Samsung clearly has a better camera. My 4 year old daughter can tell Samsung has better quality pictures. You are either blind or samsung hater if you think Satio has better pictures.

Outdoors: i think it's a tie. I find the colors of the satio more natural while the pixon a little too saturated, although the pixon shows less noise than than the satio. So for me, it's a tie.
Macro: I give this one to the satio. A little too much color saturation on the pixon kind of made the details look a tad smudgy. Although still very good quality.
Dark: No doubt that the pixon had the obvious lead on this one, and not by a small margin.
Overall: I give it to pixon. I would say it would've been a tie overall if the pixon was only slighty better than the satio in dark conditions, but it was a significant difference, considering that these camera phones would really be useful at night when people would go clubbing or partying and won't bother with their digital cameras.

well let me tell you guys somthing, I have got the nokia n86 and the performence at night with the powerfull flash is impressive and they are sharp (just like you took them with a xenon flash) and just because the phone has a xenon flash dosnt mean it will perform like it says, the flash on the nokia n86 perfoms the same as any xenon flash on a digi cam, I went out side last night and took a picture of a tree and was so impressed with it performence and how bright it lit up the bushes and how sharp it is.
so there you have it from somone who owns the nokia n86, and am really happy with it as well I give it 10/10 on camera performence:)

i would say pixon is a little bit more natural color than the satio in both lightings satio has done a very good job but it is a little too bright or bleached i would say. we will wait and see the review of the experts...

im seeing many wrong comments here.. they say satio is DEFINITELY outperforming the pixon12 and they have blind eyes. it's very clear the pixon has a very better camera than the satio (only in the camera here) because as a phone, the satio is better than pixon and more expensive too. look at the macro pictures please and notice the green area of the frog head in both pictures.. you'll find better colors and better details in the pixon photo. in the low light photos it's needless to say the pixon is much better. in the outdoors pictures, both are somehow the same but the wider angle for the pixon does its job. so people please be honest to yourselves, you like SE more than samsung it's up to you, but the pixon12 has a much better camera than the satio and you have to admit this because as one good man said this before me, many people can pay money for the wrong decision because of your biased comments

Dear "Anonymous", does your 10MP DSLR fit in your pocket? Or does it even cost only as one of those two cameraphones do? THAT is the point of a cameraphone... in my opinion. You can't have your DSLR with you anywhere, anytime, unlike a phone ;)

Well the satio and the pixon, both of them take good pictures very smooth and clear, but there is a difrence, because if you look closely between the satio and the pixon, majority of the pictures them that the satio take longside the pixon, the satio pictures them are much more clear, smooth and bright.......so well i would say that the satio is much better.....

Andrew, 16 Oct 2009Sure, 12MP sounds amazing! But, if you ask me, I think we'r... moreI agree Andrew. I have a DSLR with only 10 MP, but the pictures it takes whoops the sh*t of these cameraphones. A thought for GSMArena: besides the Pixon vs Satio pictures, include some pics from a DSLR camera, and all the MP fanboys will see that MPs don't count for nothing else but to take up a lot of space on you card, if you don't have the optics to back up the MP count...
As for the phone samples, I mainly noticed color deviations between them, but as I said, not having a professional camera to compare the pictures with, it's hard to say which one captures colors as they truly are (no artificial color enhancement to produce richer colors). Besides that, image sharpness and focus is nothing to be amazed about. My 3.2 MP camera takes pictures with almost the same sharpness as these 12 MP monsters ;-)

Well, I'm not a camera expert but here is my idea:
Pixon12 has 28mm lens and Satio regular lens (35mm If I'm not mistaken).
Advantage of 28mm lens over 35mm lens: 28mm has larger angle of view so you don't have to go back to take a landscape picture.
Advantage of 35mm lens over 28mm: If you want to take a closer picture specially taking people's picture with 28mm lens you have to come much closer to them or they won't fit the frame (Their picture become smaller than frame), Also their faces won't be natural. Problem of 28mm become worse when you want take a landscape picture and you want smaller angle. You can't solve this problem by stepping through the view. This means you loose some pixels for unwanted things.
So I should comment that I really don't like 28mm wide lens.
Considering size of files Pixon12's files are about 30% bigger. I think this may cause camera speed lower because of more algorithm process also time needed for saving bigger file.
1- The first three pairs of photos which has been taken outdoors in good lighting: Satio has less noise (much less if you consider about type of lens 35mm), more natural colors, but a little blurry specially in high lights. Pixon12 picture's are less blurry with a little color saturation in the sky even by changing the color itself a little bit (I think GSMArena like this. They have proved this idea in Samsung INNOV08). But in my opinion colors should be realistic. In the building Pixon12 should have more yellow and orange.
2- In macro picture again I can see Pixon12's color saturation. But Pixon12 has more detail in some parts of picture. Another thing is again SE has turned red to pink. I'm not sure if that ring is really red or pink, GSMarena's expert confirmation needed.
3- In low light condition definitely Pixon12 outperformed Satio. Again GSMArena's confirmation needed if this is whether hardware problem (which we have seen worse in LG Renoir) or software one. Considering C905's xenon flash, I think this problem will be solved by software.
At the end I should say I will buy satio about 4 month later. I tried not to misjudge because of that.
I should say that I have expected much more from SE. They took about a year to release this phone. Why they didn't test thire unit in low light condition.
I think GSMArena should make a complete review for this phone. Because Satio has much more functions to test like touch focus which was the worst in prototype.

Pixon12 has a small advantage over Satio in taking pictures but of course I will buy Satio because it is a much better PHONE

Satio to me, in outdoor is better by a bit, but they outperform each other in many things...
Satio wins better details, natural colors, less agressive noise reduction algorithm.
Pixon12 wins- less niose, better colors (more "beautiful"), sharpness.
I would say the are equal.. but than again..wich phone is ACTUALLY better?
Satio ofcourse... in almost every aspecy exept Pixon12 being wvga and amoled...
exept that Satio is better in every other aspect...
:)
