The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc is back for a second round and this time it will stay a while longer. The company’s new flagship did great in our preview and we’d gladly have more of it. The new BRAVIA screen and the impressive...

Most websites/tech magazines etc have given 4/5+ or 8/10+, so generally 80% or greater.

One of the latest reviews by Ausdroid looked very favourably on the Arc,
"The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is the device I’ll be recommending to almost anyone who asks me which Android device to go for."

[deleted post]When I had samsung jet a couple of years back, I did not get any "timely update" whatsoever. What do you say about that? Are you gonna say that they have improved? How do you know that Sony hasn't improved as well? Arc users have already got one update so far and x10 is getting gingerbread very soon. Is that not good enough? And for the specs, I remember samsung jet processor was the fastest in market yet it lags like I have never seen in any mobile phone. But I know it doesn't mean that galaxy s2 will be the same. So why don't you give Arc a chance. Maybe it won't be as powerful as galaxy s2 but who cares? As long as the buyer thinks it's smooth enough, it's good enough. As long as the buyer is happy with the look and feel of the phone, no other phones matter.

Anonymous, 11 Apr 2011headphone jack at the side!!! failure SE. Arc is 439 pounds... morePeople have already pointed this out so many times. The 3.5mm is on the side because it makes more sense.
If you put your phone in your jacket pocket, the phone will be on its side. If you use the holster, it'll also be on its side. If you put it in your pocket, then L- shaped jack that comes with the phone works fine. If you're not happy with the quality of stock earphones, just go out and get Nuforce, klipsch x10, UE TF10 or Westone earphones etc. And if you're not prepared to pay for earphones of those price, just stick with the stock ones coz, you won't find anything that much better for less than 70 bucks.
And why did you mention iPhone? We're talking about androids here.
You haters need to get a life. If you've bought the phone and it freezes on you twice every hour then ok, go ahead and complain. But you just have a glance at the specs and bash Sony like crazy. What's up with that? Grow up.

Maybe not everyone needs the most powerful phone in the market, dual core to play those 'serious' games.
Maybe people want a good looking phone that works fine, instead of ugly generic-looking phones that are more powerful than they'll ever need.
You don't think Sony Ericsson is good. We get it. You've made your point. So stop trolling around and leave because it's getting really annoying.

AnonD-5497, 10 Apr 2011what r u guys talking about!!!!!ARC Over priced!!!!!!!!!lol... more just wait let the 2.3 of samsung galaxy s come ,you might be comparing ARC with 2.2 android of galaxy s,and also galaxy s is one year old phone, its really unjustice to compare a 1 year old phone with arc,but still galaxy s stays very close to arc in power and xperia arc will be destroyed with the upcoming galaxy s2,sony will surely feel the power of galaxy s2 ,just wait and watch,i ain't any samsung fanboy, infact i myself buyed an xperia x8,but i was really disappointed with sony,as poor updates, poor software,no option to turn off auto brightness,no multi touch, they really poor in 2010,and talk about the power between galaxy s,xperia arc, galaxy s2, lg optimus 2x

well i don't know about the benchmark of galaxy s2 but i do know that xperia arc had a benchamrk in quadrant of around 1625 with android 2.3 while lg optimus 2x had a benchmark of 2250 with android 2.2.1,so i don't think there must be a question about why lg optimus 2x is better to buy then xperia arc

Just some questions for Arc users-
How are you finding the alert notification volume on it? Is it loud enough in real world situations? Tried one instore and wasn't bowled over with volume output?

Also can the text font be changed? I know it can on the Optimus 2 and most likely on the galaxy 2.

Also, music player-what's the quality of that like in real world environment?

I would never get the Lg 2x, it's so duh ugly and not special besides from dual core (which not everyone needs). Arc is so duh sexy and has all the features I need and is on 2.3 not 2.2 like the 2x.

Arc has a lot of flaws and is far from perfect. But I would pick it over any dual-core phones everyday.
