I ditched my Galaxy SII and iPhone 4S for this phone. Call quality and signal reception are much better than the other two. Camera is pretty close to Galaxy SII after the recent firmware update, but won't touch the iPhone 4S'. This phone is reliable as the iPhone 4S but can't say the same about Galaxy S2. Android isn't known for reliable and that is true for all my Android phones. I have hundreds of apps on Lumia 900 and iPhone 4S, they both run fast like they have no apps. Android phones slow down with more apps. I will get a WP8 later. Windows Phone has the best interface and can get things done quickly.

This phone has all the hallmarks that sets it apart, just like my Sony Ericsson K750 did when it came out. In fact, I'm still using that seminal phone and can't find any modern phone that quite replicates its functionality or quality.

john, 05 Jul 2012dead on arrival?
like someone else said earlier, a tiny ... moreThey may all browse but they are not the same. I am a current Android user looking to move to WP in order to get a more featured internet experience.
Android (the project) have said many times they have no interest in matching desktop browser functionality. For myself currently I have sites that I need/want to use that I can't use on Android.
I currently have a phone and so am happy to wait for WP8 as some of the additional features are useful to me.
My point is though (and maybe I am in the minority in terms of requirements) that base applications are not all the same across platforms.

disezela, 04 Jul 2012one of the most beautiful and evolutionary design ever! tho... morewhich in turn was a near copy of the Nokia N9 which had MeeGo Harmattan 1.2 OS ...
That said, it was a wise choice for Nokia to "steal" their own design but dumb choice to install it with Microsoft WP7.5 ... now if the Lumia 900 had Android 2.3 on it, Nokia would of made an absolute killing in sales, but guess they have stephen elop to thank for all but killing Nokia.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2012FYI,,,, Bada was Born dead and Samsung knows it and wasnt t... moreNo actually Samsung produced Bada OS as an alternative Android, and did give it a major overhaul with Bada 2.0 and both wave 1 and Wave 2 can have Bada 2.0 on it, Microsoft on the other hand have said sorry WP7 and 7.5 devices will only get 7.8 which is a new UI experience no major OS platform change.
as for Nokia and MeeGo, they walked away from it, Intel kept "MeeGo" alive by going to Samsung which in turn have said they will merge the Bada OS with Intel's MeeGo to create Tizan and in fact Tizan UI is extremely the same as Bada's implementation of TouchWiz 4...
Still the Wave 3 v Lumia 900 ... the wave 3 comes out on top for the sheer fact that it does not castrate users from having an open platform experience unlike control freaks that Microsoft are as they learn t from the worst which is Apple.

dead on arrival?
like someone else said earlier, a tiny percentage of people who buy a phone will ever update the software or even know what a software update is, certainly less than 5%
Most people buy a phone without ever reading a review or giving a f ck about software. They just keep it for two years, install the same crappy apps everyone installs and never uses.
Once you scratch the surface, android, symbian, maemo, ios, wp are all the same. They make calls, send texts, take pictures, browse the net and run a few generic apps.
You guys worrying about not being able to update from wp7.8 to wp8 need to find something more important to worry about, you bunch of sad turds.

I wholeheartedly agree that this is the device to get should you want a WP and can't wait for at least a couple of months... On the other hand, who the hell wants WP?
We have witnessed a couple of times in history when a company kills an OS, but this is the first time when an OS killed a company - especially the one of the size of Nokia. Now its too late to save them, they shot themselves in the head with WP - twice at that.

GSMArena i think you are more loving and caring towards other OSs..you are making update such a huge issue..guess what lumia 900 will get a MAJOR update in form of WP 7.8..You are criticising this phone too much..you never criticised an ANDROID so much for not getting the update like SAMSUNG GALAXY S...It was only updated to 2.3 but Lumia got 2 MAJOR updates but you still have bad mouth for Nokia & WP and not Samsung & Android.. :/

This is ridiculous. They release their "flagship" android device and 1 day later announce that it will not be updated. So basically, you're buying a brick that will not even run all the new apps made for win8. Stephen Elop has only goal, reduce the value of nokia to the point it would make a cheap acquisition for Micro$oft. Well done Elop, *sshole.

Nokia tries to convince you that you don't need a quad-core, then sell you a single-core phone for the price of a quad-core. That's how they always overprice their phones.

The old adage “there is no replacement for displacement” doesn't hold true anymore, may it be vehicles or smartphones. It doesn't matter how many cores your device have, what counts is the real life performance. You don't base your device's performance on spec sheets, that's utterly immature and being feeble-minded. How old are you people anyway?

The video recording is extremely sharp, but the autofocus is a bit annoying...
