Samsung i900 Omnia review: The whole nine yards

25 July 2008
Now that the dust of the Diamond vs. Omnia PocketPC battle settles down, our up close and personal look at the rivals continues with Samsung i900 Omnia. Slick looks, great feature-pack and ingenious software solutions are things that hold true...

Well i bought this phone just so i have a music player, well guess what, im satisfied. I know its not as good as the iphone but but it did a good job. The wifi, bluetoot gps, fm, ability to call and txt,,, blah blah blah is just the bonus i get from getting this phone. I'm a happy owner of omnia. Nuff said.

Perhaps I overlooked the paragraph or maybe it wasn't covered... but how it the quality of the flash. How does a pic in a dark room turn out? I see it has LED flash as opposed to the growing-popular xenon flash.

Had mine about 4-5 months now, battery lasts a good 2 days with light usage. Using it a decent amount lasts a easy 24 hours.

To the people complaining the battery dies quickly and it's not the same as the reviews.

Low battery life depends on signal, usage, what programs you've still got running (In task manager) and in optimal conditions (Room temperature ect). If all else fails, do you want a phone that lasts for days upon days or a phone that does everything that the omnia does?

battery life is very disgusting. you cannot use special features in order to prolong battery life to 1 day. i dont believe the reviews that battery life lasts for 3-4 days. try for yourself!

I've had my Omnia for a month and love it.

I love; using handwriting to enter text, free Wifi at McDonalds, watching Family Guy on the train, using GPS navigation. I love that it has a few external buttons (when I press 'end call' to lock it for example), or that button that when held brings up Task Manager.

I dont like the small volumn control slider - but once you select it you can use the external buttons for fine control.

I like recording voice notes for myself, controlling what's on my desk top including background and windows theme.

Would definately buy this phone again if it was lost/stolen etc.

Loved the phone but had to return it was not the phone for me. Unless you have small fingers there isn't a virtual keyboard out there for anyone no matter how "smart" the phone is, it was hard for me to touch several buttons, especially on the sides. The volume was low even on the highest level, but the speakerphone was very good volume.
The keychain stylus is a big pain, it should of had a slot in the phone for it. I would probably lose 10 of these a year, and is very inconvenient if keep your phone in your pocket. And my biggest complaint is that if you are outside on a sunny day (even in the shade) it is next to impossible to see anything on the screen (really, really bad). When I returned it, the person said that was the most common reason for people returning the phone.
