Regarding battery time and some performance issues - this is exactly what happens when manufacturer decides to use a garbage chipset, hoping to save a few dimes... In fact they are going to lose much more on dropped sales, not to mention that last year's Edge 30 generation was just much better (especially in terms of battery life). Shame on Motorola for such a downgrade.

Not sure on the Batt rating here seems a bit strange to me unless Moto have poorly optimised the thing, I will look at other tech review sites but that is never right with other phones using that chipset getting 130hrs etc.

GSMA is one of a handful of sites I think a great deal of, but... how come the fact the 40 Neo is a clear stepdown compared the to 40 isn't mentioned a single time in the entire review? Not even in the conclusion, where comparisons to predecessors are regularly drawn? Chipset, battery, camera, fame material don't stand a chance against the regular 40. Please GSMA, try to avoid the impression of being biased!

I don't get it. 5000 mAh battery in a "compact"(gsmarena) phone and such weak results! It's much worse than even something like Galaxy S22 which had a tiny 3700 mah and was trashed for its battery endurance. What am I missing here ?

Vibe, 21 Sep 2023Yh, i dont believe the battery life is that bad, check othe... moreReviews on her tech sites also mentioned bad battery life.

Motorola Germany was selling the 40 neo along with Bose quite comfort 2 in ears for 350€ (last week).

I'd still call this phone pretty good overall in most departments (there's a reason why it still got a 4.3 star rating), but the battery life does seem a bit disappointing. I'll probably check other reviews from other sites to see if it's accurate, though.

Photos look pretty alright from a distance too, though close up I do agree they kind of do look like oil painting... then again that's what you get with modern processing like this. The cameras will probably perform better in other camera apps.

I do still plan to maybe get this as my next midranger (the price is still good for what you get), but we'll see. There are more phones out there, after all.

I fail to see the point of this phone, why should you choose it instead of the Edge 40?

the dimensity 7030 5g chipset is not new because it's just a rebranded "dimensity 1050 5g" lol

Why so poor battery life ? This chipset shouldnt give so low endurance

This phone looks disappointing when it comes down to the battery (and software support but hey that's Motorola) part, very disappointing in fact. When it comes to that I have growing doubts on the accuracy of the battery tests done by @GSMArena. It's not the first time that I have used a device that was trashed for poor battery life in a review while in fact it was good and the other way around. The calculation doesn't seem to work fine every time.

Reviewers please start mentioning if the charging adapter is pd or usb and the cable is usb c ro usb c? Please be detailed. When some manufacturer is not provding this with phone some still provide to us customers. We value that and take it ibto considering whwn buying a phone

Nice looking phone with good specs and competitive price. Shame they didn't keep the size of edge 30 neo. And I cannot say the sensor is bad, but I would prefer IMX766

A cutdown version of Lenovo Legion Y70 sold at a higher pricepoint.

Another trash phone, terrible battery life, missing SD card, audio jack.

After many people liked this phone a lot since it was released (including me), now reviews say this phone is average but not bad.

GSMarena should do more research especially the camera system. The Edge 40 has an ambient light sensor at the back (right beside the LED flash) which helps in determining the exposure and contrast while the Edge 40 Pro and 40 Neo do not have.
