Samsung Galaxy S III vs. Note II: Sizing up

12 October 2012
The Galaxy S III and the Note II are both cut from the same cloth, but one is XL while the other is XXL. What can we say - someone at Samsung must be busy spinning and weaving. Size matters as it always has but this isn’t a choice between slim fit...

Beeing an iphone fan, i am changing my phone with a note 2. Bigger screen, bigger battery and i'm fed up with itunes bullshit. Iphone is a chick device in my opinion.

AnonD-76290, 18 Oct 2012S3 is better or note2?plz help me which one to pick? It's confusing no doubt... but then you've gotta choose between a phone and a tablet... Note 2 has some advantages like better battery, overclocked CPU, and 2 GB RAM... but then again it's not a phone...S3 still feels like a phone...

S3 is the biggest phone and Note 2 is the smallest tablet... so basically you've gotta choose between a phone and a tablet....

So far I like the lumia 920, its screen is, I have to admit, better than any iPhone out there. You can use gloves to navigate around the OS, or even a fork( LOL, seriously, go see the YouTube video if you don't believe me). Its camera is also better than any other phone in low light conditions. Wireless charging is also innovative. But I prefer android over my lumia 800, as it is much more open sourced and customizable.

Having read these articles, yes, for me, and to the rest all of you, I'm sure, it must be hard to decide which one should you have right?

I found the solution. The solution is easy and simple, but very 'painful', that is, just BUY BOTH of them. How's that sound? It's 'painful' right? Hahaha...;-p

How can some iBlinds come up and declare (being so shameless) to entitle iPhone 5 innovative and best? It’s quite obvious that Samsung is where iPhone can’t imagine of reaching at this time. May be, just may be iPhone 6 comes up with something really impressive. But for now, iPhone 5 isn’t what iFans name it, “Innovative”. Samsung SGS3, HOX1 and LG Optimus G should be called as real pioneering devices (not taking Note II into consideration seeing as it falls in different category all together). 720 x 1280 pixels on SGS3 with a 4.8” (bigger is always better) screen overtakes 640 x 1136 pixels 4.0” screen on iPhone 5. Moreover, the new display is not proportionally bigger, but only taller with unadapted apps run letterboxed due to the unusual resolution. We all know Apple Maps app not up to scratch. It has no USB Mass Storage mode, no FM radio, no stereo speakers, no microSD card slot (means you have to pay too much for some extra GBs which is easily expandable via a Micro SD card at a cheaper price) and no NFC connectivity. Again, it’s stuck with iTunes for loading content with mono audio recording in videos. The iPhone 5 failed to deliver that brand new design iFans were hoping for; and same UI looks a quite outdated too! In the camera section, comparing SGS3 and iPhone 5, SGS3 did not mention Panorama feature because it’s obvious to not include a feature that were present in feature phone way back in history. Here, iPhone did not fail to mention Panorama because it is new, new for iLovers and not for a smartphone! No Java support in iPhone 5 compare to SGS3.
Let’s talk innovation now, SGS3 has Smart Stay eye tracking, direct call, and the grid view in the video player - the visible video thumbnails (all eight of them) are actually playing the videos instead of being static images. The video player had absolutely no trouble with playing any of the files - starting with .WMV, through .AVI (DivX and XviD) and .MP4 to .MKV (H.264). Resolution wasn't a problem either - the Samsung Galaxy S III played FullHD files. Large files worked seamlessly (none of these are available in iPhone 5 so far). Moving on here, the video player on the S III has a feature called Pop up play - it moves the video in a small floating window and you can use other apps on the phone while still watching the video (in iPhone 5?). The Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III is equipped with an FM radio with RDS too (no radio in iPhone 5)! The Galaxy S III allows you to share all sorts of media via NFC by simply touching the devices back-to-back. It supports Stereo Bluetooth v4.0 too. Talking about iPhone 5, none of these features are actually present. If we consider Note II here, then iPhone will actually take years to come up with such device! There are three new wallpapers to choose from in iOS, truly innovative? It’s getting too large so I’m ending it here…so iFans and iLovers, I want to know what features in iPhone 5 is truly innovative? Please name them, I may change my plan of buying Note II over iPhone 5!

I have a question. Why do you participate Iphone 5 in the benchmarks when its score is better than the s3 or note II but when its score is lower there's no sign of iphone 5?Please be honest and tell all the facts.
By the way thanks for the fantastic article

why does most developers support samsung? theres a lot of tricks can do to samsung phones such as rooting and custom roms, they also provide solutions if you brickd ur phone via samsung kies.. why does lg, sony and motorola android is very difficult to root and find a custom rom? maybe because many people use samsung android.. having many developers really a big advantage..
