The S23 is NOT a compact phone. Since when has a 6.1 screen been compact? Since when has anything over 69mm wide let alone 70mm been compact enough to use one handed unless you're a gorilla? And WTF is it with pricing of these phones? Who do Samsung think they are? Apple Plus Plus?

It's a fantastic phone, but I loved last year design so much more. I think it was an absolute banger and it looked way better than the Ultra variant even though it missed some features (no deal breakers though).

Needless to say you'll miss the rounded out sides. The hand feel between the two is a night and day difference despite being off by just a few millimeters. Not that the S22 was any better, frankly all phones with a flat back and (almost flat) sides suffer the same problem. Then again, a case should solve this dilemma.

got it yesterday. it is WONDERFUL.
at last a great compact phone I can use with one hand flawlessly.
it is too soon to say something definite about the battery, but it seems great for my usage (i also disabled 5G and 120hz refresh, i couldn't care less for both, and selected light mode).
i love light mode, you don't realise cpu are limited with normal usage (not like some power saving modes i tried in other phones that made the phone sluggish) and i hope it'll increase battery life further

What a generic, boring and little aspiring design.
I Really miss the futuristic S10 design.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2023S23 is downgrade from S22. S22 has OIS for telephoto lens.... moreFalse. The S23 has a 12MP ultra-wide camera at f/2.2, a 10MP 3x telephoto with OIS at f/2.4, a periscopic 10MP 10x telephoto at f/4.9, and a 12MP selfie camera with phase-detect autofocus at f/2.2. GSMarena lists all cameras with OIS. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

What is now missing is the analysis of what is exposed via the Camera2 API.
I would like to see the output of ProShot Evaluator like here for the S23 Ultra

From tha you can derive which camera modules are visible for 3rd party apps and what resolutions, export formats and bitrates are available.

Happy to see that you mention now that downscales from hig resolution images can result in much better results than the 12MP images right out of the device.
It would be even better to present a side by side example especially for the 200MP images from the S23 Ultra version.

UltraHD, 09 Feb 2023What's wrong with people???? Acting like this is the w... moreThey are obsessed with Chinese phone. I've had a P20 Pro and Mi 9T Pro for years till now. And trust me, they are over exaggerating it.
My phones are shit compared to my wife's S8+.
We hv decided to upgrade our phone once in 5 years, in case it feels super sluggish and outdated. But as of now, both of my phone feels super crappy, even with unlocked bootloader and custom ROM. swapped for new battery and replaced the screen (both got cracked) and it doesn't even compare to the S8+ sturdiness.
Granted, Samsung doesn't have the best track record, but obviously it is wayyyyy superior compared to the likes of Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, Vivo and the others.
The only phones worth comparing to would be Pixel lineups, Motorola (back during Z lineups, they have the premium quality feels in your hand), Asus, Huawei (the only chinese phone that feels premium now, apart from no google services) and Sony.
No, I'm not speaking most people's geek nerd smartass wannabe language. I'm pointing out what general users LIKE US, think of it. Just don't be biased and d*** ride so hard on chinese brand. We got no incentive tryna promote them here. We care about which company provides the best service and give us the best user experience from the get go.

uk7866, 08 Feb 20231080p display and 8GB ram, awful at this price!Where do you need more than 8GB ram for? Unless you're a heavy gamer, 8GB is sufficient. It's not a PC that really needs ram memory. A smartphone does not need a truckload of ram like a PC does. It needs some ram, but last years the trend is to compare it with PCs and the smartphone industry has really convinced average Joe to want more ram so they pay more for it.
