Yeah, I agree with the poster who said that you guys should stop arguing whether some Nokia is good or not; this is the Xperia Arc section.
The Arc is by far the best phone I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few throughout the years. The extraordinary design coupled with smooth and stable software and a low price makes one hell of a package. There aren't any notable disadvantages with the phone except for the viewing angles on the screen, but since the screen is one of the best screens I've ever seen when looking on it from the right angle, it more than makes up for it. The camera is great, the keyboard is great, the interface is great (no lag whatsoever, even when using the cool widget overview) and it's comfortable to hold and to pocket due to it's slim design. If you are looking for a excellent handset with a large screen and a small price tag, Xperia Arc is the right handset for you.
Oh and by the way, I'm writing this message from my Arc :)

Cnet Said that the phones battery was very poor. Can anyone comment on how good the battery is?

That image quality comparison tool is quite cool, but could you start taking comparison pictures in low light with flashlight? I think everybody can make decent camera for daylight, but low light especially with flashlight is tricky imho.

Finally an amazing and an unbiased review. I might still grab this before the Galaxy S2 comes out because there is no word on S2's release date and I am without a good phone at the moment.
Thanks GSMArena for helping me make a choice with your wonderful review.

I say, 2dB boost on bass and treble can be easily cancelled with equalizer without any noticeable effect. The main attraction from this phone to me is the Camera. It's vastly superior to any other phone's camera of the same class, or even 1 higher.
It doesn't change the saturation like other phones' camera (hey finally, we have something we can brag about being "accurate"), it doesn't sharpen the edge extremely like many of HTC's, it's definitely great at taking video even at low light condition

I think, that's already enough to counter the 2dB boost "disadvantage" on bass and treble range (heck, I don't even see it's a disadvantage, but rather an advantage. Because who listen to a song nowadays without playing the equalizer?)

One thing that i didn't like is unnecessary stress on non-hot swappable memory card. How ofter somebody changes the memory cards. Why there is an unnecessary comment on non-hot swappable memory cards.

- Can you tell the difference with the accurate one ?
- Does the music sounds good to you with such frequency response setup ?
I personally don't dwell too much on practically subjective things like colors and sound quality. Most of the time, the difference in numbers are simply imperceptible by humans.
It's like comparing 2 graphics card A and B. A has 110 avg fps on game X, while B has 100 avg fps on the same game. But in practical, human eyes can only tell the smoothness-increase up to 60 fps. Beyond that, it's an effort to notice the difference.

You may use the equalizer to try to make the Arc frequency response accurate, but equalizers have limitations and while you can lower some frequencies, other ones may still be impossible to handle without affecting other ones.

I personally set my Winamp equalizer to give +2~+7 dB boost on lower frequency for all my musics by default.
And as for images post-processing, I think you still can play with saturation easily as long as the contrast detail is well-preserved. Oh well.. most of the "it looks good!" pictures we see nowadays are mostly post-processed anyway.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2011Accurate sound doesn't mean it's good to hear. Accurate ... moreYeah, it differs from person to person, it's a matter of personal taste. However, giving a accurate sound performance is much better because people hear the music how it meant to be, and if they want a bass or treble boost, they could use a graphic equalizer. On Arc it would not be possible, since the default frequency response already boost the bass and the treble so you have to live with that even if you don't like it.

AnonD-4583, 02 Apr 2011dude if u hve any doubt read the gsmarena review on sony zy... moreOK man, but tell me how many phones from SE have the same good performance? The Arc itself is an example that SE isn't doing great on audio quality, and hey, it's a High end and very expensive phone! Nokia never disappoints even with mid-range phones and Samsung is doing fine with their high-end phones just like Apple does with the iPhone.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like Samsung neither Apple, in fact I rather buy an Arc than Galaxy S or an iPhone 4, but you have to be unbiased.

AnonD-3713, 02 Apr 2011That you are not a SE fanboy is pretty hard to believe. Che... moreAccurate sound doesn't mean it's good to hear.
Accurate color doesn't necessarily looks better. There's no definite line when color looks "pale", "just well saturated", and "oversaturated". It differs from one person to another.
I believe that goes the same with the sound. I've read an article the musics nowadays are very heavy on bass and treble while really lacking on middle frequency. Probably SE intentionally adjusted the frequency response on that certain range to enhance that experience more.
