Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 review: Flying high

13 July 2012
With the Galaxy S III busy grabbing the headlines, a midrange smartphone has been making its way to a number of markets without much fanfare. But you can bet the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 won't settle for the role of just another sequel. It has a chance to...

I have some questions regarding this phone owing to discrepancy b/w the phones specs and the review here.
    1. The screen has protection or not (review says scratch res. glass-specs hav no mention watsoever)
    2. BT version-2.1(in review) or 3.0(in specs)
3.Flash support in browser(specs hav no mention-they say only HTML)
4.Ambient Light Sensor present or not?
Also all users who hav commented previously-i DO think that this phn will get ics as d video looked promising & reliable enough n google has promised that jb will be a step towards ending defragmentation meaning every phone that has ics will be capable of running jb
Now to the gsmarena team- some recent news suggested that adobe flash was taken off store. now as i haven't got a droid b4 idk what effect it will hav on this phn
will this phn ship with flash or do v hav 2 download it frm d play store?
    PLZ ANSWER...........

Derp, 14 Jul 2012Buy Galaxy Ace 2 rather than the xperia u. Why? Well, here ... moreYou said that ace 2 has more ram in the advantages of ace 2 but not the more processing power of xperia U as it's advantage.

[deleted post]1. I rather take GB than "official" uncooked ICS.

        2. Design of Xperia U looks hideous for the most, unless you are a gay.

        3. It's a same dual core.

        4. Xperia U has no sd card slot and it is the deal breaker for the majority.

lordstar, 13 Jul 2012This can handle Jellybean right? Or no chance?Yes, this phone can handle Jelly Bean with a breeze.
But let's wait and see what executives at Scamsung think of their customers. ;)

A sincere request to the GSMArena team. It would be really nice if you could contact Samsung and get an official confirmation if this phone will EVER get ICS or Jelly Bean (and if yes, in this year or not).

Because the community modding scene for Novathor U8500 chipset has been DEAD. No custom ROMs. And I'm not expecting any for this for a long time at least. So it would be really nice to not be stuck to an ANCIENT 1 and half year old OS when paying so much.

Typical samdung fanboys. The build quality of this compared to the Sony handsets mentioned isn't even worth a second of extra thought: the Xperia U trumps it in every respect. Add to this the fact that samsung will never update the phone beyond gingerbread and it becomes a no brainer.

When will it arrive at markets? It's been announced a loooong time ago. Why are they so late in the launching and availability?

If this is sold at 15k INR same as Xperia U, then it makes sense to get this phone.

Hi Team GSMArena. Thanks for your review on Ace 2.I am waiting for this phone since March and it is not yet launched in India.I prefer Ace 2 over xperia U only because of the memory expansion and native video call over 3G.
I like this phone very much and would like to purchase one.

Buy Galaxy Ace 2 rather than the xperia u. Why? Well, here are the reasons:
                              1.Bigger screen size
                              2.A micro SD slot.
                              3.More RAM
                              4.Near field Communication NFC chip
5.Great Battery - Lasts you all day
                              6. Samsung's Touchwiz is so much better than sony's Timescape UI
                              7.Better Bluetooth
8.Slimmer than xperia u and wider

And now, let's take a look at what xperia u really beats the ace 2 at:
1.Design: No competition here. xperia U has the upper hand in here. It's one of the most coolest i've ever seen.
2.Display: Ditto. Xperia U is better cause of high pixel density, altough it isn't a much of a difference, but oh well.
                              3.Sensor: Xperia U. 10/10
4.I think it'll get ICS sooner than Ace 2.
And it ends here, the xperia U advantage. I missed the processing power you said? Ah, but it's not a biggie. ace 2 has more RAM, less MHz and xperia u has less ram, more MHz. So, it's quite even, if you ask me. (P.S: The root for ace 2 is already out, and after you root it, u can overclock it to almost GHz without over heating it, which is , believe me super awesome!!)

SO, this concludes my comparison, folks. And there you go: The galaxy ace 2 has the double of reasons to suceed than xperia u. And hey, xperia u is a an awesome phone too.
So, if you want better design with all the sensors and better screen quality go for xperia U, or if you want a big screen device with nfc and better bluetooth and other various advanced functions, go for the ace 2!!
Thanks for reading and hope my comment helped you all.

If time comes that Samsung upgrade it to ICS, perhaps the Dev community at XDA might do they're tricks and have some JB rom for Ace 2.
