I don't know why so many people say SE are expensive, here they are cheaper than most other brands, either on a plan or by themselves.
Iphone is the most expensive, followed by htc and nokia, and then the rest are pretty similar in price.

wel i lik it ....gud but if better is available why to go with just gud......go for Nokia E7 or N8 ....better options...symbian'3 devices....value for money......thanks.

m working with telecom industry. But I can't understand y so pepole fan of Sony Erisson. U spending a lots of money so y u purchase Sony E. Y u buying other Brand right? Sony Ericsson make at only high design phon's but it too expensive and u just repair it so no spair parts is available. what should i think.............. ur self

The Arc is approximately the same price as the 2X, which I would never consider coz of it's ugly ui and design. The S2 is more than $150 (that's 8 months worth of credit for me!!) more expensive than the Arc which is not worth it if you dont require dual core, so not gunna get that iclone phone. And the Atrix is more expensive than the Arc and it's performance is worse, although it has high end specs, so obviously not even gunna consider that. HTC on the otherhand have a great ui and solid build and design (although reused), so that would be a worthy purchase.
So in summary:
Arc, HTC sensation etc = Yes buy
S2, 2x, Atrix = No buy

And stop trying to convince people to avoid the Arc. People are on this forum because attracts them. If they find out that they are not happy with the specs or the price, I'm sure they won't buy it. Right now, it's like you're trying to convince your mate to change his mind from the ordinary girl he likes to a boring looking woman with 3 PhDs. Pointless, mate.

I use it for work calls, emails and some social use. Come on, i dont need super high end or duo, triple or quad core processors...it works fine...It all depends on the needs of the phone user...for me...one word PERFECT. Piece of advice, use a lap top if you need to do serious works...nothing beats the conventional computer. Handphones are for Phone Calls...

I've been using the Arc for a week now, and I can tell you it's a fantastic phone.. I don't give a damn about dual-cores, 360° viewing angles and hot-swappable SD. I got a great-looking, slim smartphone, the latest Android version with light (and actually quite nice-looking) customization.
I do think that the Galaxy SII will be one of the very best when it finally gets on the market, no doubt of it, but it'll cost at least 150 euros more.. they're not in the same price-range.
I believe that this Arc is a very complete package with outstanding experience out of the box, capable of handling most tasks and apps without problems. There will be faster phones? Ok, but now, I chose it over any other device, even if it's not free of flaws.
About the screen, the images look amazing. Great contrast and very balanced performance (not oversaturated like sAMOLED), it's very readable under direct sunlight (I don't know how much of this is due to Bravia Engine, though). Viewing angles are indeed those of a standard LCD, but I'm quite sure I'm the only one who needs to look at the screen..
Battery life seems ok, it can last to the end of the day under quite heavy usage (3G, calling, text and some games), but i'd definitely pick a greater battery capacity instead of the Exmor Camera or the secondary mic for example...

I don't actually like this thinness fashion manufacturers blew up so much. Thinner's not better for a phone, because you have very little space for holding it while you talk, and it's very likely that you drop it. Now you don't really want to do that with a phone costing 500 EUR or more, right? Anything less than 15 mm thickness gets very uncomfortable.

Have anyone thought about price? The reason for not having a dual-core in the Arc, in maybe because having a single-core would make the phone cheaper. If you compare the Arc's price with the X10's price, when it came out, there is a HUGE difference. And that's because all the "new stuff" were in the X10. I think SE have been very smart, with putting a processor in a phone that can handle all the apps, even when it's not the newest and best.

