Galaxy Camera vs. 808 PureView: Shoot 'em up

The Nokia 808 is a very decent camera to carry around all day long. Its quality surpasses that of most, if not all, compact digicams, not to mention other handycams. So it's no offense the Samsung Galaxy Camera is not really shining here.
And normally one doesn't need much zooming in everyday photography.
I also have a big amount of camera equipment, analog and digital DSLR (Nikon and Canon), APS-C system camera (Samsung NX) and digicams (Panasonic Lumix).
And it's a clear fact that you can get along very fine with the Nokia 808. Only in very special situations (low-light indoor photography, i.e. a museum opening, 30th anniversary festivities of our enterprise; Macrophotography) I do use the APS-C cameras, in connection with a good external flash.

If you are interested in photography , invest in a DSLR and buy an iPhone / small thin compact camera to carry around always ... Believe me, you can't get better than that!!!Pure view/ Galaxy cameras are just gimmicks to entice the gullible

The PureView camera simply tearing Samsung to pieces. I've expected something like this, but not such a flawless victory. Great work, Nokia!

I have a note 2 but seriously if u leave aside the battery and screen of it, its a big time nuisance, drwaing stuf and all that is a sheer waste of time. Yes it luks gud and seems very sophisticated but 1 month ago i dropped it and holy god the screen got pissed up and i dunno what but i guess the motherboard got displaced....grrr had to shell out 15 k or u can say nearly $300 extra.....had a very bad experience vid samsung and i was lukinh fwd to smthng that is gud other then galaxy note2 as s3 is crap......i made a big mistake i guess should have waited for nokia to release smthng gud...now im regretting, but yes u have enuf free games in android but after smtime ur brain gets sick. At the end of day photographs matter alot dats a pain taking vid my galaxy note, sometimes it seems very big in hands..... Nokia why u did this to me..... I miss u alot

Nokia fanboys lie to each others to feel good although in conclusion it said Galaxy Camera is better.
Nokia is a major failure as usual, Galaxy Camera 2 will support GSM and again Nokia fanboys will cry even harder till they faint out.

How can you be comparing a smartphone camera to a digital camera running android, find some canon digicam to compare it to.

The Galaxy Camera wins because it's an actual camera with proper camera functions. The 808 is just an old, forgotten, ex-flagship device with inferior hardware, useless apps, and a dead OS. RIP Symbian, RIP Nokia.

What's the head to head for, the purpose?
I mean.. both are smartphone right? first, main use of phone is make call, texting. Technology make them smart, with what PHONE can also do too, so we called them "smartphone". First, u can compare them by "call" function
samsung galaxy camera: hello? (u can make call and say hello until 40 century, still nobody answer)
this is ridiculous.. samsung galaxy camera even can't make a phonecall. that is not smartphone, that is pocket cam for user who addicted to sharing photo into social networking, so they put android there.
Beside that.. 41 (effective 38), tell me how can that can beat by 17 mp? Of course nokia is the king here. Sorry samsung.. u many have best world selling number. but legend phone? only nokia can produce that :P

Nokia 808 is much handier than the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
If you go on a trip, 808 would be much better, you'd need to bring only one device with you and it'll do what is most needed during a trip:
Phone calls
GPS
Photos
Plus it's a smaller device, with a better battery life.
There is also a Dropbox app called "cuteBox" for Symbian, not sure if it works with 808 but it does with the N8, that app is just fantastic and makes the phone MUCH more convenient. Shoot photos and just upload, they go up in their original names and everything like EXIF preserved.
It's too bad 808 does not have OIS, that is an awesome feature to have. The quality is that but the shakiness needs to be addressed.
If Nokia makes a phone with 808's Pureview tech + 920's OIS tech, it's going to be something amazing!

Okay, here what i did:
download both video sample at 720P and try to read cars license plate by playin frame by frame and guess what? while it was very easy read them with the 808 video, I just couldn't read none from the Galaxy Camera on. Try it yourself.
I don't how professionnal photographer call this bus but...

ct79, 17 Jan 2013The galaxy camera is better suited for everyday situation. ... moreI disagree. I have 3 cameras, the FZ35 (superzoom), a Sony NEX and the 808 Pureview. The 808 Pureview is the one that I use the most, almost replacing the Sony NEX even. The 808's image quality is really THAT good under most situations, even indoor or relatively low light conditions which is the NEX's forte with the APSC sensor. Nowadays I only bring along the FZ35 for highly specialized purposes (e.g. for travel when I might need the telephoto lens), or taking pictures of wildlife. Even in this case, I find that the 808 can take good, croppable photos when the photo is shot at full resolution. For example, I took a 38MP image from atop the Empire State Building, and you can zoom in to see the Statue of Liberty in the photo! As for the SONY NEX, I only bring that along for low-light when I absolutely need the best image quality.
