Nokia N8 vs. Samsung Pixon12 vs. Sony HX5v shootout: Blind test

05 October 2010
The Nokia N8 is an immensely popular phone and we’re already hard at work on a proper review of the handset. Since the N8 camera is its pivotal feature, we’re interested how you'd rate it in a blind shootout with two other cameras...

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2010uh... counting posts and relying on the intelligence of the... moreseriously many N8 haters here

and what test do you want for this?profesional photographer to judge which is the best?are you f**k*ng out of your mind!Nokia did'nt create the N* for them...and sure N8 is a mobile fone, and its main function is to make a call...thats whats mobile fone are! and its second main thing is the camera, that is why it is the focus for its review...third is OS, and Nokia is like hell doing its best to revive Symbian(they really did a big mistake letting IOS4 and Android get ahead of this department)... if you want other features not on this fone, then nokia did not make it for you. But other consumer sure hell want those

if you want those other feature, blab on Nokia site to create that mobile otherwise just accept the fact that N8 is superb at camera department

note that GSMArena haven't praised the n8 by its own words, they just show the voting figures.

very amature review, i would espect from GSMARENA at least make a review like mobile-review did.
puting a few pictures on a bad day and let the kids to deside, you gotta be kidding.

by the way did someone saw a counter? i didnt. next time put a normal vote.

It was a blind test, no one cheated. The pictures taken by the N8 are clearly the winners. I see people referring to a negative review of the N8 on mobile-review.com by Eldar Murtazin. Remember him? He's the guy that Nokia asked to return "all unauthorised Nokia property" and when he didn't the Russian authorities got involved. I don't think he's posted a fair review. Do you? Really?

[deleted post]They did a blind test.

If anything, the users are giving a damn about it, considering they were the ones who voted.

It was clear to me, when I saw the first picture, that the N8 was much much better on fine detail (like metal grids and the like).

Of course, I would never leave my comfortable Android world for a Symbian. But they were fair.

              Praise GSMArena for that.

GSMArena, is definitely the best mobile review site out there. Nicely done.

[deleted post]Colors in each and every iPhone pic in that review are off and a lot too. They look totally unnatural and yet that is somehow "better" picture. Serious comparison... NOT!

GSMArena version is as serious as it gets: users selected what they thought to be best in blind test.

Have had my N8 for almost a week now and confirm it takes super picrures, another good thing is that already, some one have fixed so it can shoot with 30 frames per second and auto focus when you using camcorder..and that with a phone that has been out only this week..will be more updates for sure..a faster webbrowser is needed..

uh... counting posts and relying on the intelligence of the average comment poster (*cough*) to make a subjective decision which pics were better based on a severely limited range of photos is hardly what you'd call a reliable indicator of the N8's camera quality.

And I thought the N8 was a *mobile phone*? Yes it's supposed to be the key feature, but I'd be more interested if works well as a *phone* and all the other bits people demand from their phones these days (ie. decent games, browsing, battery life) than just a focus on the camera.

I thought for sure C was the digicam in yesterday's post, but after I saw the results, just stunted. C has significantly more detail and less noise reduction in the resolution and high iso test. Granted in regular daylight test, the difference is much more subtle if not totally gone. Great job GSMarena, this is as definitive image test as it gets.

Here's what i'd like to see. Gsmarena please continue with this experiment/vote now that it's revealed which is which. I want to see some people re-voting A as best and C as worst with excuses that they accidentally voted C as the best when they really think A is better. I'd like to read those excuses, it'll be fun.

and kudos to GSMArena for coming up with this ingenious method, other sites have been biased and busy proving N8 is rubbish by using dirty tricks, GSMArena shows it to the world as it is!
                                congrats, you guys are stars!

Interesting. Readers voted N8 as the best among those three, ie in the company of a real p&s camera. Now that the mystery is revealed, people (haters) will start criticizing what they just voted as the best. Funny. Love it or hate it. Nokia N8 is impressive. Admit it.
