The Snap 8gen1 throttled down hard and went hot regardless of it.

makes the consistency with 50 other 8+gen1 and 8gen1 phones irrelevant?

Nah, the regular 8gen1 got just poorly optimised by every single manufacturer in existence. It's not the 8gen1 at all.

And somehow all the manufacturers but rog managed to Optimise the 8+gen1.

Battery life!!! High refresh rate... For nerds. I really did my best... Can't see any difference 60 .... 90 or 120... Really really tried.

X1 and X2 are the problem.
Too power hungry and generate huge heat.

I am not talking about those thin phones clamshell. ROG 6 Pro , a "gaming " phone with 8+g1 made at TSMC did overheat during tests here until they used the external fan attached to it. Despite all internal fancy cooling system.

Example. D8000 can run Genshi at 60fps, at cost of resolution. What is point of having phone with 1080/1440p screen if game is run below HD?

No SoC with A73/A75/A76/A77/A78/ + A53/A55 is gonna show heat issues. The problem is X cores. X1 and X2 are 💩. If 888 was A7xx + A5xx, it would not be that bad.

And also how all the 870 is above all the 888 and 8gen1.

The low ranking 8+gen1 are flip phones and flip phones have a plastic screen so they need to make sure not to overheat it.

The one OnePlus there with the 8+gen1 may have a low framge rate as the 8gen1, but at way lower power consumption regardless.

                Yes

Also if you make a phone with a cooler, you obviously give the chip more tolerance in Wattage it's allowed to use.

Also the onboard storage has below 250MB per sec write speed, but good read speeds.

Still, the write speed isn't even half of USF 2.1.

Shellyman Studios, 25 Oct 2023Geez! The Pixel 7 endurance rating is 96h, and the Pixel 8 ... moreI guess google made tensor just because of competition from apple, it's a beta soc and inferior to even snapdragon 7 series, at least they should have sticked with snapdragon 7 series if they can't go with 8 series to make more profit

Magic eraser in google photos works faster on my s22 running 8 gen1 and that phone is really snappy even with all Samsung junkware, typing from my slugging pixel 8 pro

I'm curious why this phone got such a relatively low battery endurance rating, especially when it's not even close to its last year's predecessor. I can only assume that it has to do with either the new 120Hz screen or the Android 14 OS, which is still in early builds with little software optimization.

What impressed me the most, though, is the new SoC. It shows a much-needed improvement from the previous G2. Both CPU and GPU are on par with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and that's still a crazy fast SoC in 2023.

this thing cant even beat a $300 poco f5 performance

tensy-exyflop made by scamsung is the worst

I bought this pixel 8 but I'm returning it.
After 2 week I have experienced:
                                      - continuous disconnecting in dual SIM
                                      - low battery life compared to pixel 7 and a Mi 9 SE (4 year old)
                                      - when using speakerphone during call people on the other side have trouble hearing me. This with "clear call" disabled, with it it's even worst
                                      - using "clear call" result in terrible WA call audio on both sides

                                      Edit:
                                      - also low precision for fingerprint sensor compared to MI 9 SE
