People using GrapheneOS on Pixel 8, what is your battery life like? Any heating?

It is crazy that the Pixel 8/8 Pro are the first Google smartphones that have a portrait/depth mode with more than 5 effective megapixels, even though one could use Google Photos for a portrait mode effect (which can be even better).
Nexus 5x - Pixel 7 only had approximately 5 effective megapixels in portrait mode.

If this were the 8a, it wouldn't be as hard to recommend

Pixel phones will always have poor overall battery life (especially standby) due to Google's constant spying and pilfering in the background. This phone has pretty much made it apparent that I will NEVER own a pixel.

Geez! The Pixel 7 endurance rating is 96h, and the Pixel 8 is 83h. Wow! I guess the Tensor G3 is less efficient than G2!

Given the mediocre battery life, UFS 3.1 storage, artificial limitations on features and region locking of several good features along with no guarantee on wheather will google actually support this thing for 7 years or if it will even last that long. I think this one is a no go for most. And this is ignoring the sub-par Tensor G3. I dont think that chipset can hold up after 3-4 years at all. It may be fine now, but definitely wont last for 7 years.

How can GSMArena give 4 plus rating for a phone with shitty battery life, no ultra fast charging and slow chipset

I really want to switch to Pixel 8, but I already have Pixel 3 (second-hand), Pixel 4a, Pixel 6 Pro, and OnePlus 8 Pro. My region cannot trade-ins.😭

You didn't compare iso on night mode.
Pixel 6 Pro is smaller than 7 Pro and 8 Pro.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2023Harder to design internals. But OEMs save money by using s... moreThis. Slightly smaller parts add up to big savings when manufacturing millions of units. Think of all the raw material saved. As a consumer you are literally paying more for less.

I must say, it's borderline impossible for me to recommend this phone to anyone. Where I live, you can get the S23 Ultra with the same storage capacity by paying 80 USD (equivalent) more and it beats this smaller Pixel in almost every category. Personally, the biggest letdowns of Pixel 8 are the battery life and speed, where Tensor G3 is clearly doing an atrocious job at keeping up with the fellow 8G2-equipped flagships - they are looking pretty terrible in terms of both efficiency and raw performance, and it's very evident that it's not worthy of carrying the name of 2023 "high-end" phone when it performs like an upper mid-range at best. The heavy-handed throttling makes it even worse.
As for the camera, while I'm somewhat glad to see Google definitely dialled down the noise reduction for daylight shots compared to last year, at night it's the same old Pixel story - Visible sharpening, smearing and weird artifacts all over the frame (For example, just look at the night sky in the 4th low light shots, it's full of splotchy wrinkle patterns). Pixel sadly keeps falling behind the likes of Xiaomi 13 Ultra or OnePlus Open in terms of natural detail rendition as Google just can't seem to get the post-processing right.
If one is a die-hard Pixel fan, they should get the Pixel 7 instead, not this overpriced mess of a phone. It's clearly not worth the price tag it carries currently.

Disappointing performance again site marginal improvements, in day to day use would very much doubt you'd see a difference over the g2..having said that like the g2 benchmarks don't do it justice same with battery endurance results.. literally everyone has said this thing / and the pro has notable improvements in battery.. especially the vanilla 8. Odd that testing saying the opposite

4,575 mAh and 83 hours in test, very bad, Samsung fab is the worst