I agree with a lot of people on here...
I think that a LOT of people only use their phones for the basics (making / receiving calls / texts / occasional apps) - BUT - then you probably wouldn't go for a flagship phone, you'd go for the cheaper "Nero" option or "Galaxy Ace"... and this is the Arc's problem - it's touted as "flagship / high end / best in its class" - and therefore is priced accordingly, BUT, as I've previously said it just can't compete...
HAVING SAID THAT - I wished that more of the dual core phones looked like the Arc - because it's a fantastic looking phone (although I'm not liking how phones are getting slimmer - give me a bigger battery and a bit of bulk, and I'd be much happier!)
So if looks / moderate use is for you - get the Arc, if raw power is your thing - looks like Galaxy 2 is for you!
Personally, I'd love a slide-out keypad with the power of the G2..
Again wishful thinking! :)

Well yeh of course some would be upset about not having a dual core and I personally would have wanted one on the Arc/SE phone. It definitely is a factor that affects your purchase. But this is purely from a tech/mobile enthusiast point of view. Honestly 90% of people would have not even heard of dual core tegra processors etc yet.
It's true that the Arc definitely can't compete with dual core and high ram phones for intensive uses/applications/benchmarks etc. But dual core phones can still lag due to software etc. And with storage i just use a sd card..
And most people don't use their phones for intensive applications such as gaming, hd watever etc. Honestly most people use their phones for the basics (call,text,web,cam,photos,apps)and few added extras. So from that point of view, so a typical consumer, they would be happy with this phone especially since it's got such a smexy design (which is definitely something that most consumers consider, and is what's special over other phones with generic designs like atrix, 2x etc).
I think SE have learned from their mistakes but not to the extent that they're bringing out top notch flagships. They have improved with respect to the last years androids by having the latest software and providing updates etc. So they still have some areas from improvement, like most companies.
When the majority of reviews are positive/good, the phone tbh can't be that bad.
And yeh I'm definitely waiting for a dual core sony ericsson to be released sometime this year as well.

I agree that as a flagship phone, its hardware specs left a lot to be desired.
Nonetheless, from what we've seen so far, Arc's software makes the most out of its hardware, making it one of the best/smoothest android phones to date. But, again, with more dual-core phones emerging (SGS2 is looking pretty good), that won't stay true for very long.
So hopefully Sony have something more amazing up their sleeves.

Those points would be really valid, if they were true...
Unfortunately, regardless of raw processor power, 512RAM and 400MB usable ROM - alongside a single-core processor simply cannot compete (with the best will in the world) against double the amount of RAM and a dual core processor... whatever the manufacturer.
EQUALLY I think it's only got 320mb internal storage(?) which is woefully inadequate for today's needs - and again will all contribute to eventual sluggishness...
As for learning mistakes from the past - I don't think they have, the X10 would have been a fantastic phone released a year earlier - and I dare say I'd have bought this over the the Galaxy S last year, but this year, it's a year too late... like it or not, phones and apps are moving into dual-core territory and even 3D - this is very much a standard phone, offering nothing special over its closest competition...
I'd personally go for the XP Play over this - as at least it offers something different that no other phone can offer...

So what if LG, samsung, moto have higher specs, it doesn't mean that they are better phones! It's about the overall performance and usability of the phone considering many factors. Even though the 2X and Atrix have higher specs does not mean they perform better in general use use (of course with quadrant scores etc they will perform better due to newer cpu etc).

I don't think Samsung provide timely updates at all for android, people are still waiting for 2.3 just like the x10. And Lg only had one android phone to update but SE had 4.

A lot of people make good points about not everyone needs the fastest, best phone out for it to be a great experience, etc.
BUT
For your flagship phone - the best of the new wave of Xperia to only have 512MB RAM, when phones a year ago double this (my Galaxy S for example) is unforgivable.
This is obviously trying to compete with the phones of 2011 - and unfortunately is has the specs of a 2010 phone.
Yes, it looks nice, but with 512mb I can imagine once you start filling your screens with widgets, etc that the "smoothness" will begin to judder...
I'm not sure what phone to go for next (Galaxy 2, HTC Evo 3D, maybe something not even announced yet) - but it would never be this - as it would literally be like going for a downgrade... it's like the X10 all over again - too little, too late..
