Anonymous, 03 Sep 2022And overpriced.Depending on what you value. To me a screen without notch or punch hole and a 3.5 jack is worth something. Someone might be a xiaomi fan but shouldn't expect everyone to be.

Tann Hauser, 04 Sep 2022https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s22-review-2396p4.php... moreI have used s10e and s20/S20FE before with exynos and came back to apple. Recently bought a S21FE for my wife and saw a big difference in battery life. She uses her phone the whole day :p and is satisfied.

no S8+G1 chipset, non HRR 120Hz display and still such a solid battery life.how did they achieve that???
triple camera,microSD,3.5mm jack and 5000mah battery...quite rich in terms of specs in such a compact footprint.

Dani, 04 Sep 2022Nicely said. Yeah, the 5 IV is consciously made with flaws ... moreDont know about 8gen1, but Im certain telephoto downgrade is due to internals.
Keep in mind they rammed a 5000maH battery, bigger selfie cam module, and wireless charging, in the same occupational space that was used for last years much bigger telephoto camera module....

If you say this one is not compact because of its height, Id reply that other one is not compact because of its width...
Either way, it is not a small phone, but then again for todays phone size standards, it is relatively compact, just as any other more compact flagship phone.

TheLastOracle, 04 Sep 2022"The telephoto camera is reported to use the same 12MP... moreIMX650 is the name of the 40MP Quad RYYB sensor used on the P30 and Mate 30 series, so even if this and the one on Xperia share the same internal codenames, they are still not the same sensor.
DRAM-embedded sensors deliver worse image quality than those that are not, by the way - Fujifilm's X-H2S can't match X-T4 in terms of SNR for this exact reason. You either get a cleaner image or a faster readout speed, and IMO, most of the time the tradeoff is worth it.

Why sd gen 1 with all the overheating issue instead of gen 1 plus.

TheLastOracle, 04 Sep 2022"The telephoto camera is reported to use the same 12MP... moreSmaller sensors cannot compete with larger sensors.
Go see on youtube how easy ZV-1 (vlogger version of RX100 7) humiliates iphone 13 pro max.
It is like trying to challenge a F1 car when you drive a FIAT 500.
DRAM has no positive impact on image quality. It even reduces DR by 0,5-1.0 stops.
Penalty to increase the readout.
A9 and A7iii both are 24MP, the A7iii has more DR also better performance at higher ISO.

Do not believe the rumor that upcoming Pro-i 2 in november has 48MP 1" + 48MP 1/1.3" + 48MP 1/1.7".
It is fake ...

"The telephoto camera is reported to use the same 12MP sensor as the Xperia 1 IV's tele - a Sony IMX 650, though this particular imager is supposed to be 40MP. What's important though, is that the sensor is a 12MP 1/3.5" with 1.0µm pixels and supports PDAF."
Is it a 12MP sensor or 40MP sensor? Are you using some translation app for translating without proof-reading?
I saw some reviews saying the camera ovwrheats very easily. Plus the two camera apps have different levels of features and ease of use. They don't share commonality in feature sets.
I wonder if Samsung and Sony can work together to create a Triple Gain camera sensor, with DRAM, and on-board ISP to vastly improve image quality. So that small pixel image sensors can compete with much larger pixel sensors on image quality. It would be especially useful for video.

LoneOwl, 04 Sep 2022So from what i ve read some pros and cons
Pros
+compact... moreIt will get up to Android 14 no worries.
This phone doesn't have a zoom option like 1IV it has portrait telephoto for shooting portraits like PRO-I.
Yeah overheating Samsung made SoC in small chasis is the only reason not to get this phone but other than that it's close to a perfect phone as you can get. Eventually heat from SoC will kill the display, battery life and could even damage pcb soldering.

It's a shame that the screen is too small, plus only one year OS support, so basically I'll pass.

So from what i ve read some pros and cons
Pros
+compact design
+no notch/punch hole
+ip68
+wireless charging
+3.5mm jack
+stereo speakers
+microSD
+notification led
+good main camera
+very good battery
Cons
-only 2years of OS updates or basically 1 since we are very close to android 13 release...
-no charger/cable in the box
-worse telephoto camera from xperia 1 IV
-heavy throttling/bad cooling
-no very good fast charging
-doesnt have latest snap 8+ gen1
-only 8/128 for this price range.
-limited availability to some markets.
This and Asus Zenfone 9 are obviously the best compact android flagship devices on the market, but they are not for everyone because of their compromises.

Tann Hauser, 04 Sep 2022Other phones dont have a feature of 4k 120 fps video either... moreI don't think that GSMArena thinks much of 4K120 videos. Apparently, 4K30 videos have more details than 4K60 videos. This review doesn't have 4K120 videos, but logic dictates that they will have even less details. 4K120 videos only make sense when you want slow-motion videos. But let's be honest, when you shoot videos, you want normal or slow-motion videos most of the time?

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2022And of course what doesn't show up in the camera tests... moreOther phones dont have a feature of 4k 120 fps video either.
Now Thinking about it, it seems very odd that that important top camera feature is kinda ignored when comparing competitor phones, not being conned against them for that omission at all.
But a feature like nightmode omission is constantly conned against Xperias.
Xperias made slow motion video a common thing back in the days (its as common as nightmode in flagship phones today), and now have industry leading 4k 120fps HDR slowmotion video as a top feature.
But, all other flag phones not having it...seems to be not a camera feature con.
Xperias not having a dedicated nightmode...is a camera feature con.
?!?
