Looking at it more carefully,
Satio has a pink tint on its images. Its very very minor. Satio's images also feels a bit blurred- most visible in the macro shot.
Pixon seems to have a more crisp capture of the details, and also captures the soft shadows much better. Satio's pictures feels flat.
This could all change however, with a few firmware updates. We'll see.

both camera phones did a great job capturing images. i personally find the pixon12 pictures more saturated and appealing. the satio pictures comes out with more natural color overshadow with a hint of bluish tint. i was surprised how the satio outcome with the night shots. it just seems the xenon flash was underpowered and got outperformed by the pixon12.
for macro mode, the pixon12 came up with just a little more details but satio isn't far behind. the over saturated colors of the pixon12 does make it look a bit 'fake' but also helps bring out the color details on some parts 'headband'
for outdoors, the picture are a tie for me. both came up with very pleasing pictures. the whole thing about 28mm vs 35mm lens debate is really up to personal usage. some might like to take more portraits of others while others enjoy scenery pictures/self portraits. i really don't see the 28mm a bad thing, i find it easier to take a step in than to have everyone squeeze in the frame or miss someone out.

I can't believe GSMArena turned into an avenue of fanboy debate with Samsung and SE. 2 years ago this used to be Nokia vs SE fanwar but now...
Its pretty obvious that Pixon12 overall details are impressive but it has a disadvantage. being 28mm without lens zoom, this results to shrinked details on objects since the camera is trying to fit more objects onto the image frame that's why details are more pronounced in Satio (take a look on the center building shot where the umbrellas are standing) however it seems to me that Satio has some bad optics alignment making objects look blurred on some spots. pixon12 flash fires brighter than satio even with Pixon having less ISO sensitivity (Satio ISO = 200 while Pixon 12 = 160) which means Satio has not employed C905's Awesome flash module (perhaps the flash bulb is too large to fit) but Pixon12's colors indoor are washed-out. on outdoor shots i noticed that Pixon12 has some red tinge all over the images making the blue sky look abit purpleish which only few can notice. the reds are pumped-up as well. Satio's color saturation outdoors are better and this proves Sony sensors natural color rendering. on macro shots because Satio Shots have higher ISO settings so the N-R kicks in and the details are compromised making less details than Pixon12.
The fight is very good this time unlike last year wherein C905 was almost outperformed by every 8mp competitors. I can't believe how good Satio camera has become. its a matter of preference imo. Pixon12 gives pimped colors that reminds us of nokia N90,N73,N95 and N86 and that looks nice for everyone who doesn't want to retouch their pictures. but satio takes the usual natural colors that K750,W800,W810,W900 and K800,K810 has given, a far cry from the artificial quality that K850 and C905 gives. By the end of 2009 i can only see SE and Samsung fighting for the bestcamera crown. LG's 12mp is simply a concept and might not see the daylight at all. Nokia is far behind imo. i think their rumored 12mp phone won't come this year but H2 of 2010 and i expect images produced by this to be oversaturated, oversharpened and etc.

I think they are both tied.. Although.. the satio can still have a lot of improvements in the future on firmware updates since it is still very new.

Come on people, is there even a need to compare these two phones? Both of them have their pros and cons when it comes to imaging. For me, I think the satio did a better job when it comes to macro and like everyone said, it's a tie on outdoor shooting. But the night picture, damn satio's photos looks terrible. I guess that's what you get for using a small sensor. Still I believe both products are acceptable as they both appeal to different users. Satio to people who want a smartphone and pixon12 to those who want a feature phone. So at the end of the day, everyone's a winner^^

Won't go comparing these two, for me its a tie. Pixon is a bit over the edge when it comes to noise (the picture is too grainy for me) but at the same time manages to capture more details. Satio has less noise thanks to noise-blurring algorithm, but gains artefacts like ladders instead of straight lines (first two shots, balcony rails).
Its a tie regarding picture quality, if you ask me. Both show good results for phones. But I'd buy neither of them. My choice is Nokia 6720 classic and its $270 price (can get as low as $250 here), which is 2-3 times less than these fancy noisephones. Price matters. Can't believe I was ready to pay $1000 for a phone one year ago...
Price matters. At least during economy crisis ;)

josh, 17 Oct 2009well let me tell you guys somthing, I have got the nokia n8... morewhat kind of relevance does your n86 8MP have. clearly both cameraphones out perform that nokia here.
Outdoor - Tie (Too much noise reduciton on Satio,, over exposed on Pixon)
Macro - Satio (Pixon colours were kind of saturated, too much)
Indoor - Pixon by a mile
Overall - Pixon (however as an overall package both are still very competitive)

about the pixel count, pixel says nothing about the image quality, but in mobile phones, the latest models have more pixels, and the later the model, the more effort on the camera performance.
In a mobile, lacking optical zoom the pixels might be used for capturing details for "zooming" in the computer.
I only whish they would use techniques like fujufilms Super CCD EXR, and combine pixels to make better 6 mpix pictures. And use the 12 megapixels for capturing details in images that you might want to zoom in on.

Nitrogen, 17 Oct 2009Well, I'm not a camera expert but here is my idea: Pixon12... moreto be fair, the Satio real-life test devices havent had that 12 mpix module for that long. In the lab I don't know what module they've been using, but I doubt they have had this exact revision, even if they might have had 12 pix units.
