volume rocker above the power button Is something I can't get used to. Just can't reach it (left hand use) and constantly hitting volume button when trying to shut down screen. speaker lacks bass, pretty thin sound for calls and just also media.

    Great!

Thats why you c... moreP7P and S23U were released less than 6 months apart and the main point is that there are is a small difference of performance between G2 G3 and G4, regardless of the year of their release, That's why G4 is totally unappropriate for a flagship phone at this price right now.
Up to the P7 their prices were also significantly lower than today

alski10, 24 Sep 2024I had a Pixel 7 Pro as daily driver for about 5 months and ... moreS23 is 2023 lineup, pixel 7 is 2022 lineup. Thats why you could see the difference.

You should compare p7 pro to s22Ultra, then it would be adequate. But if you want to compare to s23u then p8 pro.

          Also sidenote:
          S22U- Exynos 2200
          S23U- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
          S24U- Exynos 2400

Yes snapdragon 8 is really really good are refined SOC, thats why you can 'feel' it immediately, also it has the best battery management, even compared 'in house' with s22u & s23u....

E2200 Was a battery drainer and chip that warmed up the phone pretty good, thats why samsung made a decision to skip it one year, went for the safe option- snapdragon but in this years lineup with E2400 they fixed all the previous problems and its a great chip.

Problem with not in house chips are the support, you cannot offer support longer than 2..3 years thats why everyone wants to make their own now.

Nameless, 22 Sep 2024Picture samples are trash. Especially pictures number 38-40... moreI agree. These samples are completely out of focus. It's a shame GSM arena posted these images. I used to trust their reviews, but concerning the Pixel 9 pro, I don't understand why they are so critical. Even if it's true that the 9P doesn't bring much to the table, compared with the 8P, image quality remains roughly the same. And the 8P review was very positive.

The Samsung definitely feels faster as soon you start doing things that require a little bit of processing such as photo editing, video compression, opening heavy apps, playing games...

Samsung and TSMC manufacture chips for their clients, and Qualcomm is one of their clients. Qualcomm did the design.

Google is also a client of Samsung this year with their Tensor G4.

Docktor, 24 Sep 2024Thats not quite right. Google Tensors are customized chips ... moreIt is in fact NOT a flagship phone. It would be fine for 700€... but 1300€ is just too much.

Compare it to the real flagships like Samsungs S23 and S24 series or Apples 15 or 16 series and you will see how NOT flagship Pixel 9 really is.

I respect your opinion, but I think this is a mid range phone.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2024Calling Tensor as Google developed chipset is a big reach. ... moreThats not quite right. Google Tensors are customized chips that have much powerfull AI unit that most other chips and also much powerfull Titan chip for security. It is not just a minor change of Exynos. And when you read reviews of a Pixel 9, everybody states it has very fluent working with the phone, nothing is stopping. The chip is powerfull enough to do every task on the phone. Maybe it is not suitable for most powerfull games, but overall it is a flagship phone.

nion, 24 Sep 2024Yeah I don't get it either. They could've at l... moreSamsung WON'T let 3rd party to use the E2400 as it would jeopardize its own flagship model lineup, performance wise ;) Samsung as the SOC manufacturer/supplyer, gives the usage rights to google so Samsung are in control here in this decision and not google. Google only can build whatever they want on the given SOC platform(that is most likely, few years old and just cant fight in raw performance)...

With 'G5' it should change as it will be their own 100% made SOC so wont be dependant to samsung tech graces and decisions, but dont expect that they will blow away the world with their first fully made chip! Sure it will be a good step, but it takes time to fully polish it!

Tho as i understand 'Samsung' will still make it in their plant, so some partnership negotiations will still be there in place, because of course google dosent have 'soc' production plant.

After G5 release i'd expect another 2-3years for full chip optimization and it's potential.
So around pixel 13 we should see pixels stable up there in the top5 or even fight for top1 spot! ;)

nion, 24 Sep 2024Yeah I don't get it either. They could've at l... morehigher profit margins, they sell you 20 dollar stuff for 200 dollars.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2024Calling Tensor as Google developed chipset is a big reach. ... moreGOOGLE ISN'T soc manufacturing company so they buyed off tech/licences from others that has that soc base platform ready...
And there are only 2 main good manufacturers - Samsung or Qualcomm who are also the competitors. (apple wont sell its tech to 3rd party)

So it is logical that landing in any of these manufacturers that are also competitors they WON'T give their best and polished soc platform to 3rd party, rather some old one that probably was scrapped and unreleased so logically it will not be as polished and in tests behind, when compared. ;)
As i sayed G1-G4 where the 1st generation product of 'in house SOC' that google can fully control, learn and develop, but it is based on competitors rather old tech.
G5-onwards will be the 2nd generation that google have custom made themselves from ground up from the first knowelage that they gained in these years...
Basically they finally can and most probably will get those raw power performance numbers up to whom it is that important buying a new phone.

G1-G4 is not a slow chip, games dont lag, you can multitask without any hiccups, there where no system error/crashes/restarts... So i dont get this syntetic test score cry, because it dosnt reflect real life usage.

P.S. was daily driving pixel 7 for ~2 years and i can say it was the least error- hassle free android phone i had in my life and in my life had samsung, huawei, honor, htc... not budget models! Mid tier and up!
Now using Pixel 9 pro and im extremely happy.(nothing wrong with p7 an i probably would still use it for another 2 years, but i needed better cameras in my life)

:) Now most likely i will upgrade in next 4 years,so at around Pixel 14... Then googles own chip will be completely polished for that hassle free experience.

They could've at least used the new Exynos 2400. Still not as good as SD 8 Gen 3 but a lot better than what they've got now.

Note7 owner, 23 Sep 2024What's wrong with using the most powerful snapdragon c... moreOne word: greed. I'm starting to dislike Google more and more. Sure, they want to make money, like everyone else. But this... it's just downright stupid. I'm starting to consider Apple as a better value alternative... And, let's be honest: iPhone 16 >>>> Pixel 9, at the same price. People still hope for TSMC miracle. Perhaps it will be so, but expect another round of price increases. Nah, Google really are greedy. See YouTube Premium fiasco: increasing prices up to 50%... Come on, man. It's not like I shit money... Google, go f*ck yourself.

more than $1k for a midranger?? What a joke! 🤣

What's wrong with using the most powerful snapdragon chips at these new high pricing? Tensor don't belong in $1000 phones. Ask Samsung how that went.

700€ at most and that's pushing it.
