Anonymus, 05 Dec 2023I am honestly done with gsmarena. The users that frequent t... moreI'm using the S22 Ultra, with updates I started seeing more smoothness and maybe less stutters? I'm not sure about the stutters, they could be more or less, mind you im talking about stutters that would only annoy you if you look for it or are an enthusiast. But yeah, there seem to be more stutters with updates but less worse than before in some instances and worse than before in others, just a mixed bag in terms of stutters. Not that it's a mess but it's not definitively an amazing experience, just a good one. I don't think anyone should settle for "good" when spending more than 1k USD, so I'm admittedly quite disappointed. The animations are far smoother though and the phone does feel more responsive with each update, just that SOME stutters remain or some new ones arise.
Anyways, my biggest pain point is the battery, either it degraded kinda fast or it's gotten nuked with updates. I have to charge my phone 2-3 times per day, not to 100% but to 80-85%. I don't let it dip below 10-20% usually but when I first got it, I had to charge it once per day and at best 20-40% more. It's gotten way too bad way too fast imo for something with mid speed charging. With each update it "feels" like the battery gets worse. So I just don't know what to do anymore, battery and display are my main priorities and I got a "good" display, only 8 bit but at least it's srgb accurate and gets bright, and a mid battery that's getting to below average level. I had a day out with my cousin and he has an iPhone 12, both our phones died at similar times. Absolutely embarrassing I'd say. My phone used to last as much as an iPhone 13, if not more.

I've had my A54 for about 3 months now, before that I had the note 9 and thought it was time for something new as it wasn't getting updates anymore and had a couple of cracks because I refused to use a case with it. All I can say is that I definitely hasn't lagged nearly as much as this review suggests, yes apps take a little bit longer to load when compared to the S23 series (I used the base version of the S23 for around 2 weeks before buying the A54) but it hasn't been lagging and handled moderate gaming very well. The Google discover feed was laggy for the first few seconds when opened but that's about it.

I bought one last week. I might have a defective unit (as could the reviewer...) - but the scrolling is jittery and laggy everywhere in the UI and using any app. My A33 does not have this problem. I'm sending it back
Also the viewing angles aren't great - blue cast seen even slightly off-angle.

I live in Indonesia, I see vivo is getting interisting every year, and during blind test, most my followers prefer VIVO shoots. Screen bezel VIVO is oustanding, more faster charging and better design imo. I believe Brazil and Indonesia have similar phone marketing, and VIVO have official store in Brazil right ?

I am honestly done with gsmarena. The users that frequent the site and now the articles themselves.
Isn't time we start to verify how much these performance issues are due to the praised updates?
Yes, I bought the A54 specifically because the on paper better S21 FE, had heating, micro stutters and not a 100% smooth feeling.
It can't be Exynos, for I have one announced in 2016 and it still runs flawless kept on the second update released for the device (a non flagship).
Only thing left are the updates.
I suspect the same will happen to the S23 FE after a few months.
I wonder if the device was even hard reset after the updates. Certainly we would have heard from now if something was wrong with the device from the start. The A14 wouldn't even have sold more than the s23 ultra.
The users are another gem. Go to one device page and the comments praise it and bash the competitors. Go to the competitor's page and the opposite happens! The praise the competitor and bash the other device.
I genuinely wonder how these tests are done, because I hear a lot of complains from flagships and as I've mentioned above, I have a non flagship still performing the same. Sooth without lag from mor than half a decade.

I've had the A54 for a few months, I paid BRL1800/USD365 for the 8gb/256gb version. And for me, especially where I live (Brazil), there is no better option in this price range. Its competitor here is the POCO X5 Pro and recently the Realme 11 Pro +.
The cell phone has a good battery life, very competent cameras and contrary to what was said here, it is very fluid. There are several cases, including many Brazilian YouTubers who swapped the S21 FE for the A54 due to its fluidity. The A34 is not better than the A54, it heats up less, but is less strong, weaker cameras and inferior design and cameras.
Regarding heating, last month we had a huge heat wave of 37ºC and the smartphone lived at that temperature, however after the temperature in the country returned to normal (between 22º and 29ºC), the A54 rarely exceeded 34ºC, except in games, which really heats up.
The problem is that people are Exynos haters and as they are spoiled children, they don't accept changes and don't even want to spend money on a device with Snapdragon. In general, the device has pros and cons, and it is the 5th best-selling device (2nd among Android devices) of 2023. If it weren't a good device, it wouldn't have so many sales.

I've been using the Galaxy S10 for the last three years. It's finally dying, and since no one will let us change the battery anymore (at least not without messing up the IP68 rating), it's time to get a new phone. I just bought the A54 on Black Friday after months of research on GSMArena. The one thing that you never talk about is the fact that this device has a SD Card slot. That's one of the main reasons why I bought this phone: it still has an SD Card slot*. I don't understand why phone companies feel the need to follow Apple and remove features**, but they do, and as it's one of my needed features I'm now limited as to what phone I can get.
I've had the S3, S5, S7, and the S10. To me, the S23, while it may have the flashier screen, is the lesser phone because Sammy removed way too many feature that I use on a regular basis: the Pulse Oximeter, the SD Card, the MST technology (I love sticking it to the "oh we don't take Apple Pay here" folks), and the 3.5mm jack.
Well, while I finally have a smartwatch that does the health stuff (although, the one on my S10 is more reliable than what's on my Galaxy Watch5), and I guess I can finally join the year 2015 and use a Bluetooth headset, I'm not giving up my expandable storage. That's a deal breaker right there. And don't give me the cloud storage or streaming meadia nonsense. Even in the US there are plenty of places with lousy cell reception, and the free cloud storage for photos and video is basically gone (and I have too many subscription services as is) and I like having instant access to my photos (that I do backup in other ways) and videos. (The removal of the MST in Samsung Pay is gonna hurt, but I'll get over it, I suppose. Not my fault the US is slower to adopt NFC as compared to Europe and Asia.)
As for most of the complaints that GSMArena was complaining about, between sticking my phone in an OtterBox Defender case and upgrading from an S10, pretty much all of those complaints are pointless (for me). If I were going from an S22 to the A54, then they'd have a leg to stand on (except for the build of the phone, seriously, if you don't have your phone in a case, you certainly love to play Russian Roulette with your phone). I'm just waiting on my new OtterBox to get in and then I'll start using the A54, and from what I've played with, it looks like I'll be a happy camper.
*Sorry, SD card slot and an IP67/IP68 rating. No way am I getting a Motorola when you sneeze on 'em and they short out (exaggeration, I know, but you get the point).
**Seriously, Samsung, what makes your S23 stand out from the latest iPhone? It was laughable when you had a removable battery with the S5, had TV ads that showed how superior that was to the iPhone folks having to hang around an outlet, and then remove that feature with the S6. You've removed too much, your flagships are no longer unique, no longer standout.

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2023It is a phone bought by cultists trying to find the next A5... moreWith Qualcomm using TSMC for the 8gen4 and no other OEMs wanting to touch Exynos, Samsung's only choice to keep the Samsung Foundry going is to put Exynos into more phones. A5x and A3x series pretty much confirmed wont use Snapdragon or even Mediatek chipsets anymore. A2x series also going the Exynos route.
