Sony Xperia S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II: S-hootout

09 March 2012
Released nearly a year apart, the Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy S II are not that different - both are flagship droids with dual-core CPUs and 4.3" screens. But the newer Xperia S brings some fine upgrades, like a 12MP camera and a 720p screen.

        News as reported today.

Telstra and Samsung have just unveiled the "ultra fast" Galaxy S II 4G which will run on Telstra's LTE network from tomorrow.
The 4G S II version also has a larger 4.5" (800×480) SuperAMOLED Plus screen, more potent 1.5GHz dual core processor and a bigger battery than original S II. It also kitted out with Near Field Communications chip built in for tag reading.

It wouldn't make sense of Sony to make a worse or even equivalent phone to Galaxy S II which was released almost an year ago lol!

I was just looking at a youtube video of Xperia S and they noted it has troube or does not render well on zooming in on a photo it has taken. This would be important for me. Is this also a problem with SII.
                  Thanks for any comments.

I put my Galaxy S2 on for sale and bought a Sony Xperia S, the camera is brilliant you cant fault it BUT it goes down hill from thier, the screen is not as responsive the resultion is not as good, the 3 hot keys are sticky/slow, its much heavier, clusmy UI, I have now sold it and gone back to my Galaxy S2, now awaiting the Galaxy S3.

I've just joined the conversation now, but you say android only works fine ond high end phones, and you are comparing it to the iOS. But is there a low end phone running iOS 5 to make this comparison fair? or have you tried to upgrade iphone 3gs to ios 5? I Guess not..

                                      H all,

I was surprise that Xperia S is not clear winner over GS2. Xperia S is a a year gap since GS2 lunch. GS2 still perform in the top line to date compare to latest high end device.

PLUSSS ++ Xperia should be use Gorilla Glass :(

GSIII is about shown up... I'll wait for it.
