HTC Desire HD review: Most wanted

11 November 2010
Proceed with caution, big Snapdroids ahead. We guess that sign is due wherever someone mentions Desire HD. It’s big and bad and it takes no prisoners. HTC certainly took their time with releasing a badass Android handset on our side of the pond but ...

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2010I've had this phone for just over a week and the battery on... moreCheck there is not an app eating away at performance Advanced system monitor from the market can tell you your memory and cpu state, if cpu is allways very high that will be a cause to short battery life. I browse the web, listen to music, allways have the wifi on everything on auto sync. today its been on 12 hours 30 mins and is holding a 60% charge

Demiourgos, 15 Nov 2010So it's a crappy music device? Even trough cable headphon... moreHonestly, the DHD sounds way better in my ears with the standard headphones than my previous iphone 3GS with its standard headphones.

I also use a skullcandy headphone but with my iphone, it just didn't sound that nice. Now with the DHD and SRS activated, it produces really nice full sound.

Why the hell no battery life testing in the review gsmarena
everybody's making a big fuss over it so you should have at least mentioned something about it (looks like you conveniently forgot about it, much too conveniently i think, to HTC's advantage.)
Give me my detailed battery life test

Ha its actually funny how caught up we all get in these little things, really all thes recent phones are absolutely fantastic, it still amazes me what you can actually carry in your pocket now. And once you use these phones for a week, and then it gets taken away.............it feels like your left arm has been ripped off!

1st) the video on page 3 shows that swiping across various sections of the ui is not as fluid as say a handset running wp7. is this normal for this handset/android in general? i have never owned or used a handset running android.

2nd) does saying handset instead of phone make me sound more intelligent/sophisticated?

so basically, if you don't use your cell for recording videos, listening to mp3 or listening to radio, it is a nice handset... for me, I use my phone mainly for music, this is nothing, unfortunately... I just love the big screen...

I've had this phone for just over a week and the battery only lasts about 4 hours when I do some emails and web browsing.

Will they release a longer lasting battery soon?

I am still waiting for a phone that is capable of playing MKV 720p files and send it thru DLNA to my tv... with some quality and including subtitles reading. Also I am still waiting for a batery that can keep my phone on for at least 1 week with regular use.

I have one and the battery life is compairable to the first desire. The screen dose look a little low on contrast, esp if your used to an amoled.

Sound could be better but thats just me being picky (also using a set of bluetooth headphones.

Otherwise its blazingly quick and all that you could want. Easily the best mobile device to browse the web with so far.

Build quality is fantastic and the size is fine (pretty much the same as a SGS

What's all this? Everyone bashing this phone when they don't even have it in their hands.
Well I've been using it for one month now (got it 19th of October)and here are a few remarks:
-The battery DOES last more than one day (about 1.5 day with moderate use, 1 day with heavy use)
-The screen IS very good. I'm a fotographer and this is the screen for me. Nice colortrue pictures. The SAMOLED had me ROFL when I saw it, awfull SAMOLED screen. But I must admit that contrast of the DHD's screen could be better
-it is absolutely not too big. I'm wearing normal jeans and I fit 2 phones in one pocket. My DHD (with case) and a brick Nokia 3109 phone and I do not notice ANY diffirence from when I had my iPhone.
-All of my friends' first reaction is: "so big, how can you fit it in your pants?" untill they try it themselves and they say, wow I almost can't even feel it in my pocket.

still love my DHD but I'm on the lookout for a good satnav app
