Update: Sony Ericsson have officially confirmed that multi-touch the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 cannot be enabled because of hardware limitations.
So... despite the hefty price for the X10, it still does NOT have certain features found in other Android phones that has v2.x!
WTF was SE thinking?!
Again, the company screwed up... first in delaying the release, then releasing with an older Android OS AND charging a HIGH price and now certain features will NOT be available due to "hardware limitations"!
Thank goodness I did NOT buy this phone!
I give up on Sony Ericsson! Too many Damn reasons to Hate the company!
Time to... aughh.... switch sides and wait for the new iPhone!

Well… For my tuppence worth, a review of the X10…
Firstly, if you’re expecting a phone that’s easy to set-up I would go for an i-phone. My experience to date says that the X10 is a bit of a dog to set up given the following:
E-MAIL
My email address is as old as the hills and the auto set feature just had no chance. After much faffing & calls to Orange, SE & Vodafone I discovered that the POP3 account will work fine. SMTP was a pain. Long story short; if you have an old e-mail address use a third party server for SMTP (such as Vodafone 360) and NOT your own SP server… It won’t work. (how you classify an ‘old’ address I’m not sure, but mine is 14 years old)
TRANSFERING CONTACTS
THE SE SYNC SOFTWARE DOESN’T WORK…!! But Vodafone or SE won’t tell you this! Controversial I realise, regards privacy, but the only secure way to get your contacts across is to use your SIM. Otherwise use googlemail. Even then you need to export contacts to a .CSV format & upload to googlemail.
Once I’d fought my way through the above I liked the phone. I say liked because mine’s just gone back to V’fone because 3G kept dropping out. Why am I getting a replacement you ask? The answer is I like a challenge and I want to suss the whole Android thing.
Overall, it’s not a bad phone. I think SE should get a wiggle on and get 2.1 ready like the desire and also look at multi-touch (although other peeps might disagree)
That said, if the new one doesn’t play ball, I shall probably bin it and get a Desire, although other forums say the battery life is just as bad…..
FINALLY… To really get on my soap box, Vodafone are completely rubbish at supporting the X10. I ended up with a level 3 tech guy & even he struggled to help me on some queries. Why do SP’s insist on having customers speak to a call centre when the so called ‘technicians’ know diddly about the phone you’re calling about??

AAH! The lens of my X10 have been scratched! But the main problem is- speaker volume is too low. Sony ericsson phones(specially this X10) r really beautiful....but SE should be more careful about things such as camera lens, speakers, batteries, memory slots etc. Please SE, try to be careful about this things.

Hmm, yes
That's all the advice I could give ):
All we can hope for now is a new firmware
Hey the guy with the problem of X10 not recognising incoming contact calls,
did you try to install any task manager?
Smartphones are like computer - android multitask - so maybe there wasn't enough
memory to process your contacts?
I know android will kill task automatically if needed but I would just want to give you some advice that I think would work.

Without FroYo, it'll just be slow compared to the Nexus One:

Love the feel and the look but find the touch screen hopeless. Within 24 hours I was unable to end a call that goes to voicemail or automated operator and I could not get the dail box up to press keys, it did not recognise incoming calls even tho logged in my contacts, it would not syn with computer and then it just kept closing down on me and restarting itself. Very mad Vodafone replaced it today with a new one - great I was very excited, checked out my voicemail, able to obtain keypad for automated operator walked out of shop very happy....... 4 hours later I had exactly the same original problem!!!

Hey, guys with battery problems, I can advise you to do about it before we get the firmware upgrades in the future (:
Currently, now I'm running my 24th hour and there's still 40% battery to go with regular usage, about 100 sms per day and about 30 minutes of browsing. Played some games for awhile. But mostly just used it for messaging, meebo and browsing (: Had some calls but not more than 10 minutes. And sometimes, I will be playing with the keyboard Swype ( it's awesome! ). I do not have facebook (:
So here are the tips that i got from XDA-developers forum for X10 that i found useful (Starting from the most important ones)
- Factory data reset ( I don't know why, but it works like a charm )
- furthermore, it is not as scary as I thought it would be (:
- Restart of phone after it is fully charged
- it's good with startup auditor (: (see below)
- Discharge the battery fully then recharge it (:
- just weeks later, your battery will be much better (it's my sixth charge)
- discharge means - use your phone until it shuts down by itself when battery
is dead
- Download Startup Auditor and Advanced task manager to help kill some task (:
- especially Moxier Mail. Use startup auditor to disable it if you do not
need it. It's vacuuming the juice out from your battery.
- I used the task manager to kill it every minute (:
- feel free to disable other programmes (I disabled SonyEricsson Sync, etc)
- Disabling all frequency checks - mail frequency, phone's software update frequency, mixzing album art check, etc.
- I personally do not need all these. I just click on mail and refresh to
check for update instead
- No bluetooth, no wifi ( I'm only using 3G connection AKA apn )
- I'm using GSM/WCDMA preferred (:
- Screen brightness to the lowest
- I don't know if this helped as it still looked as bright lol
- BTW I installed Screebl which will off my screen when I'm not using it.
- pretty nice and I even set the screen timeout of the phone to 15sec
- If you are using the phone, it will not off its screen
- you can customize this in the preference (:
- LASTLY, off APN when you are off to dreamland (:
Only screebl was my idea of optimizing the battery performance. I don't find juicedefender useful at all - I would rather disable my APN myself as juicedefender, IMO, is also consuming much power.
I'm still using the R1FA014 build ):
So there you have it. These are the best tips for my X10 (:
Love this phone but why can't SE give us an android 2.2 update?
Android 2.2 (froyo) allows the phone to be fully flash capable
Let's all just complain? (:
I'm still waiting for the official Swype and Skyfire(firefox) in Asia~
Skyfire allows us to watch some flash videos on some websites
It's already out in UK and US but not in Asia ):

I am confused now -_-
some say its a cool phone and the audio+touchscreen+volume+camera are just awesome, others say totally the opposite ,that the screen is not so responsive and the earphones volume are so slow+ the camera is uncool?
I am really planning to buy this phone cause i think i liked it, most ppl advice me to take the iphone, but I still insist on takin this phone, however.. i hope its not that bad as most are saying.
mm..i think some are just xaggerating. this is a good phone.
