Why is no one mentioning the $600.00 depreciating after owning this 8 pro phone for 20 some days? Try and trade this phone in and it's only worth $450.00? I paid 1050.00 for this phone and out $600.00 in 20 some days.

        2. Is this the new GN2 Sensor?
        3. The new Samsung E7 Display Panel... is it true 10bit 1B colors? Or Still 8bit 256M colors?

Since the Pixel 6 Pro, I have the impression that Google doesn't really combine frames anymore in certain conditions.. I remember that I took HDR+ photos with the main camera of the 6 Pro and the exif showed an exposure time of 1/3s. So there wasn't enough time to combine multiple frames and indeed, a single frame dng file from a 3rd party app had the same noise. I experienced the same thing with the HDR+ raw file of the 6 Pro's periscope in low light conditions, distant objects had about the same noise as a Canon M50 + 45mm f/8 and that's what you would theoretically expect when no frames are combined...

I have a Pixel 7 Pro and surprisingly, I tested that in the 48mm HDR+ raw files, objects have slightly more noise than 48mm HDR+ raw files from the Pixel 3a! Even though the exif exposure time was identical and even though the 7 Pro captures 2.2 times as much light per exposure time from an object as the Pixel 3a and even though I downsampled the raw file of the 7 Pro in order to get the same effective noise-resolution. So I wonder whether at 48mm the Pixel 7 Pro actually combines frames at all and whether the Pixel 8 Pro has the same behaviour. I will have to compare my 7 Pro with the 8 Pro.

Power hungery when compared to 8gen2 and even bigger gap with 8 gen 3

Literally more power use for lesser performances which is very inefficient even for daily tasks

I hope that they can improve the periscope camera for the Pixel 9 Pro. The periscope camera of the 8 Pro has an effective lens diameter of 6.4mm whereas the 7 Pro has 5.4mm. Therefore, the 8 Pro periscope camera suffers less from diffraction, but the focal length is lower (18mm vs 19mm), so distant objects consist of fewer megapixels. Furthermore, the dng files look hazy, possibly due to the low f-number (and there is the issue with the strange noise). When I compared periscope camera raw files from the 8 Pro and 7 Pro in a store, the 8 Pro periscope camera raw files had about the same level of detail at 15x + Night Sight.

They need to go back to 19mm and/or use a Quad Bayer sensor with smaller pixels than 0.7 micrometer and need to make sure that the quality of the lens is high. It would be really nice to see a periscope camera that is noticeably better than my 7 Pro at 15x + Night Sight.

A strange distribution of noise in comparison to my Pixel 7 Pro (for example the periscope camera at 15x + Night Sight). This seems to be a bug and if they should fix this in the future, a fix won't repair the previous dng files.

I was able to test the Pixel 8 Pro camera in a store:
-Just like the Pixel 7 Pro, the 8 Pro often uses data from the periscope camera in order to improve the jpg image quality at 3x. But if you choose 50 megapixels or if you choose manual camera selection, then it doesn't seem to use data from the periscope camera at 3x.
-When you choose the manual camera selection in 12(!) megapixel mode, then in low light conditions it will still refuse to choose the "2x" camera (1.2 micrometer pixels) at 2x and probably it would also refuse to use the "10x" camera (0.7 micrometer pixels) in low light conditions. But it seems to use 1.2 micrometers and 0.7 micrometers in low light conditions, if you choose 50 megapixels.

I really hoped Pixel 8 Pro would be bit better than it actually is and compared to 7 Pro i just don't know if i would spend the cash on the 8 Pro, when i can get better (subjective in many ways) for less money.

The clickbait bias here is pretty bad. Lets point out some facts.
GSM arena says the iphone 15 pro battery life is good when it gets almost 12% worse battery endurance than both pixels from this year and last year.
GSM arena says that charging is behind the curve yet its not that far off the "super fast charging" phones without damaging the battery. 1 hour to full vs 1 hour 30 to full is completely acceptable considering iphone's still take for ever.
The S23 Ultra does not cost the same as an 8 Pro. 1300$ vs 1000$ is not even close.
The "Competition" cannot compete in camera's, AI, speech recognition, and just about everything except "battery" and "charging speed". And that is supposed to be worth spending 300$ more? I can get more features on the 700$ Pixel 8.
The tensor G3 matches some of the slower clocked SD 8 Gen 2 Chips. The overclocked, heat producing "made for samsung" verisons require a phone that is almost an inch larger to keep it in check, is it worth it? And besides, why not apply that same bias to Samsung for not matching the iphone 13, 14, or 15 pro lol.

Either way, the cognitive dissonance is bad in this one. Please get a better editor.
