They took it too far, but on the another direction this time. Sharpness is reduced to the point where even edges are undefined and noise reduction is non-existent to the point that grains are visible on ISO25 images. They just can't seem to find the balance.

          [deleted post]So?

They surely seem to have toned down sharpening from the S23 series, but now the photos coming out of S24's main camera are just way too soft, it's almost like the lens itself isn't resolving a lot of details to begin with. They are very noisy regardless of lighting conditions, too - Realme GT5 Pro with an equally sized sensor somehow manages to clean up noises while maintaining a comparable amount of details (a tad oversharpened, though), so it's clear that Samsung is doing something wrong here.

I have sent back my Exynos S24(6.2”).Ohh boy,the battery life was insanely horrendous. No more than 3.5-4hrs with bare usage,10-15% down just sitting on table and doing nothing in 2hrs.100% to 80% in 29 minutes just surfing on the net.Screen at 20%,no Bluetooth,60HZ,no haptics,WiFi only. Many had the same issues(read on Reddit). So I don’t think these are faulty units but this is how bad the Exynos version is.Just to compare my 2.5 years old iPhone 13 mini(wanted to trade in) with 80% battery capacity lasted 1.5 longer with heavy use.

And probably a price hike, which would be terrible because it is same price as S series here.

If Asus upped their support game I would gladly get one, even if it gets a price hike.

As long they fix the silver ring around the selfie cam and OS support.

Smallworld, 01 Feb 2024Are they reviewing the 128Gb version or the 256 one? Yeah, seems they intentionally missed out that. Probably the 128 one (because Exynos).

                    Better wait for Zenfone 11.

Not saying the zenfone is a viable alternative is a disservice. I'd recommend that phone over most other ones listed here

Don, 01 Feb 2024I kind of doubt the s24 and s24 plus have a virtual proximi... moreThe battery life weirdness is actually not weird at all, it comes from the fact that the comparison is between Exynos 2400 (S24 international) and Snapdragon 8G2 (S23 all versions). The S24 Exynos barely beats the S23 Snapdragon in battery life, but it is also much faster so much more efficient. Also, S24 is close to the S24+ in battery life because S24+ has a QHD resolution (as opposed to FHD in S24) and 20% more screen area to illuminate.

Absolutely awful photo quality I don't know what's wrong with GSM Arena eyes but saturation over sharpening and noise are awful

I kind of doubt the s24 and s24 plus have a virtual proximity sensor.

Saw them in real and they have same sensor the s23 and s23 plus had, and those had regular ones.

Also the Samsung website mentioned A54 having a virtual one in the specs, yet with the S24 and S24 plus they mention a physical proximity sensor.

                                Really weird

Above that, I am surprised this site tested the battery of both s24 and s24 plus, s24 has a mostly on par battery life the s23 had, but s24 plus barely defeats the base s24 and is much worse than s23 plus.

Weird, it feels like guys here didn't do proper research.

MarOMG, 01 Feb 20247 years of OS updates sounds great. But would you want it? ... more7years of OS updates helps a lot the used market.

And there are people these days that actually use older flagships the same way many others do that change devices frequently.

Calls, social media, content consumption, web browsing, checking emails/texting,maybe some casual gaming.

A Galaxy Note9(especially Snapdragon 845 version, not Exynos),holds well even today for all the above despite being a 2018 device.

But would you want it? ... moreI have an S8 as a backup phone (of my backup phone, which is a Samsung Note 10, lol) and it still works like a charm. The ONLY problem with it is that it has stopped receiving software updates a long time ago so it's missing out on all the new features, but for those who don't need/care about those feature, it's a very serviceable phone even today. So I can certainly see the attraction of 7 years of support.

They go too far with that virtual proximity sensor. It is just downright unacceptable for $900+ phones

The virtual proximity sensor is a cheap touch, though at least it won't readily malfunction like the real proximity sensor on my Note 10 does (but the one one my even older Samsung S8 still works without issues; go figure!)
