The E7 looks to be Nokia's Symbian last finest shining moment. After that, Nokia is just going to be playing third fiddle to all the Androids and iPhones out there now. Its sad but I do love Nokia and its Symbian handsets. No doubt WP7 may be their last hope of survival but unfortunately, I dislike Windows. I already have heard negative rumblings from friends who have WP7 phones so unless somehow, Microsoft improve the WP7 functionality pretty fast and Nokia comes up with a winning WP7 design, its all over for them.

Hi GSM ARENA. You write good hands on reviews. I like to read them a lot and base much of my judgement on mobile phones from your great reviews. In this review you have claimed that one of the main disadvantage is "Ovi store content is inferior to Android market and App Store". Could you enlighten us on the qualitative point of inferior used here and share with us some of your wide knowledge on the facts and figures or source of studies/audit done to come up with that claim/point/statement.

I am confused, I was about to gift this phone to my uncle as it is a business phone but after reading comments, I think I need to read some more reviews on this phone.

The only problem with these phone is that its battery is not replaceable am using n97mini sometimes its hangs all the buttons seized and i have 2 remove the battery before and restart d phone imagine using E7 n it freezes

True, the touch, and overall user experience may be a bit "uncool", as compared to the iPhone (and all its clones, such as Android, and the recent Windows Phone 7). But under the layer of interface is the real OS. And thats where the real, measurable, definable difference lyes.
The ability to install apps from anywhere (A web page, an installable file, besides the Ovi Store)
The ability to view and manage files through a file manager (not there in Iphone), and even attach SD cards and a pen drive ((again not there in any other device), and view their content in the file manager, does bring it a whole lot closer to a computer, than does any other platform, where all you do is swipe, pinch to zoom!!
The ability to place multiple wall papers on different home screens (not possible on either Iphone, Android, and definitely not on Windows!)
The ability to download files from within the browser to a location on the phone/SD card/Pen drive. iPhone doesnt even let you download from a browser.
And finally, the ability to connect the phone to a TV, where in you get the entire phone's interface on the TV screen, through a regular AV cable or HDMI. Instead of a USD 50 proprietory cable to get the iphone to even look at a TV!
So Id say on the contrary, where Symbian devices are open, and let you do a whole lot, on others such as iPhone you need to do most of the things through round about methods.
here's a classic example:
Imagine you took a picture from your Canon, and wanted to mail it to say your friend. True, you'd put the camera's SD card into your lap top, and attach the pic to a mail, and send it. But hang on, if most smart phones are "closer to a computer", then shouldnt you be able to do it using them?? Instead of taking the pain of turning on a computer just for this one thing.
This would let you do it. But the iPhone doesnt even have a reader.
So, I'd say th next time you review a device, please do so more comprehensively, instead through the prejudiced anti Symbian POV.
Every platform has its strengths. The iPhone has its (and we all know that). And so does Symbian. If there is one thing I love about it, it is its openness. And you mentoned the apps, just check out the number of reviews on any particular app on OVI store and you'd realise the number of downloads they have. I have yet to find an app I use on my iphone that isnt there. Conversely, there are quite a few on SYmbian that are not there for either iPhone or Android: Micosoft office Communicator is one example

When the Nokia rep first presented the phone to us, he challenged me to an email speed test (I use a Blackberry Torch). He beat me hands down. This suprised me, because Blackberry has always had the fastest email client bar none. Or at least that's what I was telling clients.
The camera is way, way better than any Blackberry that has actually existed, by at least 3MP, so your comment makes zero sense??
And of course you missed BBM, only Blackberry can use BBM. DURRR. But hey, let's blame it on the E7 anyway?
I am not a fan of Symbian and will not be switching to E7. However, your comments are just backwards.

Hello Friends;
I traded by BB Bold 3 against E-7. E-7 sucks big time. Following is my review:
Plus:
1. Great looks (dubm blond)
Minus:
1. Business apps are veru poor
2. Emails are very slow even on 3-G; phone hangs many times.
3. Touch screen interface is very tricky and does not give confidence to the user.
4. Camera is very poor.
5. OVI suit does not come in CD form; you need to download it from the new and the file size is whooping 98 MB.
6. I miseed my BBM, Emails. Could not down load whatsapp.
I used this phone for 2 days sold it taking 20% dent and bought BB-Bold 3 again.
So friends my sincere advice is looks can be killing. Stay away from the joker called as E-7

symbian is boring and the pinch zoom is very laggy, can anyone tell me the right phone and as expensive as this but have better performance ?

The Hardware is first rate. There's a lot you can do with Symbian 3 and its not as bad its been written about generally. but, its not a phone for someone coming from iphone or android - who are used to rapid updates and better interface; but for symbian users who are shifting from version 2. I wish Nokia refreshed the UI and the fonts - that in itself will be a big change. there's a steady stream of vital apps that's being included in the clunky ovistore. overall, the handset is fantastic. price a bit on the higher side, and the software experience is decent, nothing fancy.

AnonD-1082, 03 Mar 2011Try living in Asia and you will see people still rocking an... moredude, i still rock a nokia 3210. it's not my main phone though. i have a bold 9700, and use the 3210 just as a 2nd phone. i use it just to see people's faces when you go into the meeting room and you pull out a dinosaur phone. lol.

If you don't know, no other Eseries device have full Flash support or a better browser, and still, they are best-selling for business man.
Nokia doesn't need to wake up for Flash support, Nokia need to know what is usefull and what is not, and that Nokia knows for sure.
Adobe Flash on phones is useless. You probably will only really need flash to see ads on websites. Otherwise, heavy flash content will usally lag the phone and will drain the battery rather quickly, Flash is made for desktop, not phones. Flash will die in the near future since HTML5 is coming and it's alot better. And most websites are optimized for non-flash devices mainly because the "iPhone era".
However, if you are a self proclaimed business man and really need full Flash support (which I doubt), just go for the almighty Android realm.
