year maximum.
Hardware is 0, if you don't have a good and stable software to work with it. You will never be 100% satisfy with that nice specs phone, if it's full of bugs.

OnePlus got terribly poor with the updates which in older days it was known for. No more OnePlus. I regret choosing it.

AnonD-1061512, 21 Aug 2022In which parallel universe is the OnePlus 10T twice as much... moreI agree that Nothing is expensive and overpriced in most countries. In my country Malaysia for example, Nothing Phone with 12/256 is only US$100 cheaper than the 10T with 16/256. US$100 is small change for the gulf of specs between the midrange and flagship phones.

Is like asking somebody, what to get between Galaxy S22 Ultra and Poco X4 Pro or something. Lol.
Now to answer your question, if you have the money for it, go for the OnePlus 10T. If you don't have the money for it, there are better priced phones than the Nothing phone out there. In my opinion, and especially where I live, Nothing phone is overpriced.

Or maybe with some discounts or something. Is more expensive, but not twice is much. And the top model of Nothing phone is 580EUR where I live. I doubt that the OnePlus 10T is 1200EUR.

But they do keep upping the price and no consistent design language.
One reason I like my oneplus phone is it has video out via usb-c. I wish this was standard across all devices.

I've been a OP user since the 3T but seeing them cr*p on us like this by dropping the slider and delivering subpar cameras makes me want to take my money elsewhere.
