Nokia N8 vs. Samsung Pixon12 vs. Sony HX5v shootout: Blind test

05 October 2010
The Nokia N8 is an immensely popular phone and we’re already hard at work on a proper review of the handset. Since the N8 camera is its pivotal feature, we’re interested how you'd rate it in a blind shootout with two other cameras...

i think this blind test is genius
GSMA let us choose the best picture, and the results clearly show that most people choose N8 picture as the winner

i wonder why there's haters dare to says that this test is not fair or not good.
can you tell me how to do a good camera comparison test?

and for all haters that say giz*modo, end*gadget, or mob*lereview is better, you must be st*pid, mate

C was not always the best in my eyes but that's personal taste. Anyway this is a good way to make an unbiased decision. Still it would have been more accurate if shots had been taken in the exact same weather conditions.

With GSMA posting their review within shot period of time , here s a short note.
1.First of all if you are planning to buy N8 what are you expecting from the device and what to expect form the device.
2.How well will it compare against previous symbian units .
3.What compromises /advantages will N8 provide over iOS and android.
(This is whole lot different and controversial topic though)
4.To be fair let GSMA express their view about so called APP store.(I think that this is most exaggerated topic created by other platform users. I am symbian user and i have at the most installed 70 useful apps on my unit. All do their homework very well. Only insane ppl will care about thousands of apps, i think they are completely nuts)
5."You get what you pay for." Is this the case with n8.
(Obviously compare N8 with other phones with their current prices.)
6.How productive is the N8(USB otg, hdmi out , etc).

How can we be sure that the results are not interchanged? Don't get me wrong am a nokia phone user also but I used to have a pixon12 too. So i do have an idea on its photos' quality. Just wanna be sure the results are fully validated.

I think the pixon was victim of weather, this is for example very good shot from pixon http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/cam/samsung/gt_m8910/201009162205Y72N2w.jpg

So sharp and colourful, or what you think?

i saw that pixon pushing too much blue on the sky, so that's why it lost every photo because the weather of photos was always same (and that pixon colourful style definately don't work with that weather). I wanted to see sharp closeups or something else but all of the was landscape photos which is hard to get any details, every photographer knows that, i wish there was more different style of photos.

Just accept that N8 was woted to take the best picture..Have had mine a week now and realise that there are many out there that don´t like nokia,I understand them after releasing phones like N97..but this one is fine..No freezing while zooming on mine or lags..just don´t know where they get all the bad reviews from..It´s a fine phone for taking picture with and the other things on the phone runs smoothly..only downside is the webbrowser, just use Opera insteed and it´s fine..take a look at these picture as well.. "Shootout: Nokia N8 v Canon 550D DSLR" at http://thehandheldblog.com ...N8 compared with Canon 550D DSLR...nice that not everybody hate Nokia and can also make a fair test like this on gsmarena

i've been a solid nokia user for so long and would like to try out other phones like android. and you... your company keeps releasing phones like this.
                        N8 is freaking awesome!!!!
i still want the e7 though... dunno.

Guys, This review I have to admire you about doing very job

IMHO! HX5v is Satio in disguise because it had same EXMOR R sensor type even though it maybe different model by smaller pixels AFAIK but better with wide-angle-lens equipped.

Have you guys look on identity of both N8 and HX5v images produced it think really close one especially shade of colors and those pictures doesn't look much sharpen after algorithm processed much as old model.

                            Just my two cents haha!

But if it were real this N8 would be real shame because no actual part made from Nokia itself, Possibly EXMOR R Sensor from Sony and AMOLED Plus screen from Samsung :P

i can't believe how idiotic somevofcthese comments are... so what if the n8 is perhaps slightly better than a point and shoot camera?so what if it doesn't have led flash for video? you people just want one device to do it all for you? i still use the camera from my n70 for casual shooting when i don't have a proper camera at hand but no camera phone will ever replace a dslr. if you need recording too, consider the 5d markII...i hear it beats the c**p out of most camrecorders.
getting back to the matter at hand, all the shots are very noisy and i am sure that my fuji s5600 can do a lot better.and it is over 4 years old.
however,if you want something that will almost do everything that a phone does+what a digital camera and a camcorder does+what a portable gaming console does+what a netbook does etc etc, then both the n8 and the pixon will cut the cheese...hell! even the crapy iphone will do the job, just for much more money than the other two and you will have a lot more droped calls ;)...keep it real..

There is no point compare with point and shoot sony it is much cheeper- MUCH.. for price of n8 you can buy simple smart phone and sony nex-3 (if you know what is nex-3 then you will think of buying this phone).
