My experience with the Nokia Lumina 520 is not as good as some others. I had the phone for about a month with no problems when an update appeared for my Windows version from 7 to 8. The phone updated on its own and then my Internet sharing function stopped working which is how I get the Internet for my home computers and for when I'm on the road.
After almost two hours on the phone with AT&T, it was decided that the issue was with Nokia. I contacted Nokia and after several hours on the phone, I was told that a higher support tech would contact me in 24 to 72 hours. After 98 hours, I received my first call. This person continued to walk me through the same actions as my first Nokia contact. He then told me he would contact a higher support person and after more days he called back with more guesses as to the problem. After two weeks and many hours on the phone have now passed and he now promises again that he will contact a higher level of support for me again.
I don't know about when most of you would say enough is enough, but I'm fed up with the lack of support or attempt by Nokia/Microsoft to fix the problem in the more than two weeks since the problem started. In my opinion the problem is in the software update and admitted by the Nokia representative that others are having the same issue as well and that they have only been able to get a few of them operating properly, but don't know exactly how they got them working again.
With my experience as stated, I would recommend that you buy anything but a Nokia or Microsoft product if you expect support for any problem that will arise
