Seriously now? I bought the Asus rog phone 6 and i couldn't use it as a hotspot wi fi device.
I return it, they gave me a brand new one and same issue apperas. Hotspot doesnt work in this device. I force my self to return it for good. What a shame a 1200 EURO smartphone device to have this kind of issue.
And now they announced the ultimate version? JOKE

[deleted post]This. Can't stand the dudegamerbro aesthetics. I much prefer the more understated design like that of the Razer Phone

So Asus disable the Dual Sim Dual Active feature on this model too?

It seems that having a fan really does help a lo to keep the overall performance. That can explain why Sony also make a cooling fan case for the Xperia 1 Mk4. However, that Geekbench 5 multi-core and AnTuTu 9 score difference between the Snapdragon-powered 6 Pro and the Dimensity-powered 6D Ultimate, both in normal non-X Mode, is totally noticeable.

First time knowing this phone and thought GSMArena were now doing "Ultimate reviews" hahaha.

Would've loved to see mediatek 9000+ used on a relatively compact flagship. I'm really impressed by its Geekbench score.

These smartphones are such a niche, it doesn’t really matter how durable the hardware or software are. People will buy these just to be different and for the spec sheet.

Anonymous, 21 Sep 2022D8100 is not even stronger than 865, but benchmarks higher ... moreD8100 is more efficient than 865. Also has more L2 cache (that is hella important) and better L3 cache tech, that is really important.

If Qualcomm made the step of doing 4 A78 cores with good L2 and L3 cache, other story would happened. Even SD 7 Gen 1 is badly made that can't even match Dimensity 1200 in CPU wise.

You need to admit, Mediatek pulled a very good chip in time.

[deleted post]It’s a “gaming phone”, not some ordinary phone with a plain back

Something is wrong and mediatek was caught cheating few times.

This is why I do not trust benchmark. Any of them can be cheated.
                      Saying Geekbench cannot is BS.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2022Nope The real ranking is actually this: 1. Snapdragon 8... moreActually.. I didn't included the 8100 since for me is the BEST chip in performance/price since the Snapdragon 865 and I need to say that I didn't believed that Mediatek manages to make a very good chip like that.
And I am grateful that someone managed to pull it in years. And that should be the standard. I hope that Qualcomm pulls it too. They need one of them.

"is there a difference in temps and battery life" I'm afraid I cannot answer that as I have no prior experience in doing it myself but I can imagine it might lower temps and increase battery life

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2022There is no way chip with quad A78 + quad A55 can score bas... moreProperly cooled, Black Shark 3 with SD 865, 1xA77 at 2.84Ghz, 3xA77 at 2.42Ghz, 4xA55 at 1.8gh reaches more than 3300pts in multicore...with 7nm process...the cortex A77 at 2.84ghz alone is able to reach more 900pts

As Dimensity 8100 use all 4 Cortex A78 at 2.85Ghz and cortex A55 at 2.0ghz, 7 cores on 8 are clocked higher and the use of 5nm process allows more agressive CPU scheduling...4000 points aren't impossible. a single Cortex A78 reaches 965pts not that different compare to 865's!

With same 5nm process than 8100, Apple A15 is over 4700pts in multicore!

I did some tests with Redmi Note 8 Pro with Helio G90T, kicked out by ULBenchmark.
It's easy to do, you only have to clone the application (with a clone app you have to get on Playstore...built-in cloner don't simulate things the same), results were something like that :
                            - PCMark about -35% if I remember
                            - Geekbench less than -5%
                            - GFXBench less than 1%
                            - 3DMark less than 1%
                            - AnTuTu...didn't run as it is Split in 2 applications : AnTuTu and AnTuTu 3D
I install a CPU monitoring app, soc never go over it's limitations of 2.05ghz

What kind of test did you make? Not any! All you have is préjudices...

Other reviewers report much longer battery while gaming.
5 hours on the 6D ultimate vs 3 hours on the 6 pro.
Asus also advertises 20% improved efficiency.

It's a gaming phone. Battery life needs to be tested outside basic tasks.

Now that I remembered, I have only used ROG Phone 2 on Android 9 and it does let me set up variable clock speeds that they've given through the Armoury Crate. I wasn't sure if it was working because the phone still gets really hot and consumes a lot but I still chose the lowest anyway. CPU is one thing, there's also the GPU. Do they allow that for the new ROG Phones? Also, is there a difference in temps and battery life?

I don't understand why Asus didn't add the Portal on the 6 Pro SD variant. just imagine the benefits if they did. they should have have made the SD variants w/the cooler bundled and made it the most expensive model and have the Dimensity variants be the cheaper models like $699 starting price much like what they did before
with that being said, I'll be taking the SD variant for more GCam support and emulator support

On the ROG Phone, starting from the 3, you can actually tweak CPU controls much like tweaking the frequenzy of CPUs on gaming desktops or laptops. it's actually very fascinating come to think of it. only the ROG Phone allows you do it but you obviously need to know what you're doing
