The scoring is inconsistent. How can the S23 Ultra score 4.7 and this score 4.8 ?. The S23 has superior software support, battery life, Dex ,S pen, ultra Sonic fingerprint reader .

such a pity ! until xiaomi provides assurance that they are serious about their after sale service, past experience has not given me the courage to buy another xiao mi phone. All these frills and improvements only makes me sigh at their lack of consideration of the end customer's total experience !!! don't touch a xiao mi phone or will regret it unless prepared to buy and throw away !!!

I just bought one. Really impressed by how many people are already creating custom lenses, attachments etc. for the 13 Ultra Photography Kit. That was the final defining factor in why I got this phone instead of a 2nd Vivo X90P+ to replace my returned faulty one.
I use my phone for photography first and that's what this phone is for. The uniformity of the cameras are amazing as some people have pointed out. 1 main sensor, but ALL other sensors are the same type too. The consistency across each sensor is extremely high and I believe that the software will get a lot better with time. This will be Xiaomi's highest priority for a long time and having the support and options of Xiaomi.EU helps a lot. Xiaomi also just extended their warranty on older phones in India to 2 years, that doesn't affect me but it's a customer orientated decision I am impressed by and more than Samsung is doing.
I don't care about minor ads (I will debloat my phone), I don't care about a lack of MicroSD or 3.5mm jack. I don't need front-facing stereo speakers either. I don't play "games" on my phone. I want a camera that doubles as an extremely good phone. I travel for work and visit between 5-8 countries each year. I want something I can take with me, to serve as a fantastic camera. I also use the Pro mode in smartphones often and I have been taking a strong interest in professional photography in the last 10 years. This phone ticks all my boxes, and it has 90W charging, 5G and the latest chipset, great screen and still comes with 2 year warranty.
I was amazed at how good my older Xiaomi 10T Pro was for photography and detail. It was a shame I had to give it back when I swapped jobs, as it was a work phone. But it was a pleasure to use and the battery was MUCH better than my Samsung flagship. I'm hoping Xiaomi impresses me again.

Xiaomis budget phones have lots of ads but it's not the case with their premium+ phones. Miu 14 is pretty good too don't know why ppl keep complaining. it's way better than it used to be.

I only agreed that it wasn't as good, but I did meant that it was used to directly rival with 1/1.5" sensors which you used for comparison. If you read my previous statement properly, I even mentioned it would only match in CERTAIN situation(ie mostly daylight).

Interestingly I don't remember Pixel being 1st place the moment it got released, it took a couple years to get to HDR+ and that was a giant leap.

Have been using this for the past 2 weeks, Image from the main is impressive, both day and low light. Both tele were also great with the combination of OIS and good low light capability making it very easy to achieve sharp details. Ultrawide was also good, details isn't as much due to nature of ultrawide containing much more things, but photos as a whole look decent. Overall the phone seems to priorities high shutter speed to minimize chances of blur photos in the low light which is definitely ideal for average consumers. A noisier and less detail photos is better than a blurry photo.

S Yu, 11 May 2023>The key here is that the 3 sub sensors are newer genera... moreYes, they are newer and better, but doesn't mean they will be better than a old sensor that is significantly bigger, after all 1/1.5" is more than 50% bigger than a 1/2.5" sensor in area. Newer sensor combined with larger aperture helps to close gap, but simply not enough compared to 1/1.5" which is also found in number of flagship main camera. I would say the newer sensor probably perform closer to a 1/2" to 1/2.2" older sensor rather than a 1/1.5". Most of the image quality improve we seen in the past several years comes mainly from software rather than hardware side.

They were 1st place for about 2-3 years, and that was that.

S Yu, 11 May 2023Ugh...sorry I stopped wasting my time on Samsung. From arou... moreSamsung never was the BEST at cameras I'd say, they've come quite far tbh. Their availability, updates and brand value can justify the higher price in some countries. Otherwise I don't think their phones are bad. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra looks absolutely banging tho, just wish the Leica Authentic were better. I'm thinking trying out a Chinese flagship due to the absolute bangers this year, I hope next year they'll continue this trend. Might cop one if the availability is good, X90 Pro+ and Find X6 Pro are China only and that is such a huge bummer :(

It seems like you have some knowledge about cameras... moreUgh...sorry I stopped wasting my time on Samsung. From around the S8 era they skewed from the righteous pass of high(er) fidelity and dived head first into...whatever muck they're in, which is what eventually lead to the amusing but unimpressive stunt that is nonacell, and whatever implementations derived from it. In the recent year or so I've really stopped keeping track. They don't deliver.
Occasionally, they come in ahead, but whatever victories they can hope to achieve are largely thanks to the stumbles of the competitors.
As for your question on the price, just don't assume that a price difference is justifiably attributed to any technological trait, because it generally isn't.

Anonymous, 04 May 2023everybody knows it is impossible for the 3 sub cameras to b... more>The key here is that the 3 sub sensors are newer generation and is performing better than the previous generation
Yes I'm comparing it to those around type 1/1.5 but the impression they give me is that they're weaker in detail resolution and even weaker in low light, suggesting inferior SNR. This is by no means objective though, just an impression of this one set of samples of this one implementation. The sensor might have more potential but these days that's nearly impossible to tell with software such a big part of the equation.
