Anonymous, 25 Jan 2025I have purchased an Oneplus 13 16 GB ram version. It's... moreI don't agree. 1000 euros OnePlus chinophone is way too expensive, bad inferior sensors, unbranded screen protection, certainly less reliable. Or you pay Qualcomm, maybe.
All phone especially high end are way over expensive nowadays.
If I had the money I'd go s25 ultra. If not then I'd do as much with an 200 - 400 priced phone. Certainly won't pay 1000 for unreliable chinophone.

I have purchased an Oneplus 13 16 GB ram version. It's a much better value for money choice for flagship phone. Samsung phones are overpriced.

Seems the Battery will not last for this Model as well. Would not buy this Model unless Samsung gets a better competitor to change their mentality.

Canard, 23 Jan 2025Strange... am I the only one in the world who's excite... moreYes I have s24u, and I change phone yearly if the new phone has anything good to offer. I also had s22u and 23u for that matter.
This, however is to me the most boring update in years, not just for samsung, but for any flagship I can recall, ultrawide is the only camera I dont use at all because I ratter having focal lenghts closer to standar formats (25 to 35mm). Design wise feels like a downgrade since I loved the square formfactor in s24u. IA integration is not as exiting as last year. Battery, display and the cameras I care about are exactly the same and while snap elite seems like a great upgrade its not exclusive to samsung and its not their merit.
Now im waintg for the fold 7 instead as long as it follows the footsteps of las year special edition and not just a relauched fold 6 with snap elite.

What about green/pink line plaguing these flagship models?. Is there any time bound warranty regarding this headache?

Akarius, 24 Jan 2025"From my perspective, it doesn't make any sense t... moreRegarding sensors, no, actually not the megapixels. Samsung is still stuck in megapixel arms race mode with main cam when all others went back to 4-cell ~50 mp sensors in higher end phones. What should be done instead is using sensors with lower noise floor than what use currently and stop using utterly small sensors for 3x telephoto and use brighter lenses for telephotos, sensors should also have at least 12-bit raws, if not 14-bit raws through dcg, dag and/or dsg and we should move away from multi-exposure hdr.

Nick Tegrataker, 24 Jan 2025Mate, I use the S23 Ultra as my daily driver.
From my pe... more"From my perspective, it doesn't make any sense that you're throwing all kinds of insults you could think of to defend Samsung, a company that is literally spitting at you by giving you minimal year-to-year "upgrades" and telling you that LLM is somehow a game changer for your daily lives, while the competition is actually trying to make their offerings more attractive than those from previous years."
And what exactly do those competitors have better than Samsung? I mean, fast charging is one area where Sammy could improve, acknowledged. Maybe styling, but that is so subjective I have no idea how you want to quantify it. You already ignore the fact that Apple and Samsung already sell more than everyone else - did it ever occur to you that maybe is because they're doing something right on a global scale, instead of doing something wrong from your subjective point of view? Returning to charging for a second: where do you want this to go? If Sam goes to 120W today, they'll respond with 200W charging next generation. 5 years from now you'll have to cruise to find Tesla fast charger for your phone cause nothing at home will give 10kW power. And ten years from that we'll have to plug it directly to the Sun.
What cameras do you want every year? Sam and others are currently sitting at 200Mpx for their main sensor, do you honestly believe there is sense in going 500Mpx this generation, 1Gpx next generation? Where does it end? Your (and others') demand for "improvement" far outpaces technological advances and R&D process, don't you see that? There's also a concept of diminished returns - what does a 500Mpx sensor do so much better than 200Mpx that it's necessary to quadruple the resolution every year? At which point would you assume a camera setup is perfect? And if it was the same next generation, would you again be complaining it's boring and nothing new's being brought to the table?
What kind of advancement do you expect from screens next year? They're already so bright I can clearly read in full sun and the white parts of my screen go head to head with sun reflections from white marble outside my office - how much more brightness do you need? How much more resolution do you need every year? 4k this year? 8k next year? 128k in 4 generations time? Soon the amount of pixels per mm2 would outnumber packing of transistors in the CPU, but what for if you already can't see those pixels with a naked eye today? You currently have screen so bright you can read in full sun outside without issue, refreshing 120 times a second (or more) with resolution so high you ale no longer able to distinguish pixels with naked eye - so what else do you want from these screen to be better at and why?
What more do you want from a CPU? It's already so powerful that even watching it idle leaves me in awe. Here I have multiple CPU cores idling at several billion operations a second, while retaining temperature lower than my body - compare that to my gaming rig CPU that needs perpetual active cooling to keep comparably quick CPU at around 40 degrees C while doing nothing at all, idling on the desktop. These CPUs can handle everything you throw at them, from being relatively energy-sipping when not doing much to handling most advanced mobile games on the market, all while being passively (!) cooled. Their transistor are already at 3nm which by comparison makes bacteria look like a mountain of wobbly flesh at its average of 400nm, and those transistors are not a lump of silicone - they're precision made objects so unfathomably small you need space-era microscopes system to even see them. What else can you possibly need to stop complaining that getting the best available CPU on the market every year is "boring" and not sufficiently "progressful"?
Do you and others who want these heavy hardware improvements every year honestly think that this can be entertained in perpetuity and there's no limit to what technology can achieve? At which point do you think you'll start expecting for magic to happen because laws of physics won't allow any further progress?

aknsreddy, 24 Jan 2025These phones are battery disasters, marketing and fans will... moreSomebody already tested endurance in a stream, it best the S25 Ultra by a chunk, came close to the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery life which had 9% left. That is without the week or so of adaption Samsung phones need for optimal SOT times.
